I cant find where to sharpen the small knife.. any tips?
The base Amnesia works fine as do custom stories. The game is installed to my F:\ drive though, the path is:
F:\Steam Games\SteamApps\common\Amnesia The Dark Descent
That could perhaps be the problem? I have totally deleted Amnesia and let steam re-download the files and its still giving me the error message.
Im getting an error message when I trying to load this, I click the batch file and it says 'Application load error 5:0000065434'. I have the steam version, I verified the integrity of my game cache but it didnt help?
Thanks for your feedback. To be honest a lot of the time I found myself adding stuff to levels I previously thought were finished in order to add scares/quests/length, etc. I guess increasing the quantity of levels instead of size is a better strategy..
Calamine is actually the easiest to find :) It is in the lab on a shelf.
Also, I find it really hard to determine how much oil to put in the story, I will reconsider the amount for future updates.

I can try and load it again, but if you look in the comments user 'Water_Lily' had the same issue im having:
"Every thing seemed fine then until I tried to use the key to get in to the electrical room. It could take my key but the door refused to open."
For some reason the Electrical room door wont open. I used the key on it but it just wont budge? Im on windows 7 btw.
It one of the items you get from your room in the Residence.
Is this story finished or are you still adding to it?
OK the Hammer is in the underground section in the storeroom which has torches already lit.
You mean in the storage? You need the hammer and chipper, combine them and use on the door.

The lever bug is know to me, however im not quite sure why its happening as the script looks absolutely fine. It worked right when I originally made the story, but after doing a fresh windows install and re-downloading it I found it only takes 2 instead of 3, I will have to try and fix it.
I will also look into ways to make the tunnel more obvious.

Here is a bit of a walkthrough to find the tunnel so everyone else *SPOILERS*:
Find the area with the metal cells with hay on the floor, there is a door here that allows you to enter a new area. In this area you should find a room with a ray of light:
There are some stairs, go down and take a left. You will find some rocks covering the hole, go through the hole and you will come out in one of the locked rooms which contains one of the chemicals.
Have you been through the 'tunnel'? If not, there are some rocks blocking a hole, pull them out of the way and crawl through the tunnel and you will come out in a room which contains one of the chemicals.
Ok here is a hint, have you found the door that is locked but gives you a message that it appears weak? A heavy object will break this door. If you would like more help let me know.
Which chemical do you need and I can give you a hint? (Or outright tell you if you prefer?)
Is this a custom story or full conversion? Its looking like full conversion but I just wanted to make sure.
...sarcasm? I mean, I AIMED for that sort of mood but as a first time modder I never expected to nail it.
Thanks for the advice :) its still early in development, I just put up these pics as a demonstration of what ive done so far. Lighting is definitely something im going to put more work into once more of the levels are built.
Hey man, first of all can I just say Amnesia Rain was an epic Custom Story, one of the best i've ever played. I could tell a lot of effort had gone into making it, definitely on the same par as the regular Dark Decent game, I hope you make more stories!
Now, I have a favor to ask. Would you mind if I used one of your sky boxes in my custom story? I was hoping to use the starry sky one as I want to have a dark forest with the moon shining through the trees and yours is perfect for that.

In the house at the beginning. I think I somehow fell through the window near the ladder, no idea how. Basically after I had explored the attic I climbed back down the ladder, then when I jumped off I somehow ended up on the other side of the window.
Putting a black box behind the window will stop this happening, though I had another go and couldn't replicate it.
I was just playing your story and unfortunately I somehow managed to fall though the map, I jumped down a ladder, it was dark so im not sure how it happened. This wouldn't be a problem but unfortunately your save system autosaved at this point so I have no choice but to restart :(
Perhaps you could include some predetermined save points to go with the autosave? Like if you pick up a key or note make it autosave + add a checkpoint.
But apart from this I like the story so far, its an interesting idea not having music change when monsters come, though I think it would make it scarier if a more quiet, creepy music played, like this for example:
I will restart and continue where I left off.
Can I ask why you felt my custom story deserved a 1/10? Did you actually finish it? Did you experience any problems?
You are entitled to your opinion but a 1/10 feels like a real slap in the face considering all the work I put in to making this story, at the very least you could provide some constructive feedback on what you didnt like.
Have you done the cogs too? I know someone else who had a problem with the machine had a problem with his actual Amnesia TDD files which caused it to bug out. He had steam check them and it fixed it. It could be that, if not if you load your last save it will bring you out at the beginning of that section and hopefully it will work. Sorry for the inconvenience, I havent had anyone else report problems with it though so hopefully it was just a one off glitch for you.

I just started playing this story, and it feels very well made and scary, but I just wanted to let you know of a few problems ive encountered so far (SPOILERS AHEAD):
First of all the music in the village doesn't loop and just cuts off after a bit, its a little jarring, but not a huge deal. However a major problem I encountered was getting stuck behind a wardrobe in the Inn (in the last room). I noticed there was a misplaced spider web, I walked towards it then got sucked through the back of the wardrobe. Very game breaking as the autosave made me start from there. Normally I would have had to restart the story as there are no other save points but as I know how to make custom stories I did a tiny edit in the custom story settings file and made it so the story starts on the Inn map, so i could continue. However for someone who doesnt have this knowledge this bug could be very frustrating.
Another minor issue was in one of the houses (the house with the safe) there is a wall that sucks objects into it, I threw a box at the wall and it got sucked in, I threw something else and it got sucked in and catapulted into the next room! Very weird, but again not really a major bug.
But apart from those things im having a good time, monster chases are super intense, the voice acting is very good and the crypt section is at the same standard as the prison in TDD. So very good job, hopefully the story will continue to impress.

Is he a troll or something? Because i've played quite a few CS and ive never ever considering rating any a 1, even the worse ones deserve points for the effort put into making them. It just feels like a slap in the face after all the work you've done. I understand not everyone will like your style (he mentions lack of jump scares..) and you have the right to rate at a lower score but a 1? Really?
If you have problems with the story like glitches and things let me know and i'll fix them, I actually have a patch coming out later today that will sort out some texture problems among a few other things.
