Oh okay cool. After playing it I'm not surprised why everyone likes it so much! :) Well worth it, best of luck with continued development.
I love seeing a well built interesting game, and then seeing it's made with Ogre, been using it for 2 and a half years and absolutely love it. Definitely picking this up for the weekend :)
Out of curiosity what do you guys use for UI? CEGUI?
This is looking really nice guys! I remember using Game Maker forever ago when it was relatively new and it looks like it's come a long way. The game looks fantastic and the material idea sounds awesome. Best of luck on development.
I think the ammo system is fantastic, you wouldn't want it to drop the type you have selected because what if an ally needs some different type of ammo you have? I think from looking at it for the first time it might seem a bit complicated but in time it will probably just become second nature to drop certain ammo. I think it adds a lot more depth to the game great job guys!
Ah okay, that clarifies things. I think that is great, this way it feels like it compliments Steam much more, can't wait to see how it goes in the future :)
This is fantastic! I really like how it's like a moddb/indiedb condensed with downloading available which makes it much easier to download and maintain games. Looks really slick too guys great job. So this will not be a replacement/competition for steam? From the vibe I get and what is mentioned games like CoD will not be sold through Desura?
Really great guys, nice atmosphere, music was nice, looks like it will be really good. I was going to mention some little things but you said they were placeholders :)
Looks nice, you don't need to have a poly count range to be a good model, it's about the details you can get on the model without drastically increasing poly count. Especially since you guys plan on doing large scenes you may want a lot of low detail models. You should encourage anyone to try modelling you might find someone learning and getting better who really has potential.
I've only pirated a game when I already have owned it but have lost the cds or cd keys.
Check out the wiki it has all the info about the game.
Wow, looks fantastic! Faces/Men of war is such a great game with more people played it.
I've used SDL_Net which is really nice. I don't know if that would even be useful though. I coded up some Huffman Coding trees and just sent packed memory buffers using it for a 2d tanks game that was kind of lame but an exciting project it's always fun to figure stuff out :P
I think it's a good start. I would suggest making a few subtle instances similar to this, where you are not necessarily looking straight at the entities. This would give you that sensation of "What was that? Did I just imagine that?" Anyway, good luck :)
Played quite a bit of Age of Chivalry, really enjoyed it. I will definitely keep an eye on this. Looks very nice. I hope the fluid movement system is truly fluid. There are very few games that capture realistic movement and combat. Assassins Creed is a good example, having a non-button combo fighting system (Like Mount&Blade) but still that fluid feel like Creed did would probably make me cry with epic. All the best of luck :)
They said "proud to announce that the alpha is coming soon to preorders" however that was Jan 5th and I think someone said something about they said weeks away but it is still in the air as far as I know. I can't wait for it xD
If you look at the forum post there are several other pictures, many of them showing off really cool lighting techniques like those in the engine walk through video including a few with light shining through several fan blades, and vents if I remember correctly, looks really great.
Their treatment of players and modders? Valve is always very attentive to their players, constantly patching, releasing content, and functioning around what players want the most not what they think will sell the most. Also, how the hell do they treat their modders poorly? How many other games do you know of (or engines rather) that you can create a full conversion mod for with fair ease with all of the tutorials and sdk tools... You have not played L4D2 yet have you? I personally probably will not be buying it until the price goes down but you don't need to be a ****. One thing you think is a poor choice and all of the developers are ****?
Wow that was nice, the first time I saw news about this mod was like 2 days ago and now there is a public release! Looking forward to playing it :)
Wow for hl1, these graphics and effects look outstanding. Great work :)
I'm thinking it may be for the PSP? The banner makes me think that and the models look low poly count so it would make sense if it was going for the portability :)
I think it was supposed to be. I don't see why Valve wouldn't let them or why they wouldn't. When age of chivalry and all those mods got released on steam there was a huge spike in players. Personally, I think PVK2 is the best and most well done HL2 total conversion out there and can't wait to see it on steam.
