I do level design in Source Engine as a hobby. I enjoy trying to make Source not look like Source, if you know what I mean.
I wonder if I am the only one who noticed the future trend to be simplicity.
Many companies like Microsoft or Google are reverting from expensive logos and renders to simple vectors and "flat" fonts.
Most of the games releasing recently focus less on being realistic and more on being low-poly adventure worlds or 8-bit render games.
It's interesting if you let that thought sink in.
Also I want rose petals falling from the trees :D

You are also very correct, simplicity is the current meta. Logos, images, games. I definitely don't mind it, its really pleasing to look at. :)
