It does look awesome. But will anyone play in these cockpits? If I recall correctly, in vanilla Freelancer you couldn't turn your ship as fast when in the cockpit compared to the third view cam.

It's a shame Good Old Games doesn't have Freelancer, really. I think a pirated version will do as I don't remember having to install the game with a cd-key but if you want to buy it go here:

Yeah it definately has some RPG elements. In the end it's a mix I think. On one side you have your hero with spells like healing, fireball, meteorites etc. and on the other side all the units you create and command. It has all those things you would expect from a RTS like grouping units (CTRL+#), formations and all that.
Sorry, can't help you with Messiah. Never played it :-(. I'd ask google :-P Or maybe you can find the solution here: Gog.com
