Sorry, I tried the demo but couldn't understand what was going on at all!! - Are there any instructions?

For some reason most of the time the camera kept waving about on its own, especially when anything happened I was trying to look at- From the moment the game started there always seemed to be about 5 ghostly things going on at once & the time limits were so short I ended up having to run round everywhere instead of nervously exploring the house... Then I suddenly just couldnt move & there were noises, I floated up & then fell to the floor, & then a guy in futuristic armor appeared in front of me I could control with the keyboard, and nothing else beyond that!

Tried playing again, and when I went to bed what looked like an anime character with icicles appeared and then it cut to a shot of a trophy cabinet with some weird trophies and no explanation of what any of them meant...

Am I missing something here, is any of this explained somewhere?

At one point I got temporarily locked outside- it ate up 2 battery pieces just doing that! Not to mention when the fire alarm kept going off how long it took to find that to shut it up. Are you just meant to ignore the spooky things and just go past them, are they meant to just be a distraction ?

Id much rather you took your time and made a Chapter 2 you were excited about, rather than just trotting one out due to pressure you weren't inspired about!

Hey, thanks - Yeah, I kept saving using the pens (I just meant that I ended up having to repeat big sections of the game again&again; between save points, as I'd eventually get killed and have to go to my savepoint quite some time ago). I made it a decent way through the game in the end through sheer persistence -
I just seemed to find the janitor turned up constantly, so every time I tried to work on a puzzle or read an eerie story that I found, I had to stop again, kinda killing the atmosphere for me.

I know the game's full of puzzles and notes, I just seem to find myself spending 95% when I play staring at the back of a hiding place and 5% actually doing anything else! ;)

NH2 is one of the best examples of eerie games that keep you guessing, never letting you know what to expect next... one of the most original mods I've ever experienced.

I started a blog for people who've played a lot of horrors and are looking for ones which are a bit more original - these days you have to wade through so many that are just rehashes!

Nightmare House 2 has some of the most original moments and well thought out scares I've seen... it really works to get inside your head and do what you least expect.
So glad it's been updated so more people can play it again - and I hope it gets Steam greenlit!

Ok, maybe I just suck at this...

This sounds just like the sort of horror I always love, but am struggling to get into it... Just when the atmosphere was building up nicely, Im trying to explore and get into it but everytime I go anywhere that janitor turns up.

Everytime I hear him coming all I can do is hide completely in the dark, usually for several minutes, until he's gone again. Which buys me maybe a couple of minutes to explore and then he comes round again. Im spending more minutes staring at a dark screen and waiting than I am actually doing anything - and then since he's so damn good at finding you even in dark rooms with the doors shut half the time, often after a few rooms he kills me and I have to reload and start the whole thing over and over again.

I've got that lunchlady's head permanently floating after me too, which went from spooky to irritating real fast after the first hour.

I just seem to be unable to enjoy getting into the game and the atmosphere because every 60 seconds I'm having to lure the head off somewhere or spend another 5 minutes staring at the back of a darkened filing cabinet!
Am I missing something, does it get better?
