You always can put the reinforcement in overwatch mode with the right button and toggle that. The autoreinforce rule is a bit troublesome as it interacts with other actions.

It would be helpful if you point out what exactly you find inbalanced or broken or buggy as saying vagueties like those doesn't help anything. What is supposed to be corrected if there is no feedback? Are the devs able to read minds???

And also you have the Discord channel for feedback for any kind of rant or suggestion you may have.

Check if you have done a clean installation and not combined with anything else, because that is not the expected behaviour. Everyone else is doing well with Orks

Use Mod Manager
From there enable LAA or check that you have already it
Go to settings and tick off the "better teamcolours"
If that persist, use low or none persistent bodies and low terrain scar in large maps with new race factions.

It would be helpful to know which conditions you were using, large maps, factions, when the game crashed et al

What do you mean? The map editor? That only works well with Dark Crusade regrettably. However in the army painter you could take a picture, I think that a conveniently placed (not sure now of the path) white background would allow to do screenshots of every unit (not all of them are available but most of). Go to the official Discord if you have any doubt.

They are so tiny that the defiler cannot aim to smash them.

Also grots are known for being lucky.

The most advanced models in the army painter (AP) are "universal", in the sense that they contain every possible weapon or add on that it is decided to be featured or not for every faction that can make use of them (marines come in many flavors and the original ones are maintained close to what they were while other chapters can have some special weapon that others don't). It would not make very sense to have everybody having all the possible items because then the different factions would lose their preferred style, which is determined both by quirks and by the weapons they have available.

The other option would be to fix a single weapon in the army painter as the original game did but you lose the experience of looking at different implementations of your troops. I know that this is misleading as some combinations are not available but it's all or nothing in the AP.

There's also an additional problem which is that some abilities move from the grid for some (command) squads depending on the units that there are present, if I remember well. regrettably most of the time that keybind is needed the most for such abilities.

Some turrets are far expanded that they were, like the IG

The design of the mod/races builds up on the vanilla version. Most of the additions are to be chosen by ticking the winconditions, so apart from the (many!) fixes of the original game, you could play the same DOW:SS but with fancy models and bugfree if you want.

I say so because for example eldar rangers were designed with a single squad limit and the team hasn't changed the hard limits for the original ones and adapted the style for the rest of races. Or to look at from another perspective, once you start touching the limits for every possible squad you are falling into a rabbit hole of tweaks to preserve an illusion of a balance that in most of cases would be worse than the original game intended to have. Same for reusing warlocks (despite it is a interesting idea).

To do such a change there should be also a majority consensus on which squad needs it, which is most of the time not demanded, unless you consider to remove all limits*.

Regarding buildings, I think there's a wincondition to make them much more durable. I prefer to have those kinds of tweaks that can be toggleable and combined than an unmodifiable change that people may or not like.

About AI I have no clue, sorry. I am quite dumb playing and I struggle with hard or even standard in a bad day. I remember that in hard levels the AI was designed to "dance" (I suppose it is the same as kite).

Finally, the struggles on 8p maps with heavy content armies are normal because the mod is reaching the limits of the engine itself (which is a 32bit single core with older than 10 years). Advice is to use the LAA patch to remove the 2GB RAM limit and to set a parameter affecting textures to zero (I can't remember which, but it is mentioned elsewhere in this thread). If still the lag persists, set to zero the persistent bodies and terrain scarring.

---

*In such a case with limitless squads the game would not scale as well as it does, the low tier squads being completely overlooked in favor of relying consistently on the high tier ones, losing the appeal of the game. Ironically, I think that giving more freedom to build anything would eventually restrict the possibilities as spamming the high tier ones would dominate over the rest of strategies as it is a no brainer.

That's a bug of the engine itself happening in some systems, if I'm not wrong.

While it is legit to accept that a degree of objective imbalance may exist when a race is made and the rest are more developed after, it is also worth noting that genuine mechanics may not suit to everyone, as I understand that not everyone is equally proficient with every race. If the basic infantry goes after tier 2 is because a core of veterans comes first, for example.

What it is not to be made -never -is just another IG blueprint with fancy models and many vehicles for the sake of fancy models and many vehicles.

Bear in mind that using a colour slot for just that detail is like wasting a limited degree of freedom to colorize other parts. I wish there were six colors to choose instead of five...

Take it with calm. It is ambitious due to the lack of certain models that could expand a bit more the roles and abilities to get something playable for a full race.

The lack of vehicles at this moment has to be compensated somehow. Do not get disappointed by the small amounts of progress as long as there are progresses. Do not listen to the anxious people asking for the status of the mod. It may take years until you assemble all the pieces together.

You may learn new skills and there are people who will guide you on every aspect.

It should work with Unification. For better support tell us:
- which version of unification
- which version of Free UI and OP mod
- which mods were you combining, or was it just Black templars and no other race?
- which is the message that appears in warnings.log. When a mod doesn't load a FATAL ERROR message appears at the end.
- Run in -dev mode (edit the shortcut to the game to add " -dev") and look into the logfiles folder

Probably a drop in an ocean of comments but if any of you in Red Hook read this, it's a shame for modders that you haven't been able to correct the bug to make localization files for the non steam version.

There are players and modders who do not want to go through Steam in order to play or to download mods. If you make a version of a game which is only moddable properly with Steam you're shoehorning the modding community to that platform and version.

Despite of modders able to post their work in other places other than the Steam workshop (why not here, anyway?) you are simply making them lazy enough to try and thus, cutting the possibilities of further work by a bugged version, hence making your presence in this site completely irrelevant or as a bad joke.

My two cents.

R.

Please play it as recommended, otherwise errors are going to appear for sure because compatibility is not granted.

3.0 for now is stand-alone, do not combine yet even with Unification 4.0. Soon, a new version of Unification will make the mod compatible with the rest as usual.

The flames are a byproduct of a bad health condition in the marines, due to warp mumbo-jumbo. There's no reason that they appear in buildings or vehicles other than rule of cool and still I don't see a justification. The marines get flames when they are damaged.

The main problem with race mods these days is that they strive to add so much content that may lead to some imbalance, more difficult to iron out. But on the other hand, having many content is not a bless for a player if he doesn't know what to do. A vanilla race has enough content and is easier to learn and manage and should be enough to cope against new races.

That doesn't mean that AIs are better in some races than others. Tau are particularly infamous because they are difficult to beat.

All new races are bench tested in AI vs AI matches to get a balance. We think that if they get a roughly ratio of 50:50 are balanced. The races used are the vanilla ones, usually SM, Chaos Marines or the IG. Tau are harder to defeat. This doesn't mean that a player can have a more difficult time but on standard I don't think that there's no chance.

DOW AI is integrated too, I don't remember if it is possible to tweak it with some slider executable, at your own risk. This was a feature when it was released in stand-alone form.

Respect to some bonus to vanilla races, there is the integrated wargear mod, which restores the campaign leaders with the stuff they collected during the campaign as researches. That way you have a stronger leader than other races.
