Thomas Was Alone

Game review

Remember how we all laughed at the silly joke in Portal, where GLaDOS tried to make us care about a cube?

This game succeeds in that. These simple squares and rectangles, which, technically, are no more than puzzle pieces in a platformer game, quickly get a place in your heart, and very soon you'll be calling them all by name.

The insight given into the characters by the beautifully calm narration, from Thomas' boundless wonder to Chris and Laura's hesitant romance, elevated this from 'just' a nice puzzle game to an immersive experience, and the tantalizing post-Event comments thrown in between make you keep wondering what the big Event will actually be, and how it will play out.

It's not a long game, but, just like Portal, it doesn't have to be. It tells its story, and I was immensely satisfied when it all played out and I finally saw the result of everything these little lonely rectangles had strived for.

C&C Gold Crazy Mod

I'd really like it if you wouldn't rip off my patch and pretend you added all my changes to the game, thank you very much.

On that note, this is based on a vastly outdated version of my patch anyway. For anyone reading this, you can get the real latest version on Moddb.com
