TO GAME COMPANIES: First of all - thank you for your work and contribution to the world of gaming. As mentioned before: You are the Easter Bunny. We (the modders) are simply painting the eggs. But we are actively engaged in projects of serious game improvements. Mind that we are doing this in our spare time for zero ecomic benefit. I strongly encourage you to consider staff candidates from the Stalker modding scene. This is likely to be one of the best places for you to find motivation and dedication for a professional development environment. Several active modders are well capable of taking part in an actual and professional game development process. Our main concern is to have a build that allows a full playthrough. Secondary focus is to avoid bugs that require us to patch the game with a forced new game start as that we be unfortunate. NPC's also do take full use of all the various weapon profiles and trojanuch have that whole area fully covered.
So, with all of this fully implemented you might register that your comrade carries an AK-74 like yourself. But standing up close you will actually be able to identify if his rifle looks cleaner or more modernized when comparing to your own.

One of the things that came to my mind was the ability to add proper shell casing 'clinks' to first person perspective and not third person.

This is a rather weak point of the MISERY mod sound system right now, hearing clinks from far away.

Good luck and looking forward your examples of this system!

And I should add that finally there is a logic to looking closer and observing the beautiful weapon retextures of the NPC's. We are all able to recognize weapon models from a mile away. But up close you can now identify and distinguish multiple variations of each model (with diversified attributes). That is depth and quality in a weapon mod if I ever saw it.

N.Aaroe Jul 15 2012, 3:41pm replied:

Don't be offended but this question strikes me as a joke as the depth of Stalker is so much more than any other common FPS imo. Finally you will no longer have found 'THE AK of the game' but 'A AK' out of many. So that will keep you on your exploring toes still when it comes to locating other AK's in the environment or even on NPC's. 'Does he have a better version of this model than I?', 'Should I spend money on this - or will I find a better version?', etc... You seem to not find such depth of weapon aspects that important and I can repect that. But personally I find this mod going for quality over quantity and finally I will no longer rest my arsenal eyes even when I have found my most beloved weapon. I will keep analyzing and comparing it with other findings throughout my zone exploration. Now THAT is interesting and something that I have missed up until now. Thanks for expanding and deepening my Stalker world, Twist!

In this mod the eastern weapon types are the most corroted ones but thay all are to some extend. My earlier post actually said that western weapons requires more maintaining to function properly compared to eastern weapons.
In my oppinion this doesn't make the russian weapons any weaker.
I know a bit about this matter, being a nato soldier.

I did however make the unique russian weapons with a pretty clean texture keeping in mind that they were well maintained by veretan stalkers who does care alot about maintaining their gear.

Sound design is one of our most cherished areas. Whatever you hear will be specially fine-tuned to fit the atmosphere and the story. In addition, the procedural/generative sound engine allows us to achieve remarkable things. Rain, wind and ambient effects are not just long audio samples, but constitute a dynamic, original combination of sounds perfectly synched with what is happening on the screen: wind blows harder, floating pieces of garbage move faster, sound becomes more vivid, a storm rages in background, the screen flashes. The possibilities are almost infinite.

While we are trying to figure out while ModDB will not allow us to upload any new files...
- - - - - - -

Please compile your MISERY 2.1 mod by:
Downloading and installing MISERY 2.1 (Part 1/2, base): Moddb.com
Downloading and installing MISERY 2.1 (Part 2/2, update): Moddb.com

We are working on an even more convenient way for the mod hosting.

For 18 hours we have been trying to establish workarounds for this unfortunate situation.
It appears that the upload interface of ModDB prevents us from uploading files to the site.

Thank you for you patience and understanding.

The website host shut it down due to traffic overload. This is out of our hands unfortunately.
But now we have both the UPDATE and the FULL version being uploaded here at least.
And both of them fit within the max file size limit.

I just wonder why the uploads are sooo slow because we have a potent bandwidth here

The Mac is doing a local upload of the UPDATE version
while the PC is doing a local upload of the FULL version.
Both of them here to ModDB.

I wish ModDB could put a progression meter on the uploads as we have no clue about the progression in this type of upload.

A local upload is underway.
Today the MOdDB seems very heavy and slow.
Maybe we are not the only ones trying to publish stuff here.

miserymod.com website data distribution got shut down temporarily by hosts because of traffic overload.
This is something that we just can't ignore, unfortunately.
But the data is being uploaded elsewhere (including here on ModDB)

thanks for the patience guys.

The traffic at our own servers are slowing down the process for delivering the data to ModDB.
We have now commenced a separate local upload to ModDB for the UPDATE version.
Thanks for all the positive karma here on this site. It means a lot to us!

it appears that it did so. But we are here all day to manage stuff.
The UPDATE version is about to be uploaded here on ModDB (now at 60%)
The Full version will require a site admin to allow such file size.
