I'm a longtime modder who has been on and off the scene for almost a decade. I started modding in 2000 starting off with Westwood Studios' Command and Conquer series. My first ever mod was a solo effort dubbed "Soviet Revenge" for Red Alert 2. Quickly after producing my first mod I met a team of the most skilled individuals I have ever worked with and lead development for a Red Alert 2 total conversion named "Warhammer 40k - Red Alert." With over 42,000 downloads this was by far the most successful and full-fledged mod I have been a part of. After the end of that mod and the decline of Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 as a modding platform I've made minor mods for other games. My most current mod was Final Fantasy Tactics: Rebirth, a modification of the PSOne game Final Fantasy Tactics.

We actually had to switch to PPF in order to save bandwidth. Additionally this means the distribution contains 0% copyrighted material - meaning the modification won't be shut down by Square Enix, like Crimson Echoes.

Unfortunately we were unable to allow move cancelling. However all bows and crossbows have increased range, so that should be less of a problem.

Cloud is much better now. You still need to grab his Materia Blade, but his SOLDIER class now has better stats and better stat growth. For instance he is as fast as Ninjas and Thieves, but has the Physical Attack of Knights, additionally he has the Magic Attack of most mages.

Also his skills have been completely revamped, more similar to Knight Skills than regular magic like they were before.

Thank you for pointing out the error in terminology. You are correct, ROM generally refers to the older games based on Read Only Memory rather than optical memory. I have made the corresponding change in the news post.

Hmm, no audio? I guess you are having a codec problem, you might want to post in the forums for help on getting that fixed. Otherwise the artwork looks very well done, even if this kind of game isn't my cup of tea.

However it is interesting that you use action text to describe actions rather than animating them. Also for text where a character speaks to him or herself, you may want to use thought bubbles. Crunching the normal dialogue, action text, and thoughts all into the bottom panel makes things confusing.

I must say, the trailer has great production values - great music, cool film effect, and a brief but not too thorough look at the environment. I do have to agree with Darkenes and Wise_Willie's comments about the grass though; who the hell in the post-apocalyptic future is going to take the time to grow and mow nice grass like that? I would guess some kind of robot, maybe some Mr. Handy-Mans are about keeping the town running.

I think the animation in the video looks just right. Remember that the speed of the old Command and Conquer games (pre-RA2) were slow, such game play would have a hard time surviving in today's environment (go back and play those games and you will find yourself cranking up to speed slider almost all the way).

Although it is always nice to put up the relatively common pieces of information like posting in proper English and utilizing white space; what really caught my eye was the more advanced posts like the piece on layouts and thumbnails. Those categories in particular aren't really showcased unless you happen across a specific part of the site, and may be useful to veteran users.
