Hey FireSpike - thanks for taking the time to comment.
Yes, ORION: Prelude will in fact include dinosaurs and vehicles. Go check it all out at:
It is true - the Kick Starter promotion ends in roughly 5 hours. It was a huge 30 day event. While the KickStarter rewards were specific to the Kick Starter promotion - our normal donation system will be going back online (uses PayPal) once Kick Starter ends.
We will offer other incentives in the future and are always happy to talk one on one and work directly with you to gauge some package and reward ideas.
If you would like to talk, feel free to email personally at:
We agree with you - what was displayed was a pre-alpha. All that "neat" stuff comes once the foundation is done being laid out :)
The technology is great. There are quite a few awesome technology demonstrations that I have that really push that technology. The problem is, that it all depends on the developer. There are a few games that really utilize it nicely, others are sloppy integrations and are more of a headache than a joy.
It's relatively easy, and NVIDIA will be assisting us the entire way.
While it's for a limited crowd (not a huge population having access to 3D tech yet) - it is definitely worth it when it's done right.
Let me know if you want some of the 3D tech demos I have - email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope you notice this post was listened to ;)
Probably my only complaint towards KickStarter - however it is not there fault.
Right now, Amazon Business is the only e-pay site that allows KickStarter to do "pledges" - where you pledge an amount and it doesn't take it out of your account until the very end.
However, once KickStarter is over our normal donation system will be back online - and it uses PayPal.
ORION: Prelude is scheduled for release on XBLA / PSN / STEAM.
Thanks man, we appreciate the kind words ;)
Yes, we actually don 't have a preference for it - we accept both.
Alt - air
Or Alt - I - Air (assassin's creed style).
Yessir, you have exactly what you need :)
Glad you got it.
They should be up. Make sure to "un-check" the "Show Map List" box at the bottom of the "Find Servers" screen.
We have released the SDK - and we are more than happy to give tips on how we did things and anything we might have laying around here.
However, we are a very small studio and are unable to focus on this - as it was mostly to get feedback from you guys and implement it into the "real deal".
We do however, love to play with you guys.
Unreal Engine 3.0
It's a time-investment competition. People win - people lose.
It's up to you if an hour of your time is worth all of the above.
If it makes you feel any better - I used an on-board laptop microphone for recording "The Indie Dream" trailer.
Our audio team is capable of cleaning up quite a bit ;)
This is the alien medic gun :)
Everyone should submit! It's a $400-$500 video card for no more than an hour of your time!
Plus, why can't there be a British announcer? In fact I think we need to cover that base and have at least one British Announcer..
It is such a great card - I am running them as well.
Love love this card.
Thanks man - we really appreciate it.
Make sure to check out the new competition that goes live tomorrow - you can have a chance to win an incredible NVIDIA GTX 480 video card - simply by using your voice! Not to mention - being put in the game AND credits!
We are aiming to release ORION: Prelude for $14.99 on all platforms.
Not to mention the insane amount of free DLC that will come after it as well ;)
We are going to host a "Play With Devs" Match - we are aiming for March 6th right now. As we get closer we will make a public announcement (after GDC) :)
FNC-30 Assault Rifle
Medic Gun (Support Class)
TREK-22 Sniper Rifle
Thanks man - we hope everyone here can attend the 'Play With Devs' Source Beta match that we are lining up for March (after GDC).
Details will come in the next few weeks ;)
The Source Beta was very far from ever being a "complete product". It was (and still is) a Beta 1 release. There would have been at least 20 more versions towards it before it became a release candidate. Spending that much time on an experiment in which we already gathered the proper information - wasn't worth it nor possible given we are a small independent developer.
We believe the fans will be much happier with an overall complete product - with the features they want - which will be found in 'ORION: Prelude'
We were limited by the technology - we coulnd't incorporate the features that we (and you guys) wanted - in a way that we were comfortable with - which were dinosaurs and vehicles among many more.
The ORION: Project (Source Beta) was also created as a prototype - an experimental playground. We released and built it for free to obtain feedback from the community - and then integrated and applied to the game world. All of this information and feedback was used for our studios first endeavor (and full game), 'ORION: Prelude'.
Yessir, we have every intention of getting Prelude to be available on Desura as well.
