But we are actively engaged in projects of serious game improvements. Mind that we are doing this in our spare time for zero ecomic benefit. I strongly encourage you to consider staff candidates from the Stalker modding scene. This is likely to be one of the best places for you to find motivation and dedication for a professional development environment. Several active modders are well capable of taking part in an actual and professional game development process. Not all the time but frequently. Although this static 'pecking' is of frustrating character we will make sure that it is delicate and won't disturb any more than any of the very awful mutant ambient sfx present in vanilla CoP (btw - we removed those...)

These are tradable items that can be attached/removed as you wish and whenever you wish.
Surge suppressor protects agains electricity.
Body cooler protects agains fire/burn.

Sounds like you are doing armour ruck to the steps (I am doing so myself as I really like that). Silenced shots sounds good and the echoes and bullet casing clings are great for the audio experience also.

Maybe that's exactly what needs to be done to it. It makes sense that you would prefer a lower recoil caliber round for an auto-shotgun like this.
My weapon lore stops here though: is a 'Saiga-12K 20 gauge' more likely to be present in The Zone in comparison to a '12 gauge version'?
Or is any Saiga-12 rifle actually compatible with both ammunition types?

This is good input also. I wondered if I could do something on the balancing part by using the fact that the weapon requires a certain type of clip in order for it to be used (but haven't figured that one out). But I have now made the Saiga very rare in The Zone and it is not attainable in the beginning of the game.

Shooting range material seems to show that true muscle is required to handle this one on auto. Had it used a special 12 gauge round I could limit the ammo for it and balance it out that way but it's regular 12x70 so I guess that I will have use a different approach

It's really a powerful weapon and I was actually amazed by the intensity of the fight when I was testing it ingame by giving it to a group of foes. I have not yet finished the part of scripting where I am making sure that the weapon doesn't make all other shotguns useless in comparison... There are several ways, but for one it won't be easily attainable..

Davidme, I feel as if we have pretty much the same approach to the game experience and oppinion on immersion. That's why it's cool to have your watchful eye on my development decisions and ideas.
There will be many AK's in The Zone but a Spas12 in a Zaton stash AND the Skadovsk tradeable stock? Not very likely.. That's my direction on weapon availability...

Actually I already made changes to the textures displayed:
Black duct tape also added around the scope body and red/orange parts on the scope (not really shown) are replaced with light metal grey materials.

They are not 100% real as the scope is too far away from your aiming eye. But they do use the cool effect of flexible zoom distance and look cool in terms of animation.

The black part is realistic so I will keep it there. It could be removed but that would give you a strange effect as everything around the scope would be zoomed in also. The thing you are wishing for is only realistic when using dot sights on weapons and that sort of 'scope view' seems to be popular in recent FPS games. However, it is not very authentic...

My Reconstruction of the weapons in ver.1.2: Gathered HIres textures from SoC,CS & CoP. Took parts from here and there to assemble each weapon. Cleaned them. Optmized visual quality. Coloured them. Designed unique amount of scratches, dirt and corrosion on each of them... Then I ReCustomized the audio..

In comparison to development of other big mods or in relation to your personal patience?

Last night I spend 2,5 hours just making sure that you are able to properly use the iron sights of the new M4A1 rifle - whether you are using a 4:3 or widescreen resolution monitor.
This is a time consuming and boring detail that you would simply expect from the final product but there are many boring tasks like these.
The expanded arsenal takes up about 70% of the development time.
If I didn't add any new weapons the mod would have been released by now.

Here I am doing my best to inform you guys about important development status and gather constructive feedback and I plan to keep it this way. I hope that you will understand.

The lookout tower seems to cast an artificial light towards the ground. That sort of thing does add to the atmosphere in addition to the day/night cyclus which is so good in these games. Looks really promising and well executed guys!

The new weapons are not all done yet but we are getting there at a steady pace. Quality comes before quantity and if the mod is to be released this year we have to focus on the models already presented :-)

Some 7zip files doesn't uncompress correctly. Apparently some files might be missed when extracting the files on different OS. Just a heads up - I use it often myself

Yeah, I will do my best to not overdo them. The strength of recoil relies heavily on the caliber but there are some exceptions though. Some screen effects also makes the shooting seem more powerful in this mod without having extreme recoil.
