Designer extraordinaire, I suppose.
If there are any ladies out there who want to help us out, please stop by this page and see if there are any voice acting roles that tickle your fancy. Help us get Apocalypse done!
There is a DJ Pon3 toy. I believe we have won.
A lot much.
If you can make this happen, you have my vote for MotY forever.
Yeah, we'll be removing the range boost from MASSing to be sure.
They have a sort of DOTA thing going now.
That's actually exactly the idea. It's high-tech in the classic rocket-ship way, not the bleeding-edge angles, cutaways and needless glows of todays sci-fi.
We might be able to do such a thing.
Also Gregster, send us those maps before you scuttle off to the game!
Hey guys, how many of you are actually going to be around tonight for podcast? I know you yanks have some kind of sporting event today, so let me know if you are still game...
Man, like, those new factions would be, like, cool and stuff, but we're soooooooo laaaaaaaazy.
Casting continues with me, however, doing the Grand Collider remake.
It actually just restores the original weapon.
Mad props to you crazy folks!
"Man, I've never seen a pony eat so many apples!"
Said podcast begins in 37 minutes (3pm)
Tommorow is Allied Navy Revision Day on the podcast. I've got some fresh inspiration from Syd Mead so I'll be revising the Assault Lander and the Subhunter Frigate to be more in line with the Allied style.
First off, that's a lot like telling a Russian how much it sucks the Nazis didn't finish them off, so kindly die in a fire you stupid, bigoted ****.
Second off, while the content of this mod is nonsensical, it is still content. He is a content provider, which is admirable considering most people don't even get that far.
So basically, shut the **** up.
In the real-life Vietnam War, North Vietnam fielded MiG-21s supplied by the USSR. These are similar, but in the Red Alert universe you can also ship jigs for automated factories.
That's actually kind of clever :P
Sure thing. Get on MSN.
I disagree; the two have very different styles. RA3 is a sort of larger-than-life, highly dynamic world, while Valkyria Chronocles is a sort of subdued, storybook world of soft pastels.
Check the Armament section, biatch. One hundred and sixty two 25mm anti-air guns.
Do some research before you type. It's a quarter of a kilometer long. It can carry those guns and ammo, along with the 7 planes, 2,700 crew, and 12 boilers.
It's not really a uniform; she's a Moe anthropomorphism.
Tanks are a lot smaller than most people think; they look big in photographs and even in person, but when you actually go and measure them you find out they are actually not nearly as large as you thought. Which makes a lot of sense considering they don't exactly want to be large targets. As RA3 infantry have exaggerated proportions, the tanks don't seem so big by comparison, but trust me, the measurements all add up.
Podcast in one hour!
Nope. There are female PKs and Jungle Rangers also. The Vietcong are the only ones to have their random infantry look substantially different, however, because they are a resistance group.
Yes. We can have up to five variants of a unit, so I made five Auxiliary concepts.
I meant texture on the gun (skin is another word for texture in 3d modelling)
It's hard to do anything with the skin due to the way it's unwrapped; I basically just ran a sharpen over it, put an aperture in the barrel, and called it a day.
He actually is "thicker", as the armour and the way the pants are is bulkier than before. The Tankbuster has always had a stocky profile, and I pushed it a little to heighten the contrast between him and the new, much more slight and noodle-y Imperial Warrior.
We will shortly! (this game is primarily a netcode test, as well as a trial for all the crowdsourcing/marketing/distribution stuff we need to learn.)
Gibs are coming, but are not a priority; they aren't part of the core gameplay and they involve a lot of complicated and enemy-specific work, so we're trying to focus more on getting the gameplay itself down pat first. But rest assured, you'll be removing heads and limbs like a pro come release.
For now, once they are dead, they're dead. Later we'll make it so that explosives going off nearby will gib whats left of them.
When it's ready.
He's actually standing fairly straight, but he's giant goddamn thighs distort everything. :P
It's a vacuum tube. :P
You'll have to do it quite a bit, because that got a lot of health...
We could probably make the text portions selectable, yeah. We've used Unity to make generators for RPGs before.
Good eye on the trail. We're still working on that.
As for the ammo, this is just a testing build we have infinite ammo in, that's all.
Yes. Yes it is.
