Hello, I'm Sanjuaro. I use Mod DB as a place to find interesting new mods and games. I also use it for my blog which I update regularly. I hope to one day get in the business of voice acting and at the moment I am experimenting with different things.

I like ModDB but really my blog seems inappropriately casual compared to the theme of this site. I mean I'm talking about my life when ModDB probably expects me to talk about developing something, I don't know. I'd just prefer something that I feel like I have more freedom over. I'm moving my blog over to Sanjuaro.tumblr.com

Report abuse I thought you were a GEP gun

Been awhile since I updated so here's what's currently going on with me. I fixed my PC about two or three weeks ago and it's all fine and dandy. Lately I've been playing a lot of League of Legends and Deus Ex. Now, I'm not that much of a DotA player and I'm sure that if anyone were to play me at it I'd lose horribly but I'm really enjoying LoL. The main reason for this is that LoL is very noob-friendly. When I say that I mean that it's a very easy game to pick up and get the hang of and it's fun as well because there are still good players that make the game challenging. I've gotten pretty good at it myself and so far my favorite champions to play are Zilean, Fiddlesticks, and Teemo.

Aside from that I tried out Deus Ex a few days ago and I just want to say, I'm loving it. It's just such a great game and I'm surprised I passed it up so many times. What finally got me playing it was this video:

It just seemed so funny to me and I picked up the game just so I could play that mod. I'm sure I'll try out The Nameless Mod as well.

Oh and apparently I just read that I have a cyst in my left earlobe. I was wondering what that small lump was...

Report abuse A bit of bad luck

I was meaning to make this post over a week ago so bear with me. On my way back from New York I had a bit of bad luck. My uncle came to pick me up on his Harley and we drove the long way back home due to the fact that my uncle had a felony so he wasn't permitted into Canada. It wasn't bad, it was a pretty nice 10 hour ride though my ass did get sore. The bad luck I'm talking about though is that because we had to strap my PC to the back it did get a little banged up on the inside from my heat sink coming lose and bouncing around on my motherboard. So I had to go and get that looked at to see what parts were still good and what ones were not. Luckily for me just the motherboard was bad. So on the 15th I ordered a new motherboard along with a new CPU and RAM. I figured I might as well upgrade them since I am upgrading my motherboard too. The parts should be here tomorrow so I'm just hoping that it'll all work.

Aside from that bit I am pretty happy because a user on What.cd recently uploaded the 'All Balloons' album by One EskimO about a month before it's official release, so I've been listening to that and thoroughly enjoying it. Now don't get me wrong though, when they do release it I'll go ahead and buy it but I can't help but wanting to enjoy it now.

Report abuse Indians With Guns

So I just found out yesterday that Turok 1 and 2 (along with a few others) were actually made for PC so I was on a bit of a nostalgia trip playing those for a couple hours. I'm pretty disappointed with how the Turok series went over the years. In the beginning the games were just fantastic because of the unique weaponry, I mean, when you look at the Cerebral Bore you have to admit, it's pretty badass.

But as the games go on the weapons get a bit generic. When I say that I'm directing that at the latest 2008 Turok release.

On another note I'm back in New York so that's pretty nice.

Report abuse The Fourth

I'm wondering what I should do on the 4th of July. Last year I went out on my dad's boat and we just floated around and watched the fireworks. It was pretty fun, mostly because of the type of people my dad hangs out with, but that's a different story. This year I could do the same thing or hang out with a buddy of mine, I really don't know. I'm thinking about just seeing what my dad's plans are, see if he's doing the same thing this year and then call my buddy and see what he's doing. Whichever one sounds more interesting is likely the one I'm going with, no big deal really. I kind of want to do what I did last year. I put together this bomb from a plastic Easter Egg and wrote 'Magical Egg' on it.

I'll see what I can put together. Though I should do it quick since this weekend would be my deadline.

