TO GAME COMPANIES: First of all - thank you for your work and contribution to the world of gaming. As mentioned before: You are the Easter Bunny. We (the modders) are simply painting the eggs. But we are actively engaged in projects of serious game improvements. Mind that we are doing this in our spare time for zero ecomic benefit. I strongly encourage you to consider staff candidates from the Stalker modding scene. This is likely to be one of the best places for you to find motivation and dedication for a professional development environment. Several active modders are well capable of taking part in an actual and professional game development process. And if you choose not to I wish you the best in development and hope that at least some inspiration was found here. Thank you N.Aaroe The modding community

I agree that the first game-philosophy creates a much more immersive game world, than the latter. Also, looking at it in a real-world perspective (not that the Stalker scenario is very realistic in general, but still), a zone without all sorts of flimsy sci-tech would be most probable.

Also, The Road was a nice movie :)

I agree with the SciFi fact because regular Stalkers wouldn't have that kind of equipment. But then again as you mentioned, "the real-world perspective", of this really unrealistic scenario. I don't think it would be that unlikely that, 1. I would totally believe that the Ukrainian government was trying to develop some kind of super-soldier (like every other country with the ability to do so) and those soldiers should ofc have the fitting equipment, so they developed Exos, Gauss and so on. 2. The Zone would be crawling with SpezNaz, specially equipped and trained for such a scenario. 3. I think other countries, as it seems the world knows about the Zone to some degree. Like China would support the Ukraine and Russia.
But as this is a futuristic/fictional scenario everything is debatable.

A personal philosophy on what's the best game setup for the prime atmosperic experience and thrill of it all.

This is why I love Stalker.

This is why I haven't even played Crysis.