Yeah, as well as like, automatic rocket launchers, or ones which are basically just you carrying an entire Katyusha rack.
Also, I can confirm chainsaw rockets.
That's the plan! I'm working on those right now, in fact.
Learning how to make GIFs was the best and worst thing ever to happen to me.
We're still calibrating exactly how much we want from that.
Besides, he totally looks asian.
I really dig the style of these, especially those gravestones.
But, yeah, I kept Sirens because there are still two of them out there, the "only six" thing could possibly be hearsay or legend, they are intractably linked to the Vaults so its plausible they have been drawn to Pandora, and Vault Hunters are already exceptional people anyway.
/tg/ can work on whatever they want. Hardboiled's gunfight rules are so much fun I wrote a Borderlands RPG to match, because Hardboiled is too consequence-tastic for the party to always get in fights, and r3ven has put together an automated gun generator which stats out loot with the press of a button. I'd like to see them beat that.
Each grenade. The blue parts make up the grenades.
Thats coming soon. Elemental explosives and a cigar!
Sure, but Classic Doom was, overall, fairly bright and focused on circle-strafing as many rockets as possible into your enemies. Doom 3 was primarily about wandering around in the dark and being jumped by monsters. Both had exceptions, but that was the formula.
No, as you wouldn't be able to see it unfortunately.
It's been shattered, presumably by whatever scratched up the helmet and her face like that.
I promise it will come out no later than summer 1997.
Await no more.
Generals is a game about 2020s sci-fi USA verus 2000s republican nightmare terrorists verus 1970s China as seen by Richard Nixon in a fever dream. Anything else would break the tone!
Correct. Rockets and explosives will jump you, as will a few melee weapons in certain context.
Yep. For example, if you try to do a dynamite jump in midair, the dynamite will just fall below you (which you COULD use to bomb people as you pass over them...) However, you could use rapidly detonated C4 to grenade-jump in midair as a form of double jump, or lob a stick grenade ahead of you for a multi-jump or something crazy like that.
Any explosive weapon is a potential rocket jump.
Inspired more by the covers of the Quake games.
Our goal exactly.
Exactly. Just, without wussy little half-percent stat differences that have you hunting through piles of guns looking for a little green arrow. Just grab the one you think looks scariest and have at it; your skill matters far more than your weapon.
People are always talking about how graphics don't matter in the face of gameplay, and anyone who would be put off by a lack of photorealistic graphics probably doesn't want to play a first person retro rogue-like shooter in the first place.
Seriously though, armour may or may not happen. It is extra complexity without a lot of payoff, but it is an integral part of old-school shooters, so we are on the fence about it.
What was in 2006?
Yep. Hence why it can go so fast carrying all those rockets.
If infiltrated it'll lock out your high tech stuff, as per all tech buildings. If captured, I guess the other player will have a really tall tower? Oh, and you'll lose your tech.
Warning, keep away from children :P
If you set up a good run, it drops considerably more bombs before and after the target. It's more in line with a powerful protocol or small superweapon now!
I hope so!
They are just yellow painted tips on the ends of the rotors.
I actually really dig that idea.
That's because this is a composite concept art.
Bigger. +50% on the Assault Destroyer bigger.
Nah I just needed to use that gif on something.
Seriously though we've been over the idea of the unknowable and the false divide of personal and scientific knowledge.
That's kind of the idea, what with him sitting behind the lines. I imagine he's somewhere between the Imperial Warrior and the Engineer in terms of status.
Yes to the fans, no to the target finder.
Listen, you need a very specific angle for face textures. I'll take em where I can get em...
A detail I really like is Applejack attacking with her tail; Applejack has shown before to be particularly deft with it, unlike most.
Also, Pinkie inflating is win.
I need to talk to r3ven about what that would look like from a code point of view, seeing as it'd be attached to a part that gets hidden.
Clearly, all evidence that Rarity is best pony.
We didn't change the size of the shotgun.
Nope. It's a crossover between Ponies and Commissar Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM.
Very 40k. I like it.
See, even Braeburn knows Rarity is the best pony.
I ******* hate drama. I would have shut this crap down immediately had I known, but I was at work.
Your call, man. Thanks for the work you've put in, and I wish you luck wherever you go next.