Report abuse Been Busy

I've been pretty busy lately. I just got back from a 4-day visit to my mother's house. I've also been working at a temp job at a fast food Chinese restaurant. The good thing about that is I really need the extra money and my sister's the one who helped me get it since she already works there so that's nice. If I need help I can just ask her whatever. The thing I don't like is that today I work from 11:00 AM-9:00 PM. Which is just about all day since 9 o' clock is closing. But hey it's income so I won't complain.

On another note it's almost July. This means that it's almost time for me to head back over to New York which I'm excited about. When I get over there I'll be able to  spend time with my boyfriend again. His mom had said that she would help me get a job while over there too so that should be nice. She also said that there are classes over there that should be able to help with my voice acting so I might just take advantage of that.

Report abuse Got An Offer

I recently was given a offer to voice act for a mod so I'm pretty excited. I'm going to be acting for a mod called 'Delerium' for Half-Life 2. The team working on it doesn't have a profile for it here on ModDB but they do have a thread for it on Facepunch. I'm hoping that the mod won't die prematurely like I've seen countless other ones do. It's a bit early to think about things like that so I'll just sit back and see what happens.

On another note I tried out the Prototype game and so far it's pretty fun. I like how it's open like Grand Theft Auto, however, to me it doesn't have as much replayability.

Report abuse A World of Zombies

So lately I've been hanging out in the unofficial Facepunch ventrilo. There's some pretty neat people in there and it's proven to be entertaining so far. Also because of that I've been playing Garry's Mod slightly more often. I've taken an interest towards the Zombified World gamemode. In it you are able to kill zombies and gain experience from it to level up to put points in different skills such as more damage, armor, or extra money earned for every zombie killed. There's also a pretty nifty inventory system for holding weapons, items, food, etc. The way you earn money is actually believable though. For every kill you get you earn bounty. Any bounty points you earn can be brought to any trader on the current map to exchange it for money.

And... I was going to mention something else but my mind just went blank.

Edit: I remember now. My voice will be featured on a clan's Team Fortress 2 server. It's nothing big but to me it's another step forward. The clip will be played when you first enter the server. I'll be saying their motto "You're all fucking bad". Like I said, it's nothing big but it's a start. Server IP is here: 207.210.252.106:27016

Report abuse SYSNSO: Squid What!?

0 comments by Sanjuaro on Jun 7th, 2009 digg this super bookmark

For the past couple days when I've been browsing Mod DB I've noticed a featured game under the name of SYNSO: Squid Harder. Now of course such a bizarre name like that caught my attention so I went to check it out and boy am I glad I did. Let's put it this way SYNSO: Squid Harder is the kind of game that I would take the time to build a MAME arcade cabinet just so I could play it that way. When I play it I think the old Asteroids game...

...but on so much ecstacy that it's a wonder it's still alive.

In SYNSO: Squid Harder you're a little ship that blasts away numerous types of enemies that spawn on the screen, now that sounds pretty dull huh? Well here's the catch; there are explosions. Not just explosions but EXPLOSIONS. The explosions are sprays of color and they're just to the point where if you get enough then you'll have a hard time even trying to figure out where you are. Kind of like this:

It's just insane. The only thing I dislike about the game is that there are only four levels. They're quit challenging though, I've only managed to get past the first two levels out of four and I've spend a good bit of time playing so I guess they did someting right.

Anyways, if you want to check it out the link is here: Moddb.com . Also if you're going to play it, be sure to use a gamepad, it's so much easier.

Report abuse L4D 2

I was a bit disappointed when I heard of Valve announcing Left 4 Dead 2. Mainly because they haven't given the original game as much attention as they had promised they would. They promised they would give new maps, weapons, and characters but instead of implementing that in the original, they decided to make a new "game" out of it that seems like more of an expansion. This kind of stuff just annoys me. I guess I just won't be picking up that title. I don't really play Left 4 Dead much anyways. To me it just doesn't have much re-playability.

On a side note I found a very awesome video which really touches on an issue that I'll have to deal with later on in my life.
