I'm Rob Kimball. I play Photoshop.
Nope, just fan art. :)
There is installation instructions in the read-me documentation included in this download.
Nope, no Scythians in the original release. However if there's enough interest, I'm sure there will be a mod for them.
Yes, there will be campaigns. :)
Most of the team members, including myself, were once modders from the 'Age of' series community. As such, one of our aspirations is to recreate our favorite aspects of those games and improving what we didn't like.
Thank you, and thanks to all of the voters who helped us make the top 100. I have to say, I'm thrilled. :D
For the civilizations we intend to include in this open source release, we're essentially done with the art assets. We just need some activity from members that are already familiar with the code base; as in new members in the programming department wouldn't speed up production very much. They're always welcome to apply, of course.
The team is working towards an open source release in the near future, but there are a few gameplay elements that are still missing from the game in its current state that need to be implemented before we'd be willing to make an official release.
Yes, the game will be available completely free of charge.
Wow, that looks awesome. I like how all the weapons in this game look new, rather than scratched up and second-hand. Great design too. :)
Seriously though, I might just have to buy UT3 just to play this mod, because it looks that amazing. The art in this mod is immensely better than most commercial games. When you guys first started out, I considered applying as a texture artist, and then you released your first render, and I pretty much **** myself. At that point, I realized how much more insignificant of an artist I am than I realize, and I kinda set new aspirations for myself. Your work has inspired me to be more creative and even more of a perfectionist than I thought I was already. I've had this on my mind for a while, but I felt like it needed to be put into words. Just one question: Will this mod be available for the Mac version of UT3? If so, you just earned that much more respect in my mind.
Anyways, congratulations to the Warm Gun team. Your hard effort has forced human excretion. :)
Hm, maybe. What's your MSN again?
I figured. It's a shame, because we were on the right track, we just didn't have enough artists that could actively contribute to the game. I was really looking forward to the next great multi-platform FPS.. ah well.
Welcome to ModDB man. :)
Hey Dark, whatever happened to the Phenomena site? The server is up but the folder is gone.
Those level preview shots on your site look amazing! Excellent work! Honestly, most of them look like photos.
Best of luck to you. I'll be watching. :)
Looks like a manta ray.
Also note that most textures are more standardized than this and will not include many of the aspects shown in this particular example. Props, including heads, weapons, shields, helmets and miscellaneous distinctive items such as the scabbard will be attached using the Actor Editor as described in the recent ModDB news update. Unless features of the limbs are unique or non-symmetrical, the base texture has been modified to otimize space, duplicating the arm and leg texture for both arms and both legs.
Yes. In fact, many of the members of our local community at WildfireGames.com have already begun planning mods to start development at time of the public alpha release.
I think I'll have to buy a new computer just to play this game since the Windows emulator on my Mac only supports through DirectX 8.3. Sad, I know.
Hey someone with good taste in music. :)
I love the interface. You have all done such an incredible job on this mod. I might just have to buy Unreal just to play this.
Hm. Looks like one of those creepy 'get out of the house' flash games.
Looks like you boys need a texture artist!
But the models look fantastic. Well done.
Great stuff! The only thing I didn't like about the entire video was the moving lava texture (could be slightly higher resolution so that it matches the rest of the game) and the buggy texture, which was a little bit too green and perfect for the environment - add some rust, bumps and scratches.
Sounds like you also got some good voice actors to come in, which is fantastic. Definitely a mod I'd download if I had Doom III.
Fun interview. :) Personally I prefer 'Mod Database' over 'Mod DB', but call it what you like, it's home.
I predict that this game will blow any commercial RTS out of the water, not necessarily because of what we're releasing, but because of what this engine is capable of. Since it's built specifically for modders, the game won't die unless modders stop modding, which I doubt will ever happen. The game will continue to be improved by the community with new ideas and new mods until we have some sort of super engine.
The forums seem to be down right now and I haven't talked to Dean in a few weeks, but I'll try to get a hold of him. :)
Wait until you see it in action.
I posted about our arrival back mid-May.
This game reminds me of Fractal.
Many of the developers on the team were previously modders for AoK and AoM, myself included. The game is very much inspired by the Age of series, but strives to cater to what the modder wants out of the game, and has a much more flexible engine