I think that releasing a L4D2 at full price may be a little inappropriate, if it were released for 30 dollars I would be glad to get it since from screens it basically very similar in terms of graphics and mechanics an such. 30 dollars would give them good revenue and still be affordable (similar to Crysis: Warhead)
Beautiful landscape, great work.
Looks great, keep up the awesome work!
This engine looks incredible, I cannot wait for this game to be released. Great work guys!
keep up the great work!
This keeps looking better and better, it must be fun developing this engine and showing it off :)
looks great guys :)
Looking forward to this mods release =D
This is so awesome. Best UT3 Mod i've ever seen EXCELLENT work guys :)
Can't wait till open beta.
This would be crazy cool, but it does seem like a little stretch and it's April fools so...
Thanks a lot, dabbling around aimlessly was fun but this looks like it could go in a direction =D
Looks amazing, the pistol seems a little overpowered and the animation of the fire looks a little odd, but great music, awesome explosion effects :) Can't wait.
I think it's pretty awesome, love the defense attack type gameplay with all the explosions and stuff going off. Feels really intense with all the particle effects and shell shock. I think it's great, don't really care for the KF mode though, like others said, a bit too difficult.
Very cool, everything looks great.
Yeah, that would be insane. Renegade X as a stand alone O.O I've been wanting to play but don't wanna reinstall UT3 >.<, if this were a standalone I know a ton of people that would get it in a heartbeat :)
That's awesome <3 Valve
Nice! been pumped for this for a long time :)
Well, I mean, there was no preorder requirement :P I'm guessing that most preorders were people who loved NS1. That's the basis for the gameplay. If you played NS1 and loved it you'd be inclined to preorder. There was the teaser trailer that showed off the engine along with many concepts. So you knew what it was going to look like and you had an idea what the gameplay was going to be like. Since its a sequel you could assume its going to be a lot better to in terms of features. I've shelled out way more money going on less information. I think this game will be amazing, I loved NS1 and will be preordering very soon :)
Very cool looking, great looking atmosphere, can't wait :)
Very cool, looking forward to this mod :)
Very cool! That gameplay looked great. I'll have to reinstall GoW :) Keep up the great work.
Very cool, looking forward to this :)
Wow looks cool, I'm downloading it now!
Wow looks really nice, love the poster :)
2000+ seems a little like overkill, unless it's a gaming laptop or something. 1200 bucks can get you a pretty nice rig that should be able to play anything, unless you buy it from Alienware or something :) Building your own FTW!
Wow that looks great, very fluid and realistic. Great work
Nice this keeps looking better and better :)
Oh wow, I'm surprised I never noticed that. I used to play it a lot too :P Maybe the projectile speed was decreased? Or maybe I was just lagging lol
It's really great. Fantastic work guys, this post is a little late, the game was up for download yesterday morning or something. Was happy to see so many people playing it. I'm not sure if this is true but it seems as if the bullets are now fast projectiles and not like instant calculations like in Counter Strike. I'm not sure if thats true but that's what it feels like. Either way really loving it keep it up :)
Wow this looks fantastic, looks like a lot of hard work went into this, all the effects look great! Can't wait to get it :)
Nice I played this mod so much :) can't wait for the new release sounds great.
Glad to hear this is still chuggin along, really looking forward to playing it. The 40k universe is one of my favorites :)
Overgrowth is really looking fantastic, between that and Natural Selection 2 Indie games are growing on me fast :)
Wow really great models guys keep up the great work :)
Nice! I was hoping we'd get some more updates soon, once this hits steam I'm sure the fan base will be enormous. I can't wait :)
<3 Pie, but Ice Cream Cake > Pie.
Keep up the great work!
looks great, keep up the good work.
I've run it on a P4 3.4GHz w/ 800XT Radeon card and it ran pretty well. One thing I noticed is that with that computer I could not get any shadowing to work but have been able to with my newer computer dual core 3.0 GHz GeForce 9800GT. It's most likely the shaders with the older card but I think it runs on almost anything :)
