I'm thinking about putting my free time normally spent hoping BFIII will come out to use by making a mod for BFII, even though I have no experience modding anything, but I'm sure I'll figure everything out eventually. This won't be a overnight project but something that may take years or at least months. I'll start with maps or whatever is easier and then move on to adding eras and tweaking sides. I've already written down what I would like to see in the mod and it will most likely have to be made of two interchangeable parts for the addon folder because size extends past the mission limit. It's a good thing I'm stubborn because the mod tools look complicated, if anyone has advice please share. This mod will be more of a personal thing so it will be made to suit my tastes, not others, that being said once its done I will upload it here.
I'm playing with a few ideas...
SW:TOR era
A couple Mandalorian Wars maps (Dxun, Space Malachor)
Maps based off SW:TOR, Thrawn Trilogy, Force Unleashed, (definetly Katana fleet space battle), important places from movies (Mos Espa, Ohta Gunga, Coruscant Upper City, Space Coruscant, Cloud City) and the Expanded Universe in general.
Redone and new vehicles
Redone sides
at least 4 eras, possibly 6
as canon as possible without killing gameplay
I'll post a map list later, most are already planned out, just need to be created, I will have to cut back, just thinking what I want to add I've planned 140 (so unless some are era specific that makes 560 missions already past the limit).
I've been planning this out privately and daydreaming about this for a long time so wish me good luck, I hope I'm not crazy.

3/11/13 My old computer decided to give up on life and died about a month ago. I now have a new computer and Battlefront II stills works on it but the standard mod tools released by LucasArts have a file in them that my antivirus security system won't stop deleting no matter how many times I bring it back. So far this has not affected the mod tools but I think this has bad implications in the long run because something is definitely not going to work.

5/23/13 I have one map built but it will not be part of the final mod, I am using it to test changes I am making to the AI, am working on making the AI do the following: recognize/use cover, use squad tactics, provide better support. This will take a lot longer then just adding the era and maps but I think it will be worth it.

9/21/13 Figure I'd better update sometime. With school work on the mod has reached an all time minimum, but improvements have been made! The ai crouch when near "cover" but unfortunately that doesn't mean they use it, still working on that. They also tend to move in groups of 3-5 now, gives a more epic feel then 1 on 1 skirmishes, I have droids moving in larger groups but have cut down on their stats, will probably have to increase their ticket numbers to keep it balanced. I have also learned I am bad at modeling, practice makes perfect I guess. I can texture decently now though, just need to figure out how to apply them correctly.

10/16/13 Made a cool effect to place between starships during space battles, basically lasers flying back and forth and explosions, doesn't affect gameplay since it's just a effect, flying through it does not do any damage. But it makes the battle feel a bit more epic with all the lasers flying around, and it looks like the ships are fully engaged instead of tossing pot-shots at each other. I'm considering transferring the mod over the Battlefield 2 for better graphics and ai but that means I would have to ditch space battles which I would never do just for the sake of making the mod prettier.

9/19/14 It's been a year I think it's safe to say this has gone the direction of many another mod in that it is no longer being developed (if that phrase is accurate for so little work). I'll try to dig up the old files for what I did get done in case anyone wants them but this project is dead.
