I'm curious which free University you are talking about? Do they teach the Unity engine?
Well...actually..there are definitely new videos and they are being released very often! All the Unity tutorials are new as is the Left 4 Dead mapping tutorial. The older Noesis content will continue to be released on design3 but we are also creating new content for different engines and software tools as well. Expect more and more to come!
Hey guys, thanks for the comments and support! (and thanks to ModDB/IndieDB for the news post)!
We had a lot of discussion regarding the pricing and we feel that the relatively low price of 20 bucks a month is a great deal for our customers, while still letting us cover all of our production costs. Most people don't realize that we have a team of 7 people working full time (or even overtime) and that these people don't have other jobs to support themselves with. Also, the original monthly price we were considering was over twice what it is now, so yeah, it's cheaper now than ever before!
We went with the subscription method because it made the most sense for both us and the customers. It's completely possible for somebody to subscribe for only as long as they need to and then cancel their membership (although we'd certainly hope they stick around, haha).
It can be very hard to stay motivated with all the awesome games and mods there are out there to play instead. Gotta focus on joining the ranks of those awesome games and mods instead of just watching them as they parade by.
Wait a minute, the panda is raping the little fat girl!?! That's venturing into dangerous waters, ha ha.
Penny-arcade.com
Looks pretty cool! (besides the child rape part)
Cool, glad you liked it! Did you work through the Source Vehicle Programming tutorial as well?
Thanks Nilghai! Looks like you are doing some great work as well, keep it up!
Great stuff, congrats to all the entries and winners!
So Sweet!
This is really great to see all these awesome Unity projects! Congrats to all and really looking forward to playing these!
Awesomesauce
I think maybe the main difference will be that you'll be able to buy games through IndieDB but not through ModDB? (seems like they need to be separate sites since you can sell an indie game but not a mod). So, in theory, an indie project might choose IndieDB over ModDB so that they can sell their game through the site. I could be wrong about this though. :)
Very informative and cool!
Unity is very affordable compared to most other commercial game engines! You can even develop a game for free and release it commercially but it will have the Unity logo at the beginning (which might not be much of an issue). If you want to use Unity to develop for the iPhone you do have to buy the Unity iPhone license but I think it is currently only around 300 or 400$. Unity FTW!
hmmmmm.....AWESOME!
Awwww, I miss the scruffy Aussie narrator *sniff sniff*
But the better/longer footage and the bottom info slate are ftw!
I can haz full time jobz?
Very nice!
Nice work guys! I just played the online demo and it was fun.
(It might be too late to make changes but it seems like either a block or a jump would be nice so that you could avoid the ninja stars. After playing a bit I realized you could hit the ninja stars with your attack, but that isn't mentioned in the Help or Controls menus at all. Just my 2 cents.)
All of the above? Seems like the more payment options you can offer, the better.
Looks pretty cool!
How did you build it? Did you use Flash for the art and animation?
Why such a small fork? Seems like he should have a shovel, ha ha. Oh right, irony.
Raaaawwwwrrrooowwwwww!
Personally, I prefer concepts #I and #III from the bottom picture (1B and 3B).
The top 3 concepts seem like robot or futuristic armor suited angels while the bottom 3 are more traditional / human types. I like the second set better because of their style and also because you can see their faces, which I think gives them more personality and significance (of course, this may cause more work since you will probably have to do facial animation). I ruled out 2B because he's bald and I'm not sure it's even possible for angels to exhibit male pattern baldness, ha ha.
I think it's really cool that you're involving the community in your game design so early in the process and hopefully it will improve the overall project! Great work, looking forward to seeing more!
UNITY !!!
&
SOURCE !!!
ha ha, that Combine wasn't ON the toilet, he was standing in front of it! Huge difference. I do believe putting him on the toilet would require a custom animation pose :)
We shall support both GGTL and In Development!
Definitely sounds interesting! Looking forward to playing it!
Nice interview also, keep doing them.
Interesting and informative interview guys. Really looking forward to release and hope you find a good publisher.
(and also a good reminder to everyone to play Eternal Silence! The mod needs more players, and I need more enemy targets to shoot at!)
Seems like the forum link is broken? I just get an "Address Not Found" error page.
