Fixed it, put the launcher on the disc on compatibility instead of the one on my hard drive.
Calmed down a bit now. Is there a way to make EaW work on Windows 8, like a update or some simple recoding? I really miss ICW. Compatibility doesn't work.
the computer is shared so that isn't an option at the moment (without getting a ton of crap for switching anyway). Thanks a lot for answering though.

Will some of BFII's 'canonical' issues be addressed in this mod, specifically the location of the Star Destroyer's and Venator's hangars? And will there be a Galactic Conquest for the new maps?
Could someone here help me? I got a new computer recently which runs windows 8 (my old system was xp sp2 if it helps to know.) Unfortunately EaW won't run on 8 and compatibility is not working on it. Is there a way to get EaW to run?
I know this isn't a help support for EAW but no one else has helped me. I upgraded to Windows 8 earlier and can't play EAW, not even on compatibility (I tried every last compatibility setting from 98 to Vista SP2). Is there a way to make this game work on Windows 8? I'm having a panic attack.
Will a tutorial be included in the mod? I'm gonna end up buying the game just for the mod here and won't know a thing on gameplay.
This has been troubling me, maybe I suck at aiming, maybe not, but as the proud owner of a dreadnaught (and lancer) I know that those fighters should have been way more difficult to hit in that CorSec monster. Shouldn't the AI be made less accurate, I spent alot of time on the demo training myself to drive and shoot in a cap ship and if the ai does all the shooting and is super accurate then it takes less skill to be a captain then it used too. Or maybe that was what you guys were aiming to do.
O well, I was gonna suggest a certain cap ship as a admin ship but with that limit its not possible unless you carefully space the guns and adjust the fire rate
Will you be able to order them to defend targets as well as attack them, and can you order them to return to the carrier while they are in combat?
Sorry if I've asked too many questions in too short a time but I have a couple more.
1. Other then the dynamic economy what are the features that are unavailable in the "singleplayer" version.
2. As a noob to servers and using one will the local "singleplayer" allow local friends to get on provided I give them the server name?
I also thought of something that might not be possible yet but its an idea. I was playing an ancient videogame the other day: Star Trek Starfleet Command, the original one. And it has a giant HUD that folds in and out onto the screen. A feature like that will be useful so the chat can be freed up for chatting. If possible it could contain buttons for carriers and autoturrets and speed control and other stuff that you guys have no doubt develpoed but haven't released yet. Maybe even radar...

I don't remember mines in Star Wars, there probably were but I can't recall them. Makes for great gameplay in terms of tactical situations though.

Quick question on the freelancer engine since you guys know it so well.
Is there a turret limit on ships and if so what is it?
In that case, even though I'm pretty sure I mentioned this once on the forums, the Dreadnaught has a hole its mesh towards the back that allows fighters to fly inside its model and when this happens you inevitably have to suicide to stop flipping.

On a side note I'm gonna miss my dreadnaught, had so many adventures in the demo with it.

Way better then the old one in looks, are its stats still the same as in the demo? I've flown it alot.
I don't think its possible to go any further without designing a whole new engine for Freelancer. (Feel free to take that as a challenge) :)

Have you guys thought of having more varied infantry then just troopers, specialists, plex troopers and the occasional infiltrator? It just occured to me that infantry played a way bigger role then they do right now in almost any EaW mod.
