It's a Steam Game.

Beware - Abandonware -> Developer is no longer supporting the Game. Last Patch is from July 2012. And a lot of Gamebreaking Bugs are not Fixed.

Cable bound 360 Controller works fine under Windows 8 Pro x64 after reconfig.
BTW. Why is Desura Version only 0.14 instead of 0.17?
