I tried explaining modding to my mom, but she JUST WON'T GET IT!! Her mind over-complicates the whole concept of changing the game and using things from the game to make new environments. The effort required to make things more understandable simply isn't worth it, considering that she doesn't even care anyways! So why bother?

My mom really has no interest in anything I do, except for my grades, which are never good enough for her... DAMMIT MY MOM IS FRUSTRATING!!

Umm, not really, but ok then.

If the game I'm playing has music in it (and I've never played one that hasn't had any), then that's the only music I'll listen to, because the in-game music is designed to correspond with what's going on in the game. For example, if there's suspense, then there's suspenseful music.

But when modding or otherwise working, music can sometimes motivate you, and other times distract you. For me, listening to music while working gives me something to try to tune out, which makes me concentrate harder. And when you concentrate harder, you get more done.

Some music can't be tuned out, like techno. So instead of tuning it out, you use it to motivate yourself.

And, oh yeah, I voted peace and quiet.

I like reading the little booklet, even though mostly everything in the booklet is eventually introduced to the player...
So I buy all my games at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, EB Games, etc.
