While we appreciate the sentiment, please don't push this. We don't want our project to overshadow other ambitious and extremely high quality projects being developed now that MERP is canceled. Enderal, Ethas, and many other projects for Skyrim and other games deserve it more. They are in fast development and making good progress. Give them some love. At the very least, don't try to push MERP past the Top 100.
Got my vote. Easily. Good luck :)
Of course not! That would spoil all the fun :P
We will have one out as soon as it is ready. There may be other items being released soon as well ;)
Unfortunately, that concept and armor were done by Lessontwo and Justb, respectively. Those two have been very off the radar; haven't been able to make contact go get permission :( .
I would disagree. While LOTR characters are pretty standard, Silmarilion characters see a lot more depth and complexity despite the broadness of scope.
I will say this: he is incorrect to say that the world is purely black and white. Look at the Silmarillion. Look at the Children of Hurin. Was Faenor fighting Morgoth evil or good? Was Turin a hero or a vilain? To assert black and white was the constant standard is to ignore the source material as much as those who assert that it is all grey.
As for the wraith bit, they lost me there. I would think wraiths lack the majority of free will honestly; they may be able to think freely and regret and so on, but I highly doubt that they can choose to do things contrary to the will and nature that controls them.
I don't pass judgment before release easily, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Been ages since we had a LOTR game I would even consider decent, much less good. So I am anticipating a pure cash-in mediocre action game. I hope I am wrong of course, but I doubt it.
I'm not usually one for mods that diverge so drastically from the main setting...but I might have to play this one anyway just because of how well done it is. Most impressive.
Looking at this...it makes me want to play Fallout! And makes me long to see Fallout 4...
Serch "MERP" on Skyrim Nexus (skyrim.nexusmods.com). BGS has uploaded his Gondor Armor sets there.
Yeah really couldn't help myself xD . This game sounds like it could be something interesting, given what little info we have. But also sounds like it might be a bit trippy o_O
Ps: It's actually two references for the price of one :P
"Patching every week indefinitely"
What the crap? If you have to do that the game is just not finished. Even BGS doesn't have to do that!
YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! DARN YOU! DARN YOU ALL TO HECK!
We plan for it to be switchable between first and third person, but first person will be the focus.
Yes Vrossothos, the forest in the western Feralands, will be very large. About the size Mirkwood was going to be in MERP. So yeah, insanely massive.
Another use for fire arrows could be intimidation. Seeing your buddy take a fireball to the face is pretty terrifying
Yeah Skyrim's stealth is fairly basic. And skillfulness results in stupidly stealth characters :P . We want to better than that.
We haven't thought much about that particular mechanic yet as we are still building ideas for the central combat and features. However, we do want it to be a useful skill your character can build up.
Variety is certainly possible in the area of color. Recoloring is fairly simple and I would expect at least some measure of variety in these guys ;)
Yeah the tunic color can change especially for the first two. He probably chose this in order to make the distinction between parts clear. For battle though, red has been favored by many groups in history because it does make you more intimidating psychologically. However, that is open battle If you are shooting for stealth, duller colors are obviously better.

Actually, for the middle ages this is about right xD
But another thing to keep in mind is that this individual might be of a heavy/stocky build. Which would create an illusion of shortness. But of course, it's not lije everyone who is wearing this in game will look exactly the same in terms of height and build anyway :P
Haha. Well look on tye bright side: rather than having to wait days or weeks to have questions raused by the previous week's post answered, you get to have the questions and answers all at once. Well...except for the ones raised this week. :P
Thanks. Hopefully, this also cleared up some facts about the War of Calamities that we had been referencing for some time. As we go, more info on some of these things will be given. Some will be left for you to learn in game.
So this is the conclusion of the mini series on magic. A bit of an info dump, but I tried to streamline it as much as possible. And we got it out a day ahead of time. There will probably be another post later this week. Stay tuned ;)
Well the last post will clear soms things up on that specific scenario. However, I will say that there will be various reactions to the use of magic in various regions. Some may welcome it but others decidedly won't.
You will have to wait and see. And I apologize for all the terms. I have been trying to keep it limited but a lot of these were kinda necessary.
So here we are, part two of the series. Now there are a lot of facts in this one, so let me know what you think and what questions you may have. the final part, which will cover the second part of Magic in History as well as Magic's relevance in the upcoming War, will come out Monday.
Thanks. Glad to see these lore posts aren't boring you all to tears xD
There will be in engine and asset images and demonstrations as soon as they're ready, we promise ;)
