I am the creator of the Rise of Nations modification: Leaders and Cities, available through the mods link of my profile page. In addition to this I am also the creator of an ongoing series of map packs for Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour called Zero Hour Battlefields. These map packs can also be found through the mods link on my profile as well. I also enjoy doing a little artwork on the side.

So, I have the latest diplomacy version of SoA 2, but for some reason there doesn't appear to be any phaser fire. It just uses the standard laser-ish fire of the original game. Anyone know why this is happening?

You're very right. To be honest, I made these many years back just for fun, mainly to just make some interesting gameplay. I planned on making some more polished maps but now that I'm in college the whole thing is pretty much on hold until I have free time.

For some reason when I open the game it's just a black screen. I can hear all the sounds, but no image. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, not sure if anyone has encountered this problem before.

Hey, thanks for commenting on my map pack, I really do appreciate the feedback. I hadn't even looked at those maps in a long time and your right on with your suggestions. I appreciate some good honest structured criticism. Thanks again!

I definitely plan on more complex maps and some with more than two players, so I'll definitely take all this into consideration. Thanks for the feedback!

Um, I'm pretty sure that comment didn't make sense. Listen, all I'm saying is that people really ought to grow up and make some real criticisms, not just some rant with intermittent cursing. I'm not saying this mod shouldn't be criticized, I'm saying it should be intelligently criticized, as in, let them know what they need to do without simply cursing at them. I don't see why you guys don't understand that.

Does anyone know why I keep getting a corrupted file error every time I download the mod? It doesn't matter what the source is, it's always the same thing. It always says that the file is either damaged or corrupt when I try to extract it. Does anyone know why?

PlaidBaron Sep 12 2009, 11:42pm replied:

You know, honestly, I've made my point on this subject, if you can't take the time to make an actual criticism and instead feel obligated to spit out insults, then perhaps you should consider not posting at all. Furthermore, I'm not particularly angry, so this "thumb up my ***" does not in fact exist, believe me, I tend not to pay too much attention to shallow insults. Thirdly, yes, I have looked at many more indie games, and I will point out that I have been on ModDB for far longer than you, and currently work on a few mods myself. Fourth, I do apologize for the karma system comment, I don't know who is issuing the karma, so I do appreciate you not messing with it.

Lastly, as for the "fake karma", I don't know exactly what you're referring to. If you are talking about the negative karma on your comment, I swear to you it was not my doing, as I've said, I do not use the system at all. If you're referring to the extra karma on my comment, go ahead and try adding a karma point to your own comment, I will point out that it is in fact, impossible. In either case, as I've said before, I do not use the system. Period.

So, have a nice life, and try to perhaps be a bit more logical in the future, because I will not waste any more of my time arguing with someone such as yourself.

Thank you!

Believe me dude, I'm not trying to be "high and mighty", after all, I'm not the one telling people that their mod sucks, and subtracting karma from other people's comments. Because to me, that sounds like you think you're hot ****. No, I'm only trying to tell you that all the insulting doesn't tell the people working on this mod what needs to be done. I agree, they need some in-game shots, and yes, you were polite at first, but when he just said he wanted to wait a while, you got nasty, for no reason. (Oh, and go ahead, lower this karma score even more, I honestly couldn't care less, if it makes you feel better about it.)

Oh, and before you try, I'm not the one who lowered your previous comment's karma score, I'm not that petty.

Hey, don't pay too much attention to these guys, although it would be a good idea to post some in-game shots, no matter how poor you think it might be. Otherwise it just makes it seem like you're just modeling. In any case though, these guys are being too harsh. Come on people, can we at least have some logical and civil criticism. I understand your point of view, but it's just making you guys look ridiculous and completely immature. It really discredits everything you say.

Looks pretty good! The only problem is the stock is slightly off. In a real m-40, the stock has a sort of notch in the bottom of the stock. It sorta looks like a small rectangle missing from the stock. But, for an RTS I suppose it doesn't matter too much. Just a suggestion, keep up the good work!

The only other problem I see, is that the pistol grip is a bit too square. It's a little more smoothed out on a real Ak47. Other than that, and the previous comments, it's actually looking quite good!

It has come to my attention that a file was uploaded on my mod profile Zero Hour Battlefields by you. I don't know whether or not this was accidental, but I ask you not to do this without consulting me first. Therefore, I have removed the file. Maybe you were confused as how to upload files, and this was an accident, but if you have any questions, please PM me.

Thank you,
