Reasons for you to complain. Valve does the following in which you stated in to me. "TO brad:
Developers are supposed to think like their community, and understand how their game will effect their community. If they make a large portion of their community dislike their decisions, then they are deciding wrong. Your acting as if a game developer has never been wrong before."

Valve is most noticeable at noticing and thinking like the community.

Uh! No! How good a game is, is based on who the developers are. Look at the MOB game. It uses CryEngine 2, and doesn't look all that great. Decent, yes, but not amazing. Your logic in thinking that because its capable of running on Consoles makes it inferior, is 100% wrong.

Sure Crysis doesn't run on consoles. So? What has that got to do with game engines? It doesn't.

Not really. You misread the part where they said it is scalable. You can have crappy graphics in a game when you have everything on low. All they have to do is having a thing called "OPTIONS".

Why is everyone saying this is a consolised version? Where the **** does it say that? Crytek is saying that the engine is getting bigger and bigger, and finally they are supporting (Not changing to) the console market.

To add to this, Art can also be a form of creativity with no limitations. Like before, games were struggling to r3each the age of which realism can be achieved. Now we have total creative control with the current level of technology. That is art.

Everyone here is making a simple idea into a complicated mess. Just take it with a grain of salt.

People don't understand the article. Games have been known for being formulaic and generalistic. By art, one means that total creativity is realized in the product. Art is not a robotic clone of another idea.

Also, by Art one can say art direction. I don't know why everyone here is bitching about what is art. This article pretty much sums it up perfectly.

Since I already named some ID Tech 3 games, I'll name some Unreal ones.

Clive Barker Undying. You can easily do it as a mod. Obviously when you compare it to most of the mods released.

Star Trek: The Next Generation: Klingon Honor Guard, Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green, PostalĀ² Nuff said.

Unreal Tournament 2k4. Repackaged 2k3.

Red Steel 2. A little different from Red Steel.

Star Wars: Republic Commando. A unique hud obviously makes it good enough to be its own game.

Stop saying that the Game is just a reskinned and resold L4D.

Elite Force. Just a reskinned "ID Tech 3" engine. Oh but it has different weapons. Well you stated in another post that it isn't that hard to program in a new weapon.

Call of Duty. Redone models, different textures, different menu, replaced weapons and a simple addition of an Objective List.

Your argument is only flawed because you seem to ignore how different L4D2 is from L4D. There is so much changed underneath that it can be measured just about the same as most games based on another engine.

Lets go on.

Return to castle Wolfentstein. Oh my, its not in the future. Its during WW2. Must be very different game.

Or maybe all the games that were released as Gold editions with new features that can't be found in a patch. Oh wait, that doesn't matter.

We are talking about Valve here, not EA. You guys are a huge disgrace. Just shut up.

Not to mention, that amazon post is hard to believe. Honestly L4D2 is no different than Half-life 2 episodes. Its a completely new game with similiar gameplay. Its has an enhanced engine which is reprogrammed enough that updating the original game could potentially break the campaigns.

Don't forget, Coop will be much harder than Single-player. You have to put a lot more work into making things work for each and every player.
