You know what this looks like? A mix of a King Kriptor and a freaking Bolo.

I'm gonna have to go with some sort of sea based unit, because you have weapons on the top side. If it was a soul ripper or aerial fortress, the weapons would be on the bottom. maybe you took the idea from the subships from the battleship movie and made a very quick battleship design that has a flying leap ability. Maybe you are using the game's fuel system to make a temporary flying battleship?
Honestly, I think it looks a lot like a soul ripper. Then, I read the comment about a possible "bombardment ship", and now I can't get rid of the idea of making a combination Gunship/submarine, like the unit in Red Alert 3. Maybe give it a surface/submerge toggle that only citrates above/under water?
And now I have the mental image of a soul ripper coming out of the water and base raping someone, and kinda looks like that alien ship in the Battleship movie.
Crap, what is this, an anti-orbital walker? Plug it into a generator, and you could probably **** off some Capitals.
Maybe it has SAMs and launches tactical missiles? Could be fun, especially if it ripple fires it's initial salvo, and then slows down its firing rate to signify that it has to reload.
And now I had the disturbing image of packs of these things ganging up on enemy experimental. Awesome imagery, bad implications. for example, will all the missiles slow down my computer? Missile swarms are epic only when they don't travel at the speed of molasses.
I think that the barrels would look awesome on a battleship. Not the same size ones as on a mavor, but still, it would be impressive detail work.
So, are the SDs flagged as garrison units, or are they actual units? Because if they aren't garrison units, that means they might carry over to the Galactic Conquest map. And that would mean that you have another significant reason to not hit the auto-resolve button.
It looks more like a keeper to be honest. It has that red stripe. As far as I know, bentusi are pretty much tannish gold.
I personally think that if this thing is going to be long, it needs to have many small-ish weapons (possibly t2 weapons?). Maybe enough of them that they match up to other t3 units in DPS? and make the unit different by allowing it to fire at multiple targets, if you can code such a thing. I'm not a mod developer, I have no clue.
I think that this things needs more height, especially if it fires in a straight line. Otherwise, I think you could probably hit your own base. It would be cool to see the round bounce off someone else's base shields, like it does with tactical missiles.
In addition, the dome also gives the impression of a dual anti-air and anti-ground weapon. Which would be fun to see, but probably hard to code and execute
Shoot, fire this baby off, and you have both instant death for everything on the ground, and an area denial weapon for however long the storms last. plus, if the storms are the same as normal ion storms, the scrin could send in an air fleet. Damn, hit the edge of a base with this, then send in the armada into the storm. Sounds like a game over one-two combo.
I'm curious though. Could this same effect happen with 50 scrin carriers? Be insanely expensive and time consuming, and vulnerable to anti-air.
I humbly request images of Manaan ships with Somtaaw energy cannons, since Somtaaw doesn't give Soban energy cannons. Can we get a lore reason for why that is?
So, the combat kiiths determine your big ships, and Somtaaw gives you access to yet more craft? Are they added onto the build list, or do they replace existing ships?
It's says something were I have to think "photoshop? who the hell needs that?!"
God, I love this game. It's at least 5 years old, and it still looks gorgeous. *sigh*
Yeah, it's a good thing the Kiith system is limited (as I understand it). There's only so much awesome a match can contain.
It's so awesome, it doesn't have to fear for it's masculinity/seriousness. It's power speaks for itself.
Now, if we were talking about pink armor plating, then that would have to be automatically a OMG badass technology. Wouldn't the keepers be so much more scary if they were bright pink? :D
Holy crap, I am so looking forward to this mod's next release. A nicely modeled dreadnaught is just gonna be cherry on this awesome sundae.
Oh, you mean from back in the day where the manuals were awesome and sometimes in color? Damn, I miss those days, instead of this stupid 3 page max manuals.
Damn, this is awesome. It's the equivalent of a nuclear sub in space.
Are the individual missiles stronger than the individual missiles of a torpedo frigate? And are the pulsar turrets for anti-fighter work, or for whatever gets close enough?
This had better be a strategic weapon. Still, my first thought was "Mavor" which is a giant artillery structure in Supreme Commander that is horribly expensive, but it's a game ender because of range, accuracy, and large shells.
Very nice usage of Juno Reactor work. Is it War Dogs?
My first thought was, "oh, it'll be a dinky little laser like in Generals". then it was "that's a superweapon? looks more tactical..." and then I was 0_0
we have any weapons? or is there an ability involving the aerial refueling boom?
please PM me the download link. I'd love to try the changes, and the mod so far.
WTF?!?! Did you just oneshot a mothership??? will that be the balanced version? and yeah, you need some sort of blast radius.
cool. I like the shot, but I was kinda hoping for more ship detail. Ah well.
PS. Nice planetary eclipse you have going on.
PPS. What the heck is with the engines? In game they are green (and need a little more detail), while these are orange. Intentional?
how does it stack to battlecruisers? a light cruiser would possibly have more weapons/armor, while BCs have the ability to repair fighters/corvettes.
So , this makes sniper lethal to most/all infantry, while the grenade squad/disk throwers are both anti-infantry and anti-structure?
This would fit, if you aren't going to get rid of Grenades.
do they take out air? If you replace TW3 GDI with TW2 GDI, you lack a good basic AA unit. and according to TW3, vehicle mounted machine guns are AA.
Where's the forums?
Anyway, I have a request. Can you PLEASE tone down the replicators? a couple (2 or more) starbases with the hord production ability can easily create an overwhelming armada. Overwhelming to the point that it froze my game. I got around 600 frigates at that point. Maybe you could add a population cap. Maybe make them worth 1 point each, or make 2 appear (at the same time) for 1 point?
And can you somehow weaken the individual frigate/cruiser replicate ability? An Easy Random AI will mass the carrier cruisers, launch them at a (in this case, my) planet, and the replicate ability will spawn reinforcements in my gravity well, from impossible angles (as in, if I have one route out, they can, and will, spawn in the completely opposite direction)!
The execution is beautiful, my problem is with balance.
Oh, BTW, attentive Alliance players will notice that your poor, wimpy, scout frigate? It's actually only marginally weaker than the basic frigate (Mostly in hull and shield, but NOT weapons), and much cheaper (same credit cost, no metal cost, less cosntruction time, and less population). Thankfully, the AI doesn't notice this. It's like having zerglings be the same cost (as normal), but be slightly combat worse than hydralisks.
I don't mind the Sayvor at this point. Maybe up the standard frigates stats/usefulness?
