Ah yes. He had this great idea of thinking the building's structure with chains pulled by gravity. The result would be an upside down version of the final building, an organic cave-like form. 100 years later, some people still have problems conceiving such architecture.

Certainly. All chapter heroes (along with their items, skills and whatnot) will be able to join as companions in the main campaign after doing a series of missions, if the player wishes so.
Also, if you try to free Gorgon with a fey hero (0.8.3 and later), the fey will abandon you, and your hero will never be able to produce any units in future missions. It's you alone for all the maps, until you turn the fey back to allies or find another ally (which can only be done later in the campaign) :)
That pretty much sums it. AI heroes were never affected by the items they were wearing (particularly in damage type and spell chances per hit) and now, with version 0.8.4, not only was that bug fixed, but companions get the levels, skills, stats, spells, items, retinue etc. from the previous chapters as well (in beta, Esgaleth). Therefore, it is good to first finish the chapters before playing the campaign.

Arcane spell sphere is useful for wizards as they are spell improvement spells. Divination is a mix of spells useful for any type of heroes, including warriors.
You only get to select a spell sphere once it is available for your hero (race and class) in the skills tree - if you hover over a grayed out skill, a popup will tell you the required level to unlock it. Some heroes (race class combos) don't get to cast any spells.
As for the first ssrathi ambush not spawning ESGALETH (you were close heh!) - it is a bug I noticed before release but had no time to deal with it. Thanks for the heads up though.
The mini game has been reported by other players, yes. It is a bug that we will fix next version.
As for the assault, it stays the same every time (same amount of ASPs for the enemy, different setups) but the daemonic hero keeps leveling up with you. You can easily defeat them though even if you do not enter combat at all, provided that all of your allies (Xanthos, Xunthor, Quinton AND Fallan) are alive to help you.
The campaign is mostly there to provide an item stash (by popular demand) for your hero, which is why the intro parts are small. Still you can obtain quite a lot of different acts by replaying over and over and making other choice combinations.
BTW, if you play with heroes whose race can have babies (knights, dwarves, barbarians, elves, empire, plaguelord) you get the Dragon's Maze start. There you can reach the endscreen in 9 different ways - as opposed to The Wastes beginning (undead, minotaur, orc, fey, daemon, ssrathi, swarm) where there are only 3 (but more choices on how to win battles).

0.8 FULL is a FULL pack and doesn't require any extra files to work. PATCHES require previous patches and a full version installed prior. To get to 0.8.3 you need to apply 0.8 full then 0.8.1 then 0.8.2 then 0.8.3.

Well the area where you can move is determined by a rectangle, but the numbers continue on next column as well. Since the top right options were grayed you probably got (randomly) spawned in the top-right corner of the rectangle/ playing field. Gorgon's Lair should always be reachable though, so that is definitely not supposed to happen. Thanks for pointing it out!
to admin: there are no spoilers in giving out the way in that maze since it's always randomly generated.
I have found some help on the old battlefield forums. It seems that the unit editor MFC (latest version is 1.05b) loads amongst others, HeroData.xcr and Items.xcr. The later is usually the problem.
I had the same problem but i propably know a solution: Rename your item.xcr (english folder of the game) to something (i have added a "B") and try to start the editor. If it will start search in the folder where your WBC3 is installed in my version was a weird WBC3 temp data. Erase it and don't forget to rename you Item.xcr." says Darq.

Yes, anything can happen at any time (battle, dialogue, shop, etc.) just like an ambush when traveling, with the addition that sometimes you can back out of it a.k.a. loosing that opportunity (not in the case of this image).
Needless to say, I was Gold and really just trying to survive (hence the fortress - the dwarven way of winning through defense!)
I am glad to tell you that the rectangle bug you reported earlier is fixed in 0.8.2 as well as the rally point.
I will post an article about this new thing soon. In short, the hosting player can choose how much a slug fest or a raze fest match lasts (original game strictly set these game types to 30 minutes).
IMO, the trunk size is disproportionate with the crown size.
Some characters are from it, but the story is ENTIRELY different.

There is actually a big risk of being overrun if you don't know what you're doing. See for yourself in chapter 3 (v0.8.1 - soon to come).
If you are referring to Perks, although some are set up based on your race, you still can change them when leveling up (with a high cost of Ability Points) as you please. It is not impossible to see knight heroes leading undead in skirmishes, it's just that most knights end up being good by nature, culture and education (i.e. how they are grown).
Rather easy if you have the proper tools and are accustomed to infinite interactive ways of programming - which I personally have been doing for 5 years now. The hardest part is to match your designs with the already existent gfx.
An adviser AND an excellent bodyguard (as the first chapter undoubtedly shown for everyone on certain occasions, I'm sure). Such companions will be available throughout The Protectors Campaign and sometimes within the Chapters section as well.
So I was having difficulty winning a scenario and clearly needed some help but my pockets were nearly empty (9 crowns) when a few woodsmen came to offer their services for free. -> Luckiest day in Etheria
Believe it or not, this is actually a vanilla spell. Nobody used it though, because it was considered useless (ninth nature spell). It's not an addition.
More people will play this AND comment as soon as it is out of beta and starts getting popularity. There are many folks who do not wish to play a game that is still in beta and for good reason.

There is actually a modding community, of which both ahatch and espee are part of. We sometimes help each other out, but things are quiet most of the time.
You can produce them in skirmishes like other units.
It's a suicider with 60 hit points and 12 speed with NO RANGE and combat. You guys must be confusing the Gazer with the Spore and vice-versa.
Plus, a dragon does 100 damage BUT has 40 combat and does not die on first blood. Not taking into consideration the psychological effects a dragon causes, the fact that it flies, armor, resistances and...; really, comparing a spore with a dragon is silly. Don't make me send you the 0.8.4 balance spreadsheet, zeto!

After every multiplayer connection/match (even a failed one) you need to restart the game. This is a vanilla bug :|
Normal. The campaign is mostly there for the item stash for now. The complete 1.0 version of TPC will have the campaign unlocked in it's entirety. Right now, your progress is limited, although there is a variety of ways of reaching that limit (both for mortal and immortal hero races).

Actually, it comes with vanilla. You can fix it by rightclicking the protectors.exe -> properties -> compatibility and check Run in compatibility mode for windows xp sp2

There is no level cap, although the game might crash at some point when doing too much damage or having too many hit points.
