ok the speed mesured by distance is because gravity wells pull a ship out of hyperspace, and the faster a ship is going the stronger the gravity well needs to be to pull it out. the Melenium Falcon was able to complete the kessel run in a shorter distace because it could fly closer to stars and planets and such.
don't mean to sound like a jerk but it bothers me when people critisize that