Plasma Conduit. Ups the range of your turrets.
I liked London when I was there...
Oh man, this would make one hell of an M-100 design.
Is it just me, or are the Soviets especially green in this shot?
Yo, you should have kept playing. The Enclave isn't supposed to look overly evil at first, then you find out they plan on killing everyone who is "impure" (aka, not currently sealed in a vault) because not only are they fascists run by an insane AI but they are obsessed with purity and their own little perfect American Dream, with all discrimination, elitism and repression it implies.
What a fun guy.
Step back the from the mic a bit to improve the quality.
An interesting definition, but one that doesn't actually mean anything. Using the word God where Humanity will do just leads to confusion, misinterpretation, and mystical thinking. After all, most people still use the word God as definition a) the invisible sky daddy.
This is better by far.
Strong, sure. Unopposed? Not so much.
The last panel is amazing win.
Actually, seriously, the Barkhausen was originally designed as it was primarily to swat at teams of vindicators to prevent them from locking down TX during mirrors.
That looks fantastic!
I think it might have been considered too high res for 2007 though.
Actually, the only difference is that a railgun fires electromagnetically and a cannon uses expanding gasses from a chemical reaction (explosion) You can have low-power railguns that arc and high powered cannons that shoot close to straight.
Fire... IS... PLASMA. THEY ARE THE SAME THING.
This would make a sweet alternate Icarus model :D
You might have the wrong build, redownload. We changed the reduct in our emergency update.
That's easy. They're testing within national waters. Testing ballistic weapons in international waters is prohibited by several treaties.
This is actually a common pattern. As earthquakes are caused by the hard interaction of two or more tectonic plates, you almost never get a single earthquake from their interaction. Instead, you get dozens or hundreds over a short period of time as something snaps or grinds, with particularly large events spiking off. Events like this are actually more common than the sort of large, city-wrecking earthquakes.
All this means is a fault at 10km deep is getting a workout.
The most important part of a secret is not letting people know there is a secret. Somebody asks you about some **** you don't want them to know about, you don't say "That's a secret" you say "What secret?"
Alternately, it's simply a result of "Information Imprint Reduction" which is what anyone working in classified projects does. If you want to keep a secret, you tell as few people as possible and you don't make it clear who you are. Thus, when this sort of stuff happens, they ask the wrong people, who truthfully answer they have no idea.
If this isn't a plane, which is what is being reported, than I'd put money down on it being a Navy anti-ship ballistic missile test or a counter to the above. The Navy has been losing face over a high-arc Chinese missile that was purpose built to kill carriers, so if the US were testing their own version or a counter to it I'd certainly keep it secret.
However, I would note the double contrail, which is inconsistant with any kind of missile I know of but would match, say, a plane banking.
If it's anything, it's probably just a missile test. Considering it hasn't landed on anyone, it's probably not sinister.
If they were putting up, say, a space laser, or talking with aliens, they'd just tell everyone they were putting up a comm sat and launch from a regular NASA base. So if it is a rocket, it's probably a classified ballisitics project.
So America is a Twilight vampire?
I kid, I kid :P
I'll try to address something like that in a post soon.
Then you have failed to grasp the nature of rational thinking. Rationality does not aim to present any facts as truth to the user beyond those that better allow them to determine for themselves the truth. Rationality is not a political alignment, a religion or a doctrine, it merely aims to help you to overcome your biases when processing information.
It doesn't give you a thread of thinking. It gives you ways to better sort truth from lies.
No. Technologies happen regardless. It is better said that war is the mother of engineering.
That is the coolest thing.
Hilariously, we could easily do this unit as a reskin of the C&C3 saboteur, complete with the claw.
Why just give hints? Why preserve their secret? Publish it all, in a book if you want (there have been many books published supposedly containing the full history of a great many secret societies) so that everyone will know! If these people are such a threat, you have a moral obligation to inform as many people as you can as fast as you can. It's not like they are going to kill you; the loose change people are still alive, for example. To kill somebody trying to give away the conspiricy would probably give away the conspiricy, after all.
