Well...actually..there are definitely new videos and they are being released very often! All the Unity tutorials are new as is the Left 4 Dead mapping tutorial. The older Noesis content will continue to be released on design3 but we are also creating new content for different engines and software tools as well. Expect more and more to come!

* Press F to lock onto any enemy or objective location

* Shooting accurately is pretty easy if you aim at the target icons (usually leading the targeted enemy ship)

* 3rd person flying perspective is already in the game

Try to actually be informed before you start making comments.

Great idea and work on the package art guys! It's very cool that you are taking the extra steps to present your project in a way that most mods don't and are striving to be more like a "real" game. It's definitely not pointless and it would be nice to see more mods make this extra effort.

Broadsword: You're right we probably should have shown it applied to an in-game model at the end of the tutorial. If you go to the Noesis Interactive ModDB group page and watch the "Noesis Interactive Promotional Trailer" you can see the facemap on a Deathmatch character at the very beginning of the video.

Thanks again everybody and keep an eye out for new tutorials and DVDs !!

Noesis_Interactive Apr 30 2009, 3:56pm says:

Yep, I agree. This game is awesome.

Very unique and interesting art style. The melee combat system worked well and you could really feel the impact when you punched somebody in the grill. It was very satisfying to stun an enemy and then knee him in the face before tossing him aside. One of the only problems I had was trying to run away when I was locked onto one of the enemies since I would end up circling that enemy instead of getting away from them. There were definitely both panicky moments and "YES, that was 'effin sweet" moments as well. You really had to realize when it was time to break out and run away from the action and approach the enemies from a different angle. I actually ended up using the run function more than the blocking function. I also thought it was interesting how useless the range weapons became in the close combat situations since the enemies would hide from you when you were trying to shoot them and were smart enough to know when you were reloading. Reloading the weapons was a constant struggle, and rightfully so. Good times.

Overall, great job ACE Team!! We're really looking forward to your next game!!

Nice interview guys!

It's true that writing and coming up with good ideas is one of the most challenging aspects of game design and it's sad that there are a great many game studios out there that don't put enough time into them.

I hope you get that job at Valve Ben!

Good work, looking forward to the next interview!

Yeah, that sucks, sorry to hear that. We've actually heard this kind of thing before and it really is a bummer that people either don't know about, or are scared of the Source engine (and other moddable engines as well). It does seem like many schools focus only on Torque or Ogre and this is why we are trying to expand the engine knowledge and skills that are taught in those schools.

Noesis is here for you man! ha ha.

Noesis_Interactive May 23 2008, 1:21pm says:

We think this contest is a good idea (despite some of the doubts that have been posted already). Concept art really is an important part of the process and it would be pretty stupid to start modelling characters or props or start mapping out levels without first drawing some sketches and pictures of what you have in mind. I've heard countless industry professionals say that the most important work is done before you even sit down at the computer, (namely concept art, model sheets, design documents, scripts, etc.) Some people have stated that they don't think that their drawing skills are good enough but, really, you could express raw power through a simple line drawing pose (although I'm sure the winner will be way more detailed than that, ha ha). Also, I didn't see anything that said it had to be a "drawing" so what's to stop anybody from using 3D models and game maps to create their piece of art? This fact totally negates the argument that this competition doesn't apply to "modders". Also, ModDB would be stupid to turn down any kind of sponsorship from anyone, especially a huge and respected company like Dell, no matter what prizes they're offering. I do kind of respect the fear that Dell will take all the entries and exploit them to the max but you have to think about the positives. You are given a chance to win 500$ and would anybody be paying you for that entry anyway? (Professional concept artists shouldn't answer that question, ha ha) Most likely not. The worst that could happen is that you wouldn't win and would then see your piece of art in advertisements which you could then list on your resume and brag to your friends about. Overall, we think it's a good idea and like Scott said, there will be more contests to come for everyone else who's not down with the drawing. Looking forward to seeing the raw art that comes out of this raw power contest! Good luck everyone!
