I find it ironic that people can vote and think so highly of mods that are yet to be released. Proof of concepts, renders, lengthy updates are all well and fine, but if there's one thing I've learned from mods through the years is that the longer the development time, the more out-of-touch the mod will get with the fan base, in the sense that expectations will skew in one direction while the mod takes another.

It happened with FH2, touted as some 'super mod' for battlefield 2, and lo and behold it crashed, and crashed hard [here in Australia at least]. The same is happening with Black Mesa, it looks great in concept but at the end of the day, they're just making Half life again, which is a pretty mammoth task in itself, but it doesn't feel like it holds true to the 'mod' philosophy, which is taking the engine in a new direction... it seems to be taking it backwards in the same direction. To each their own I suppose.
