Is anyone here interested in doing some Haldir voice-acting? Just shoot me a message and comment below if you are interested, it'd be a huge help :)
Yeah, I figured as much. I wonder what he thinks about the C&D though?
Could this honestly change anything though?
Hopefully SOMETHING happens soon, I'm tired of the MERP team being forced to take action because of Warner Bros. childishness.
After seeing all these suggestions from MERP fans, I have a question for the MERP team a lot of people probably want to hear the answer to: have you ever SERIOUSLY considered any of the suggestions made by fans to release MERP? Just wondering.
I thought enpremi was a member since the summer of 2012?
Hey everyone, I have a little candy for MERP fans (not literal, of course). MERP members BGS and enpremi are creating two different armors that will be released on the Nexus. BGS is creating a Gondorian armor (easily professional quality) and enpremi is creating the Galadhrim Elven armor (ditto).
Some (of many) of BGS' screenshots:

Obviously they haven't continued development on MERP, they're just releasing their own armors. Nothing illegal about that :) I hope this brightens everyone's moods a little bit!
I hate to say it, but I think everyone's already forgot about it
It's sad, really, because I thought it was the best approach to raising awareness.
I'm not sure if it's counted as an RPG but Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is an oldie but goodie. Easily one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.
Hey guys, I just got done creating a short video raising awareness for the letter campaign. I used a few of the concept art pictures from Oblivion MERP and I used the music from Oblivion MERP. Everything seen in the video was created by the MERP team, too. Check it out.
Honestly, it doesn't matter to me who 'wins'. Obviously I'd much rather have Warner Bros. lift the C&D and let MERP continue, but obviously that outlook is a little shaky. So why not just brainstorm a little bit?
For example, I have been looking at the Oblivion MERP a lot lately. I saw some concept art of orcs and elves/elven armor. Since this is the MERP team's concept art, there's no copyright issues. It's their interpretation of the literature and Warner Bros. can't say that it's violating copyright. As another example, they could make their own type of orcs that are fairly similar to LOTR's orcs (not looking practically the same with minor changes, I just mean similar). And they can make their own types of armors that are similar to the LOTR armors, but again, just not the same. And I'm not taking the whole "just change the slightest thing about everything" approach. I mean SIMILAR. Hell, it doesn't even need to look similar. Just however they interpret it.
I know this was MERP's outlook at the beginning and look what happened. But just make their own storyline. I'm sure the MERP team could come up with something completely astounding and make the entire modding community clamoring for more.
After all, original mods aren't illegal. As long as it's ORIGINAL.
Lol yeah I know, 'twas only a joke :P But on a serious note, maybe the MERP team should just create their own sort of world? Just use the concept art and their original ideas, and just make up their own story. Sure it wouldn't be Middle Earth, but it'd be interesting seeing what the MERP team could create.
I'm not saying this is a serious idea they should do, but it's a nice little idea.
Why the hell didn't Warner Bros. just hire you guys to make a new game for them? I wonder how they'd react if you proposed this to them ;)
But being crude and malicious isn't the way to go either. Maybe WB doesn't deserve the respect the MERP team has given them, but it's better than saying, "WB, we will do whatever we want because we're right and you're wrong". It doesn't just work that way. All the MERP fans think they can just keep working on it even if they got the C&D because they believe they're right.
In my opinion, the MERP team is handling this the right way. Like MEB said in the new message, if you say mean things to WB then they just have another reason not to let MERP live.
Are both of your guys' avatars of Glorfindel? Lol
Alright MERP team, I just sent a letter (not an e-mail, an actual letter) to each of the listed addresses. I really hope this works...
My video series you mean? :P
No, I haven't been able to work on the first episode yet. I'm waiting for maty743 to release a High/Noldor Elf armor (the armor the elves wore in the prologue) to use. I've been talking with him about it for awhile so it's being made soon. So expect to see the first episode within the next few weeks (hopefully).
Could you please tell us what the backup plans would be in case you weren't able to continue the mod? I know EVERYBODY is wanting to know that much.
Well if the MERP team really thinks that they have the right to do what they're doing, who cares if they end up suing? If they REALLY believe (not saying they don't) that they are right and Warner Bros. are wrong, there's nothing to fear.
Hey MERP team, I was listening to some of your music for the Oblivion MERP and it sounded magnificent. I was wondering if you had any music you were going to be using for Skyrim MERP that hasn't been released? Or is that not allowed either?
Hmmm, maybe I'll have to get Oblivion then :P
I was looking for pictures of the Rohirrim armor when I decided to take a look at some of Oblivion MERP's screenshots. Originally I just wanted to look at the armors and get out. However, I found myself looking at nearly every picture in awe and found my longing for a good LOTR game at an all time high. Can't Warner Bros. just quit being a thorn in everyone's ***?
P.S. - Could I download MERP for Oblivion if I'd get the game for my PC? Just wondering.
Keep in mind this was 6 years ago.
Has anyone heard of Lord of the Rings: The White Council? It was a in development but was cancelled. Basically, it was supposed to be Skyrim only Lord of the Rings themed. Instantly made me think of MERP. Here's some more info:
Looking at the definition of purist, I just want to say for the record that I never said I wanted the movie(s) to be the exact same as the books. Don't grill me for this, but I've never read the books. Yep, there it is. I've seen all the movies and such, though, and that's why I'm so excited for this. But that's probably why I'm more of a 'purist' than anyone else, it's because since I haven't read the books than I don't really have anything to base the movies on. So for me, whatever is in the movie is what's supposed to be happening.
Regardless though, it does look awesome. I can't wait to see it!
Oh pish posh, their name is thrown in their somewhere so I'll give them a little credit for it lol
Oh. My. God. Warner Bros. really knows how to screw the pooch when it comes to video games, but they really can make some good movies.
Jesus Christ, why didn't anyone say anything about this? So if/when Christopher finds out, MERP is practically done? Sounds like I'd be more worried about them than WB. I don't know, this whole situation is a big mess >:(
What? Last time I checked, Christopher Tolkien was on the same side as MERP.
