Due to some advice given to us, for legal reasons we will soon be changing the name. We've had some thought on possible names, but we want to hear from you guys too.

What do you think we ought to rename the mod to,

NO USE OF MIDDLE EARTH IN THE NAME

Its something we are looking into, being related to a custom campaign map, which since has been acheived on Shogun 2 total war, we are trying to transfer the method on Rome 2.

If you mean the same scale as TATW then I can say no.

If however CA released some form of battlefield editor like for Shogun 2, then I can say yes for custom battle type scenarios.

We are currently editing all of the starting positions, so for example Isengard will start where the suebi are, and then Rohan will be south of them etc etc.

We obviously would love to re-design the campaign map, but CA have not released any campaign map editing tools.

Just because we say we are working on it, doesn't mean to say its priority. We have some few units but only because they were made earlier than we expected.

At the moment our main focus is on all 4 factions.

Sorry to hear about that, It's always a shame when people miss out on the latest games at the time.

However we have people planning to record it, so we'll be sure to post it here for everyones viewing pleasure.

we've got the campaign positions sorted, however as we've always done we've ran into some trouble.

We have a problem with loading into the main menu, in that it CTD every time it does it.

If it werent for that we could have released it by now.

So we are trying to solve this, and then we'll most likely run a test phase on the mod and then see about getting a release date going.

we plan for a open alpha to be released before the end of the year. Which would include 4 factions, Gondor, Rohan, Mordor and Isengard along with some core features.

More information in the "Future Release Details" literally above your post...

What's wrong with that?
Many mods have used models and assets from mount and blade mods as they are high poly models and which are available for use with credit and grant from the creator, so why not make use of it.

The large list of factions are every playable faction that will be in the final release, that release detail above is just a view of what will be available when we release alpha/beta etc.

-We are currently editing the present map with faction ownerships etc. we feel that we should include a campaign map regardless of whether CA release campaign editing tools. (Which seems unlikely now)

No sure if they have a Moddb page.

Also we have added a new miscellaneous faction preview thread, showing Dunland and in the future Dale. (Currently very early worked models)

Misc factions: Twcenter.net

We will be showing Gondor as our next big faction preview.

We work with set goals, so currently all we are concerned about at the moment is getting 4 factions done to a reasonable standard with the UI being done for them as well along with foundations of some of the core features we are going to add in, So that we can release it as a open alpha.

(The 4 factions are still WIP)

Then we will continue the work and focus on Harad,Dwarves, Elves, and Rhun. for a Open beta release.

So until then we aren't heavily focused on Rhun.

But I can tell you they won't be based on the movie or off of TATW, as we are basing the lore on the books.

We've had similar thoughts, and I think in the end I think this what we are going to do. But it would be a full release first before debating on whether we port over.

That would be something we wish to do if the community gets a bigger support with the modding tools, i.e campaign map editing tools, battle maps, campaign models, UI editors etc etc

Thanks for your support :)

The two questions posted in the comments on the deleted image,

"Will you change the unit cards"
Yes eventually, the ones here are just the selection of the unit card, but they are subjected to change. It was more of a test and to see what could be done. For example you can slightly see the tree in the unit card selection.

"what will be Gondor bodyguards be like" (can't remember the exact words of the question)

We are still deciding the roster of Gondor and we want the team to be satisfied by it before we release any information regarding it.
