I've started a new group for R.E.A.R.M. Development:
It's also for alpha testers, so if you want to become one, send me a PM.

The version 0.0.3c will be released soon. Yes, it has been delayed because of many things -school exams, new Kadeshi race from Mololu I had to modify, my last crazy idea to implement the High Command, but once I'll polish everything, I'll finally upload it.

Have you visited relicnews forums? That's where I learned how to mod. I'm afraid I can't make you a youtube tutorial, because I really hate my own voice.

ok i have changed just about everything that i wanted to
but if you are releasing you mod soon i will wont go any further
ill wait for your new version to come out and edit that (if it still needs editing)

i was able to change all of the names i wanted EXCEPT for the double and triple turrets but only in the construction menu. the floating names were changed. i used the search on notepad and it couldn't find any "doubles" or "triples" in any of the file. weird eh?

my last question is about how to remove units
is there a way to just remove a single file so that the ships can easily be removed or added back in without having to muck with the notepad stuff

your help has been instrumental
thank you

Hi Pouk,
I found a comment you left on my Profile and commented back there, didn't want you to think I was ignoring it.

I actually have two Questions:
1. a similar question like "MassDownloader" but a little more specific ^^
I'm 16 years old and using Cinema 4D for almost 3 years now. I've done some modeling with Box-modeling and poly2poly Modeling and made progress (but it's just a hobby)
Well my question is now what programs do you use? I've never even remotely done something like modding so I have no clue how xD

2. Unfortunately your mod is only available for PCs. I've searched for something to install the mods on a mac and came across this:
"If desired, back up the Homeworld 2 data folder

Put the .big file in the data folder

Open Terminal

In finder, go to the Homeworld2 application, right click and select 'open package contents'.

In the package, go to Contents>MacOS

Drag the 'Homeworld 2" file you see there (a unix executable file) to the terminal. The terminal should show something like:
/Applications/Homeworld\ 2/Homeworld\\ 2

Add " -mod modname.big" to the end of the line, so it looks soemthing like this:
/Applications/Homeworld\ 2/Homeworld\\ 2 -mod Flagships.big

Hit return, the program launches with the mod."
(I can't include the link because my account is too new -.-)

It does launch the game with the mod (I see the customised menu-screen) but when I wanna launch a game it crashes. (I'm using Snow Leopard, so 64bit)
Is that a PC error too or just because something went wrong when adding the mod on the mac?

thx in advance

Hi. First of all, sorry for such late answer, but I don't check my profile page that much.

1) I use 3DsMax, but if we are talking about Homeworld modding, it really doesn't matter. All you need is the export to .obj files.

2) Macs. Well, I know nothing about them to be honest, I don't know how things works there. Before I've got Kadeshi, one of the three main goals for 0.0.3c was to make REARM fully Mac compatible. But right now I don't have time for this, I have to prepare Kadeshi first.
But crashes on Macs are caused by new gamerules. So there's another Game Type option called "Mac Compatibility Mode", just switch Deathmatch to this and you'll be able to play it.

Most tools needed for modding Homeworld 2 can be downloaded on the Relic Forums. and for instance. In general, for HW2 modding, you probably want to ask questions on the Relic forums instead of ModDb. In addition to the tools that are free to download, you will want a 3D modelling program for making or editing ships physical polygons, and a graphical manipulation program for making or editing textures. There are several plugins that can also be found on the Relic forums for commonly used HW2 modding tools like Maya and Photoshop.

The Relic forums is also the place to go for questions regarding mac compatibility for vanilla HW2. It will be up to modders to make their mods mac compatible as well though. Some have, but many haven't unfortunently.

Pouk im a 14 year old boy from the netherlands(holland) and im intrested in making mods/games later. and i thought what is a better way to learn it than by a real modder^^ and i was hoping you maybe could teach me how to make mods for games or maybe the basics for it. cause if i get good in modding i maybe can help you make mods for some games.

thanks in advance.

Hi. I had it the other way around. I'm not really a modder, I'm more a 3D animator than modder. I've studied an industrial design on the secondary school, started do be interrested in 3D graphics very soon and now I study animation. And then later I've realised that I have pretty much all the skills I need for modding. But I'm not supposed to make mods, I should do other much more useful things, modding is just my hobby, so I'm not really sure what should I tell you.

But tell me what exactly do you want to do? Modelling? Coding? My advice is not to show your progress on the modding forums, but on the forums about 3D graphics etc, you'll learn more that way.

14? Why your profile says 29?
