I play video games and enjoy modding them. I have skills with Photoshop, Paint.NET, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks and I am busy learning my way around 3DSMAX. Currently a Mechanical Eng. student.
It has been a while since I posted a blog entry here on moddb, it's about time I updated it. To say the least there hasn't been anything significantly interesting to talk about, 2016 however, is proving to be a year of change for me in particular.
To begin with the usual stuff I am finishing up my Mechanical Engineering qualification, currently working full time as an engineering trainee and going to class about twice a week. It's been great and I have the opportunity to get the hours I need for in-service training in addition to earning some cash on the side which as a full time student was always hard to come by. After this year I will be studying further to get my honours degree (B.Tech / B. Eng Tech) after which I don't see myself studying any further. I am not really one that is interested in postgraduate studies, but who knows it may grow on me at a later point.
Here is my design project I did in semester 2 of 2015. It was a serious crammed effort towards the end due to a test timetable close to the deadline but I was happy with it when it was done. I learned a lot doing the project which is always a good end result.
In other news I bought a new fishing kayak and have taken up kayak fishing as a hobby. It's great fun and good exercise, not to mention it gets you outdoors which is never a bad thing. I am still quite new to the sport but so far it's been a lot of fun and great way to escape the worries of everyday life,
In the gaming sphere I haven't been that active, I have pretty much stopped playing online shooters like Battlefield 4 and resultantly my skills aren't too sharp which is making getting back into those sorts of games quite challenging. Over the past few months I haven't really been playing many new games, but mostly old games that I played ages ago (2004 - 2006), I got somewhat addicted to Evil Genius which I found very entertaining and it was fun to play when I had the time. I also replayed Overlord and a bit of the AoE 2 HD campaign.
This year I intend to get up to date with my gaming. My computer is also growing a bit tired, I am still running a GTX 560Ti which only has a gig of memory, which by today's standards just plain doesn't cut it. I am super excited on the release of the third Star craft 2 entry and not to mention the announcement of the new Mass Effect Title. I have always been a huge fan of the Star craft / Mass Effect universes and definitely will be playing them this year. I have decided to set the deadline for upgrading my PC to a week before Mass Effect Andromeda is released. I intend to replace my CPU cooler with a water cooling unit, install an SSD with a fresh copy of windows 10, add another 8 GB of ram and to replace my GPU (which will probably entail replacing the PSU as well) with the best one I can afford something in the ball park of a 960 / 970 with a minimum of 4Gb of memory.
I guess for now that is pretty much it, I will try be a bit more active on this blog as the year progresses. I also want to get back into the modding scene and finish up The Road to Limansk with TSF, but I will put any information relevant to the mod on the page.
Happy New year all, thanks for reading!