Cost is more than a function of currency! In fact, currency is a representation, fundamentally, of labour and material wealth, barter tokens that can be redeemed for a certain amount of either of these two things. It is impossible to argue that a working person in a functioning society does not produce more worth if he is working than if he is dead. A dead man cannot collect, refine, produce or use anything. A living man can produce things that the elite can use to enforce their grip on power or to pass the time.
Please, if we are going to talk conspiricies, at least give our villains credible motivation!
I never understood this. If a shadowy organization, hundreds or thousands of years old, managed to hide itself from everyone, worm its way into power everywhere, have bottomless funds to manipulate the entire world and does so so flawlessly that there is no conclusive proof of their existance anywhere, while also constantly dropping unnessesary and dangerous hints in political speeches, religious text and currancy designs, not to mention potentially dealing with one or more alien races and/or deities without anyone noticing... they sound much better organized, smarter, more driven and more effient than the current government, and best of all they'll rule the entire world at once and put an end to the primative tribalism of national boundaries and exclusive culture!
Why don't we want them in charge?
You'd be surprised how expensive it is to kill people. When you keep them alive, you can make them work for you. A day of labour is worth more than a bullet by several orders of magnitude, and there is a lot of work in wiping out large amounts of people. You have to round them up, transport them, kill them, dispose of their bodies, pay the guards and the factories and so forth, and of course cover it up, which means bribes and such.
I can do the math to see which is more efficient in the long run, if you'd like.
Hate to say it... if the bottom 80% of society dies... how does the top 20% feed itself? Who will they sell the things they manufacture to? How will they manage to wipe out all those people? How will they transport them to the death camps? How will they dispose of the bodies? Where will they get the fuel and systems to do this? How do they get everyone (The Elite is a pretty broad category) to agree to such a morally terrifying plan without any of these people defecting? How will they prevent the targeted segments of the population from revolting? How will they ensure global cooperation with small rogue states? How will they deal with the guilt afterwards (is everyone above a certain earning bracket a sociopath?) Wouldn't the countinued labour of these 80% of the population be worth more in the long run (by every system we have to count economic worth, the answer is yes) If they have answers to all these questions, why haven't they done it yet?
I think that it could be bigger.
Great stuff! The bomber in particular looks fantastic!
My god, two things have visual similarity! Clearly this was plotted from the start by an ancient organization in power as a symbolic representation of their gradual conquest of the earth through the New World Order! Good thing you spotted it!
So, a teleporter bullfrog? Awesome.
I will just say this. 5v5 is fun on a bun. The rest of it is, indeed, a little ho-hum, but the multiplayer/skirmish is about as much fun as you can have.
They are stealthed until about the last second before impact, and are capable of (extremely slow) independant movement, so best watch out.
The end looks great, that's how gas fire acts in real life.
Definite proportion and detail problems. You should definately model this over a blueprint layout, and take advantage of the extensive photo reference available for the class.
Hell yes, this model is amazing.
I suggest you tone down the name a bit, for starters.
Actually, boltguns have adjustable ejects for righties and lefties.
So? Renegade was an FPS, that was even FARTHER removed. And don't talk to me about Sole Survivor.
Just watch. After C&C4 they'll do another RA game or Generals, and I bet it'll resemble the old games. What do you people have against experimenting?
Gorram it, that's awesome. Excellent job!
I'm the leader of Paradox, silly :P
I can tell by the pixels.
They can't even SEE 'em. Hence why the passed right over them.
Ok, that's just way too cool.
Yes, it does.
Not terribly so. Lots of smoke and bits though.
Nope, it was a complete accident :P
The Confederates have hijacked and use all the old RA1 technology. The Beagle is the light tank, the Mastiff the medium tank. Though they have their own unit tech as well, the core of their army is salvaged World War 2 vehicles.
Hmm, stolen content, ALLCAPS self-commenting, no description... Yes, this will go over well.
Beta and public release are very different things. While I expect to be testing a more or less completed Allies and well-progressed Confederates by August, there won't be a public release by then.
On top of that it does made damage from outside retaliatory range. It's a lot like real attack helicopters in that regard.
Just one is, indeed, the case.
We're working on it.
Not better so much as complimentary. The Assault Destroyer is high-armour, low damage, the Subhunter is high-damage, low armour. Between the two they can do a lot of damage.
Actually it's the Radar Jammer from Red Alert 1.
