When I first heard about Brothers in Arms, it sounded like the perfect mixture of tactics and first-person action, and I wasn't disappointed. Early on, though, I was frustrated by certain things. I felt like there were a lot of commands missing, and the behavior of the AI squads could be improved a bit. I posted my suggestions on the Gearbox Forums, expecting a fix or mod to come out. Actually I thought that there was this huge modding community at the time, since every other WWII game seemed to have one, and Gearbox had released a pretty decent SDK with plenty of support from their own developers. Strangely, though, very few mods ever materialized. Three years later, I finally had some time to actually start modding Brothers in Arms myself. I started with the suggestions I had made such a long time ago, and just kept going. I have many more ideas that I may never get a chance to implement, because time is just very scarce these days...

Enable the console( Gamefaqs.com ), and type "BEHINDVIEW 1".

I'm going to include some camera adjustment controls for this in the next release.

Thanks! Well, the bots are supposed to wait for all humans to pick their teams first, then they fill the empty slots. So you should be able to play 2P vs 2CPU or 2P vs 1CPU+1P. If you use DemonicMPx you can play 2P vs 1P. Is this not working?

I have plans to get some new uniforms for MP but that will be a while. 4 to 6 in skirmish is just too much work, sorry.

Tell us more about your Steam group! Sounds exciting. You should post a link at Forums.gearboxsoftware.com there's still some guys modding MP maps there that would love to hear about it.

Yes, but you have to use the CustomMutators shortcut. Check the ReadMe section 1.3. I haven't tried it out too much myself, but I'm told that most of the mutators work. Skirmish is technically a MP map so both singleplayer and multiplayer mutators should work except WarZone, for instance. You can try WarZoneMP, though... let me know how it goes :)

I think you should try again, or try downloading from my website Sites.google.com
But if that doesn't work then try the Mac version; it's pretty much the same files without the Windows shortcuts.

Actually now that I think about it the "Mac" version is just an archive of the same files, so you could probably try that.

Yes, I do believe the problem is in the map scripts, but I haven't spent the time to figure out exactly how to get around it yet.

What's ADS? I don't think I will be adding much to Real Sights in the future. But you should try the MRW mod; he made the sights smaller just like you are asking.

Thanks, glad you like the new stuff. It wasn't my idea, though, I got it from working with a BiA fan named Jakub Przywara. A good chunk of the ideas for my mods are from players who email me, comment here, or post in the Gearbox forums.

Sorry, the .ini editing won't help. The problem is something to do with the scripts that load checkpoints overriding my mutator. I added this to my list of things to check out again.

I'm not sure why the shortcuts don't work, maybe you have a strange installation of this game?

For the .ini files, you have to look at where the game data is. There is a Brothers In Arms folder somewhere, and in that folder is another called System, and in that folder are the .ini files. But don't bother with that until you get the basic mutators working.

Rendroc Apr 2 2015, 2:55pm replied:

Well, if it is installed, then after you start the game you need to add mutators using the in-game menu. I have a video and some images on moddb that shows how to do it (and others on youtube) but basically before you start a chapter just look for the Mutators button at the bottom left.

If you hit that button and you don't see a list of the mutators in the mod, then it didn't install correctly. If there is no such mutator button at all, then you have an old version of RtH30 and you need to patch it. Good luck.

Absolutely. The mod uses Unreal "mutators" so it is easy to select which features you want to play with using the in-game mutator menu. It's in the ReadMe if this is confusing.

I guess the AI could use an extra layer of programming for moving through suppression. I'm not sure why the US soldiers have trouble finding cover, though. I guess I'll have to think about it some more. Your comments are really helpful, though. Thanks again!

They should only charge/assault if they can flank and outnumber the enemy. If they are doing a head-on assault against a strong and well-positioned squad, that is a problem. How does this compare to what you've seen?

Thanks for the feedback! I thought I did a decent job with the AI but as you discovered it isn't perfect. They are always trying to maneuver but sometimes there just isn't any cover to run to. I probably need to add something to check for those cases.
