Implemented in 0.8.4.
More than that actually, we intend to create a slider to better adjust the effects of those.
The mini game has been reported by other players, yes. It is a bug that we will fix next version.
As for the assault, it stays the same every time (same amount of ASPs for the enemy, different setups) but the daemonic hero keeps leveling up with you. You can easily defeat them though even if you do not enter combat at all, provided that all of your allies (Xanthos, Xunthor, Quinton AND Fallan) are alive to help you.
The campaign is mostly there to provide an item stash (by popular demand) for your hero, which is why the intro parts are small. Still you can obtain quite a lot of different acts by replaying over and over and making other choice combinations.
BTW, if you play with heroes whose race can have babies (knights, dwarves, barbarians, elves, empire, plaguelord) you get the Dragon's Maze start. There you can reach the endscreen in 9 different ways - as opposed to The Wastes beginning (undead, minotaur, orc, fey, daemon, ssrathi, swarm) where there are only 3 (but more choices on how to win battles).
Really thin ankles!
0.8 FULL is a FULL pack and doesn't require any extra files to work. PATCHES require previous patches and a full version installed prior. To get to 0.8.3 you need to apply 0.8 full then 0.8.1 then 0.8.2 then 0.8.3.
I can't reproduce that. Are you sure you installed correctly? First download and install 0.8 FULL then apply the patches consecutively.
That seems to be a bug, although I am not able to reproduce it. Care to open a thread on the forum detailing the exact steps to achieve this crash?
I would too. Money come and go but a trophy will always be there to admire and remember throughout your life.
And 2.6 work in progress. Really cool stuff!
Indeed it can. Just right click TheProtectors.exe -> Properties -> Compatibily and check Run in compatibility mode for windows xp SERVICE PACK 2 (or lower).
It seems that The Protectors reached top 10 on ModDB. We thank all of you beta testers and hope to continue having fun creating and improving this fantastic game together!
Well the area where you can move is determined by a rectangle, but the numbers continue on next column as well. Since the top right options were grayed you probably got (randomly) spawned in the top-right corner of the rectangle/ playing field. Gorgon's Lair should always be reachable though, so that is definitely not supposed to happen. Thanks for pointing it out!
to admin: there are no spoilers in giving out the way in that maze since it's always randomly generated.
Support for 1600, 1680 and 1920 added in 0.8.3 :)
THe old Dwarf Infantry model is already used in TPC as a special character, but still your proposition is open for debate.
there is a polish community but they are kind of elitists. other than that you can try on facebook and forums.
all you need is a bmp (visuals), a txt (hierarchy in editor) and a .fea file containing passable/inpassable squares. Optionally you need a .ani file if it is an animated feature. Then you strap them all into one big xcr file.
There are tools to make things easier, but you need to sign a contract to get a hold on them. Or, if you have a feature that you want to see in TPC, I can do it for you if you just send me the design image.
Their range is really small. Basically they just throw their axes on occasion instead of swinging them.
I have found some help on the old battlefield forums. It seems that the unit editor MFC (latest version is 1.05b) loads amongst others, HeroData.xcr and Items.xcr. The later is usually the problem.
I had the same problem but i propably know a solution: Rename your item.xcr (english folder of the game) to something (i have added a "B") and try to start the editor. If it will start search in the folder where your WBC3 is installed in my version was a weird WBC3 temp data. Erase it and don't forget to rename you Item.xcr." says Darq.
You can visit the topic in discussion yourself at: Archiv.the-battlefield.com
Frostbat tweaked in 0.8.3. Thanks for your notice.
I actually had the same problem with a video I uploaded on moddb of my own mod. I think they are having some technical problems.
Yep. I was able to reproduce that "real" problem and it has been reported by multiple people. We are still strugling to fix it, but I'm afraid the next version (coming soon) will still inherit it. Worry not, we have unleashed the heavy artillery to kill this bug so it won't survive for long.
As for new content, I can confirm that the next version will reveal more of the story behind TPC, but it will not be another chapter.
But it's a great mod title... :(
Make sure you DO NOT install the unit editor in The Protectors folder. For some reason they don't cope well one with another. Either install the Unit Editor in the original game directory or use another xcr editor.
After more tests the problem is clear. Your computer needs to be able to run in a 800x600 resolution for the menus to load. I will see if something can be done about this in future releases.
For those of who you have problems with the self-extracting installation pack (MAC users), I have uploaded v0.8.2 FULL RAW pack on the official website.
Hmm. Try deleting all content from the Video folder (but not the folder itself). Maybe make a back-up.
What do you mean by "the game won't run"? Does it leave an error message upon accessing TheProtectors.exe? Does it crash in game?
If you mean programming language, then it is C++. We could always use some more help. After all, this whole project is based on volunteer work. ANY area of expertise would be great, but our main lack as for spring 2014 is:
1) Storyteller. Write quests, dialogues, ideas to happen in The Protectors Campaign.
2) GFX artist. Design menus, loading screens, intro clips, portraits etc. Especially 2D design.
3) Mapper. Create scenarios using the in-game editor for either singleplayer or multiplayer use.
Thank you for your kind words. If you're interested, please drop me a Private Message (PM).
Wow, The Protectors has entered top 30 on moddb. Thank you all for the support! We hope to bring you a fun, interesting and memorable RTS/RPG/Puzzle game and this achievement only brings us closer to our goal.
Thanks for the suggestions, we will look into them. Some units have been left out to make races easier to balance. After we found the perfect recipe, we might add the left out units with already balanced stats (according to said recipe).
You can always upload your maps and share them via the protectors forum or, if you prefer, you can send me an e-mail attachment and I will include some of them in the next release as official TPC scenarios. Private Message me if you're interested.
Thank you for the feedback,
You should always check the forums when having issues. Chances are the problem was already dealt with: The-protectors.forumstopic.com
Delete MyDocuments/Warlords Battlecry 3/Saved Games folder (or your hero's save file)
Some units are temporary left out on purpose. See The-protectors.forumstopic.com and other such topics
Next patch (0.8.1) should pop up this year.
I am really happy to hear that, but I'm afraid it would be illegal. Infinite Interactive, the producers of the original game Warlords Battlecry 3, is not distributing the source code on terms of any monetary gain or exchange. This is a mod, everything works on a volunteer basis - and if I were to gain any direct profit out of TPC, I would be sued.
I just realized the banner on top of this page is all about boobs. lol