No, this copter doesn't have any weapons so it cannot run out of ammunition :P
It's the new name and slightly changed Gunboat concept.
MISTAKE!!!!! Fixing now.
So is, for the most part, the Multicopter. I meant match in abilities, not "capable of shooting it down" though if you put certain units into the Multicopter it can do that, too.
It's an extremely light combat helicopter, very cheap too (as it's unarmed when you build it) that works best in numbers. In a group with several different weapon loadouts that are easily a match for the twinblade.
They're there. Check the area Israel/Palestine is in modern maps...
Alas, the Jackson is unarmed; the .50 cals that once graced the hatches were recycled into the first generation Riptide transports.
We're trying but exams locked most of the team down for a little while. We're aiming to have the microwave tank ingame very shortly. As for textures, several of those buildings are textured but we wanted to show them all off as just their models for now.
Please say this is a buildable. PLEASE.
I don't really see this fitting into the Soviet art style quite as it is...
What exactly is wrong with the teture, specifically?
We're removing those skins; the Confederates are getting a little more gritty!
But it's a common military phrase. Hunter-killer units are units that seek out enemy units and destroy them. That's basically what this thing does.
In the case of the image of ours you commented on earlier, it actually was WIP. We decided to post it as it was, just wanting to get it out there with the other EP image before going back to working on the Confederates and Allies. Eventually it'll look more finished, like the hunter-killer we posted alongside it, but we decided it was better to show off the WIP rather than wait. We weren't trying to dodge criticism; we actually weren't done yet!
The texture, from what I understand, is WIP.
The Electrical Protectorate units are slightly on the lower poly side, considering you'll be using 4-5 times as many units as the other factions...
No, it'd work, and it's part of what makes the Mastiff so useful.
That's pretty much the idea. With a few exceptions, we decided to just make them a combination of every robot cliche we could think of, hence the dome heads, the sprawling bases, and the endless swarm gameplay.
Nope, you get 1 core. Better guard it!
So? RA3 supports normal maps, and it's not like using them is cheating or something.
It's also not ingame music, just menu music.
Well then you're buggered. You'll likely be able to use this ability on your own barracks, but we're going to make sure there is SOMETHING garrisonable on all maps.
Come out of it. This is to prevent glitches, if you drop more men than can be garrisoned in a building.
Not exactly sure. Might give it the ability to disguise as a vehicle like the Sudden, or it might bribe enemies. I didn't put anything down because I didn't know yet.
I'm still experimenting with smoothing groups, so it might be a while before I get em right. Smoothing isn't gamebreaking though, it can be adjusted without messing with the texture.
What to do you mean by topology? If you mean the positions of faces for animation purposes, I made sure the parts could bend correctly before I messed with em.
Also, heating an aircraft to several times the melting point of lead isn't terribly good for, say, fuel tanks.
The name is a combination of the meaning of "Yamato" (as in Space Battleship Yamato) and the American name for the series, Starblazer. Considering that the name "Wave-Force" comes pretty much directly from SBY's Wave Motion weapons, I figured a more direct tribute in the form of a flying battleship was in order.
Of course, we have a similar senario going for Paradox's take on China. It just seemed, what with the red and the brick look, that it was still Communist China.
Wow. You've improved a lot since last time.
(But, Royalist? The Communists and the Royalists fought a bitter, crappy war, they wouldn't name a vessel after the losing side.)
Yes, but as I noted on the Medium tank entry, we decided that pursuing our own designs would be a better choice.
1700 triangles. Behold the magic of normal mapping!
Good luck texturing it; unwrapping something with that many extra faces will be misery.
That's because it is, of course. The Confederates use a mismash of out-of-date equipment from the Second World War, ie Red Alert 1.
What sort of detail do you have in mind? It's a 1950s military vehicle, not a hyperadvanced torpedo boat. It's only going to have so much detail space before it looks plain strange.
Of course it'll change, as it was coloured just for this image. When used with other colours in skirmish, it'll change to whatever colour you picked, including green, if you wish.
Yellow is the Confederate faction colour, like red for the Soviets. This is Red Alert, what is this camouflage you speak of?
Player models are not easy to make, and neither I nor the modeller are skilled enough to do it. We need help!
