Don't worry about it.
Man, there are so many mods that I want to help out on. It sucks being a mediocre modder(the only thing I can competently handle is small texture, model edits and Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout). Maybe wherever I go to college there will be some kind of class that I can take on the side to improve skills, so I can help out with things like this in my free time.
First Strike was amazing! It's my favorite Halo book besides Fall of Reach. I was really hoping to see the epic space battle over Reach in the game version, but was very sadly disappointed. My Xbox would catastrophically explode if 300 Covenant ships came out of slipspace over Reach to face the "Big Sticks" and huge UNSC fleet...
Well I hope that'll work! But something tells me your going to need to do something clever to take them down rather than just brute strength. Maybe the UNSC equivalent of a turbo laser will do some work on them? A Scarab shouldn't be taken lightly in any situation though.
Oh great, I'll have to deal with Scarabs... Speaking of that, the UNSC needs something to counter the Scarab. If MAC rounds are nearly instantaneous they could take it down easily, but what if you have no MAC rounds? Just thinking of the balance issues here.
They did that in Halo Wars, I have to admit that it's pretty cool. When Spartans are close to there victims they also do some cool stuff, like an assassination in Halo Reach.
So tanks can fire shells at aircraft? Halo Wars made it to where only the machine gun will fire at aircraft that are hovering still in the air, easy targets for shells. Although I'm glad if you are making it to where they can fire shells at aircraft, there will probably be some serious balance issues. I guess that's where scarabs come in, right? Although, tanks beat ghosts. Tanks beat hunters. Tanks beat everything!
They can't shoot at aircraft can they?
First thing I'm doin land wise is making an army of swift pig death!
Well that makes it somewhat even, doesn't it? If both sides are lacking a piece of their puzzle neither can finish before the other.
I vote ODST drops over MAC bombardment any day. Although it'll be nice to have MAC rounds to take down Scarabs.
I have a bit of constructive criticism for you. The Wraith mortar projectile is just downright massive! Later in the video it showed that it's area of effect is so large it can take down an entire platoon of marines that you just told to land in one shot. I don't know if you really want it that way, but this IS just criticism. Second, I find it strange that Hunters stand upright while idle. It's also strange to see them run upright, but it doesn't look as weird as when it's just standing there. Third, it looks like the Warthog has to stop to shoot. That makes their speed and agility useless to me, except when I use them as a fast response group. I don't know if you can fix that or that you simply didn't exploit that feature in the video. That's all of my criticism for now. I hope you aren't offended and keep up the great work!
Oh man, it'll suck having to fight those freakin choppers! Although I doubt the AI will use them how the should be used. I'll send them past the infantry to run them over, not just to hit them with the guns. Like the cavalry from LotR BfME2.
With all of this awesome land stuff, I can't wait to see what you do with space! Considering you aren't doing anything ridiculous like adding ships that don't exist (except of course you said you'd add the Vulture to space) it's going to be great! I can't wait to have the Pillar of Autumn under my control!
Thank all that is good! I can't wait for more updates! I hope you can still get to the ground beta stage by the time Halo CE Anniversary comes out despite this setback.
I'm so editing Johnson's XML to make him like Chuck Norris! I'll use him when I've got no other options left.
It's going to take forever to make my new character...
If you've got the cash for another hard drive or you can borrow another one from an old PC or some other person's PC, this is a the best course of action I'm pretty sure. Good luck with recovering all of that work! Oh, and use Windows 7 from now on! Or XP if you prefer it.
So that's what was going on with the mag, nice catch! Although I don't understand what that thing sticking out on top of the mag is... I have an airsoft Echo 1 P90 (pretty much a fully accurate model of the real thing) and I've used the P90 in a lot of different games. I'm pretty darn sure that there isn't anything under the magazine or on the top of the magazine. When I first saw this picture I was very confused and kind of still am. Why would they release an inaccurate picture? Oh well, I'm just happy my favorite weapon is in the game.
Wait, are you sure you're saying the beam rifle (this thing Halo.wikia.com) is a horrible sniper's weapon compared to this thing (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Focus_Rifle)?
The pod drop was pretty cool to watch too.
I have to disagree, for the Covenant the beam rifle suits them better. The focus rifle is useful at close to medium range, but is not a real sniper's weapon. It reveals your position very easily considering it's bright and you have to fire for a long amount of time to kill what you're shooting. The carbine is also more conventional than the needle rifle and can fire faster and fairly accurately, so I prefer it over the needle rifle.
I can't wait to see the Falcon! Will it have the main chin gun like the singleplayer one? Oh, and about the hornet, I think someone said there should be people riding on the sides because it looks empty. I agree with that but that may overpower it unless they only have assault rifles.
That poor marine laying limp on the command point didn't fare well against this fellow...
I hope for the Halo 2 and 3 beam rifle and carbine, I'm not a fan of the needle rifle or the focus rifle.
Excellent looking ODST!
I was thinking of this as well. It was pretty nifty in Halo Wars to be able to use infantry to fight light vehicles and even heavy vehicles if you've got enough men. The rocket ability is a definite plus in my book, or at least a substitute like mines. Although if you're making ODSTs with rocket launchers, that ability would defeat their purpose.
These things shouldn't really be labeled anti air. They tear up ground based units better than the normal wraith. And if it's anything like the game, I'll bet if you skillfully maneuver those new hornets of yours, they can dodge most of the shots.
That's the first thing I'm taking down in a group of enemies. It looks to be as deadly to ground based units as it is to air based ones. I can see two of these things taking down two or three squads of marines and taking down a vehicle or two's health with one burst...
Uhhh, my last post went haywire. It was meant to be after what Farseer said about the flood.
That is my least favorite level in the entire series... Have you by chance ever read The Mona Lisa in Halo Legends? One of the best short stories I've ever read. Although there is another story in there called Dirt that is pretty amazing too.
As long as the MA5B (assault rifle) sounds similar and there aren't armor abilities, I'm fine.
This may have been answered, but quite honestly I don't want to look. How are Spartans being handled? Just a few Spartan IIs that can be built, or like twenty Spartan IIIs at a time? Or just no Spartans at all? No Spartans would make sense because of their low numbers, but that wouldn't be very fun would it?
I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times before, but I couldn't find the answer. Can you give us an ETA on the ground beta? I'm absolutely drooling over the thought of playing this.
The Rebel heavy tank can switch between lasers and missiles, can it not?
