I think it's just a matter of taste. Some people prefer to discover new things every play through, and treat death penalty like a chance for a new experience, others see a set back in it.
Anyway, another save system will be implemented once we start putting the quests into the game. Wish I could tell you the date but at first we have to finish the dialogue, NPC and quest systems. Unfortunately, It all takes quite a lot of time(((

it was our initial plan, but we came across an issue in unity's path finding system, and decided to go with pre-created maps.
But we didn't abandoned the idea of a procedural world.

but from the gamepley perspective, when the character is tiered, hungry, thirsty or suffers from injuries he/she becomes weaker and more vulnerable. In other words it becomes harder to stay alive
You can hide in wardrobes, dumpsters and telephone boxes, to escape from the creatures. They can see and hear you.
When you run you make more noise, but you also get warm. Maps are hand crafted, but furniture, loot, and creatures are random
single player only, at least for now.

The waterproof matches became sort of a currency in Duga. You'll need them to trade with NPCs and to craft some items like campfires.

About your request, I can make a mock-up in Photoshop of how it would work/look, because right now our programmers working on implementation of the core game logic, objects, buildings, car and so on.
We've planned our development schedule,based on the worst case scenario, what means if we didn't get funding. According to that the first alpha will be made in August, if we be ahead of our schedule we definitely will program the tactical mode and show it up in the first alpha.

Nope, the key principles and functionality are staying the same: ultimate freedom, no levels and nonlinear . This change regards mainly the map size, at the very beginning will be available only 5 zones to roam around it's about 5-7 square kilometres, plus the first part of the main story line.
Yep, Tula is a city not far from Moscow, I've been there several times)
The game is taking in place at the edge between 60s and 70's, but the incident (the parasite outbreak) had happened about 5-7 years before that. That's why we are using more stuff from 50s and 60s then from much earlier years. However, one of the main characters the Punk was mainly inspired by the soviet punk of 70s ans 80s.
Also it's a bit hard to follow strictly within a certain time frame, when you're trying to play with retrofuturistic stylisation. Particularly hard to do with the soviet style.
This is just the first portion of guns, it will be more sniper rifles, double-barraled shotguns. M97 was in my mind and it still is))
And, as a game designer, I'd like to communicate the soviet "touch" not only trough weapons and some well known cliche like kalashnikov, red stars and Lenin statues. But rather through architecture and props, which make the atmosphere of a Soviet city. It's harder, but if it's done right you will no need of an AK-47 in your hands to say I'm in USSR/Russia ))

The all four are the key NPCs which have important roles in the main story. Generally, Salamander it's a scientific group that works on a remedy against the parasite.

hey, guys. @Vesperon- Yes all these stuff will be lootable, more shelves, boxes, crates are coming. @ Official|Sam - you described it exactly, like we're going to make, loot will be randomly generated. In addition to that I'm working on system of micro events, which means when you open a random create for example it may trig a certain micro event either like spawning a monster or quest, or anything else. I think such surprises will make scavenging even more interesting, when you don't know what to expect from your actions)
