Just a friendly pointer. If you want to do simple models, kHed is much more suited for that, and it can export obj/smd/3ds and a whole .mdl file, tho it does not support bones so only static models are doable. Also, studiomdl made for xash engine supports much higher rez textures, and it can be found on gamebanana, under tools section by the member Olaf.

Might I ask, if someone was to develop a single-player game based upon this engine, would he be able to distribute it commercially (either free or for profit, with credits to the rightful team/people) or are there legal restrictions?

Idk. I really wanted to play this mod, but every time I install it, my game crashes when I try to enter the zone.

My pc specs are:

Intel 2.6 GhZ dual core processor
Nvidia 620 GTX 1024mgb
2gb ram.

I played Bioshock Infinite on medium graphics on this PC, and Stalker SOC/CS on almost maximum settings.

Idk, but if this mod requires more then this, it is really insane.

Buy HL-1 original from 1998 (it runs on Gold Source engine). The HL-1 source came out later and isn't for this mod (it runs on source engine)...

People, would you just stop complaining and bi*ching around. If you think there is something wrong with the mod, say what you dislike about it and give a solution to the problem, if you come up with one. F*cking around isn't gonna get you anywhere, and if your doing that just to get peoples attention or just cause your sad of your life, then go somewhere else or find professional help.
Now I would like to say a few words about the mod. One thing is that the monsters don't fit the atmosphere. The thing is that if you look at silent hill 1/2's monsters and atmosphere in comparison to the coop you made, you'll see that the monsters in SH1/2 go along with their surrounding, lets take the SH town for example. It looks like it is abandoned, the walls are dirty and the paint is falling off and there is rust on them, and the monsters you encounter there go with the look of the town, unlike yours. Your monsters look creepy, they are covered in blood and that's ok, but your town looks too clean, like nothing out of the ordinary (too normal, like nothing has happened), and those two don't go along too well. My suggestion is that you change the textures used for the town, and make them more chaotic (dirty, bloody etc...). As for the monsters, you don't disappoint me accept for the ones tied to the beds. They are... ridiculous (I'm sorry to say that). I mean if they can fly, id like to be a monster xD. I know its hard to change models (I'm a mapper, but I tried making some models and skins too, but failed :S), but if you could just add something to them, like wings that broke through the beds or tentacles with witch they can move, idk... you figure something out, just don't let them stay that way.
Well, that's all I had to say..., this is my first post here actually and I think I gave you some useful advice. Hope it helps ^.^
