TTT, Garry's Mod's most popular gamemode for multiplayer has been popular by many players for years of its existence.
Unfortunately, however, it has been for some time now destroying the Garry's Mod community. Call of Duty and Counter Strike, very easily obtained through either consoles or Steam are two different series of first person shooter games. Commonly when players aren't good at these games they look for alternatives. Alternatives such as TTT. This gamemode has been the #1 source for kiddos who are too lazy to learn how to go to the 'q' menu and/or learn to build with a physgun; so instead of being creative, they revert and convert Garry's Mod into an overpopulated clusterfuck of players that only wish to pirate Counter Strike: Source models and textures to play their beloved "Shooty shooty Cawdy Cawdy Gun gun" memoralia and sanctum.
Why do I care so much?>>
Garry's Mod, no bias here, was simpler with DarkRP and a few Jailbreak and TTT servers, not including the classic and creative sandbox modes for multiplayer servers. Ever since the generation of first person shooters has progressed into the obtained Garry's Mod that kiddos these days see that their friends are playing start off into the path of self destruction.
I was talking to some friends of mine and they had bought Garry's Mod years ago and played regularly.
I asked them if they'd like to mess around in sandbox and so they joined. They typed in with the original "//" for OOC typing in DarkRP or mostly TTT nowadays saying "how do we open the menu?"
This angered me so. I taught them how to spawn props, turn and place props to make a simple building with props and the physgun, but soonly after they promptly left and went to their sad little TTT servers where they will probably spend their duration on Earth on. These friends of mine have played Garry's Mod for 16000+ hours. Their Counter Strike hours...they don't even own it. Turns out they pirated the content from the GMod.org webby itself. How fucking sad, huh.
The peak or the straw that broke the camel's back was this:
I was looking at the master server's list and found to see that there were more than 10000 more TTT servers than there were sandbox and DarkRP combined! What the hell is Garry's Mod coming to? What?! DarkRP atleast was fun and awesome-fucking ENOUGH to include all of the sandbox functions and creativity at its full extent. The only relation with sandbox or props in TTT was moving a prop around after you died because your keyboard and mouse made it so these people took the barrel of loaded guns out of their mouths for an hour while they eagerly waited for their lives to restart in another round of Trouble in Terrorist Town..
