i made a post a couple weeks ago regarding the state of DBS and just wanted to keep you all updated. The website I've been working on will be up in a few days, and so should be the forum, and then people can organise stuff and do whatever.

The website will look like one of the old ones we had, but slightly revamped to work better, as for some reason, the other one didn't work right ??? :S ??? so it's taken a little longer than I expected it to take. Though will be up soon for all to see.

gonna make a news post about this mod in a few mins, so please all have a read of it etc

i mean, you don't even show news like... "We now have a Facebook Group" or "Follow us on Twitter"

So what if your updates don't include ingame content or 3D Models, they don't even include updates that mean nothing but having an online presence. It's like you don't even have a game to talk about.

Hell, i checked out your forums just now and you told some guy that you haven't even decided if your going to release 1 saga at a time or all saga's at once... thats a decision you need to make before you make content of any kind so you have direction. It sounds like you haven't made anything at all and all this mod serves as is something to put on your CV

Fair do's if this game is still progressing, but it's been going 10 years now, 6 years since we at DBS split off from you guys. I don't really care if you guys release info or not, your never going to be releasing this game any time soon, if ever.

You've got to be admit to yourselves that this has failed and then move on with your lives.

You say you don't have a full dev team of 20-30 people. Your kidding yourself if you think indy developers like ourselves have teams of that many. We had 4 people active working on DBS when it was released, 1 was a sound guy as well. We released a build in what, 1 year?

You also say you do this in your spare time... so did we... so does all indy game developers. I had a 9-5 job at the time. You either put the effort in or you don't, or your incapable of doing so. As i recall you never did work Fever as you were always playing City of Heroes, and thats why we left, we didn't wanna work for someone who wouldn't even work on his own game.

same old n00b comments tbh.... omg i can't have access to the private stuff so and i'm bored of the stuff i can see, so therefore i'll beg for content and complain.

if you think it's boring, at least say why and what you think could help improve it. but hey, the opening stages to HL1, well any game tbh, are pretty boring, so if you think things like this are boring, i don't think playing computer games is your thing and you should move on ;)

Nice video anyway, it's come along way since i last looked at the mod and stuff

no new mod content is planned, the website will be coming back online though, so if people still make maps and such for DBS, they can share with one another and you'll get new content that way. I may even finish off some of the old offical maps that needed finishing, and inprove the stability of current ones, not sure yet so no promisses.

as concerns servers. HL2 based servers are very cheap these days and most companies will install 3rd party mods for you if you ask em nicely, so more servers are readily available if you want them that badly :D

as concerns full mod support. the entire staff, inc myself, have moved onto to pastures new and doing other projects, so there is no official development of dbs. if i do anything, i'd only be improving the mod from my own point of view and doing it in my own free time.

i'll be bringing the website back online soon, just had some issued that needed to be resolved, and almost done doing that. Sorry for it being down, but it HAD to be done.

we only provide support at our forums at this current time, well at least the detailed kind of support you all seem to require, though they are probably simple fixes, provided you aren't using a hacked version of hl2

it is an installable file (msi not exe but they are the same thing). It's just contained within the winrar because moddb didn't allow uploading of msi files. they do now though, cos i asked em to add it :D

winrar is like 1mb free download though... or you can open with winzip, which is typically on computers by default these days, so you can't really say you don't have it ;)

i think i still have the map i made for this mod somewhere. it's not finished, but the layout is and probably wouldn't take much work to finish it off. lemme know if you guys want it, FG and DS still have me on msn i believe :). I won't reapply for this mod though, cos DBS take up to much of my time atm :D

yeah, sorry for their 7 years or more of development compared to our 1 year.... must apologise for not putting in that extra 6 or more yars worth of work... we're so stupid for not doing that. again sorry for us being so stupid to not realise the obvious.

Seriously though, thank you for the warning, for the next release, we'll all be sure to travel 10 years back in time so we can work an extra 10 years on our mod, then you can compare us to ESF.

If you want to compare us to ESF, compare us to ESF when they only had 6 months worth of development in their mod... thats how much development we have in our currently released mod, and i think you'll find that we are ahead.

man, you might as well compare the total combined content of released HL1 mods to the total combined content of released HL2 mods if your going to compare us to ESF.

half-life 2 comes with steam, so just get that ;)

also, there's not supposed to be a spacxe between the words "Source Mods" in the path you install to. please check the installation guide on our website as it tells you the simpliest way to get started with the mod.

film chsaracters (inc Garlic Junior) are made up by a separate group of people, not the original creator of Dragonball/Z, and as such, are not part of the Dragonball universe.

Also, Garlic Junior is immortal, and so would have to be an undying character to keep it in line with the show ;) making him an very unbalanced character

look, i keep deleting your messages that are begging us for a release date and that also insult our staff saying we won't release until 2010 or later... ha ha... yeah we all get a good laugh out of that. If you think you can do better, please leave us all alone and make your own mod and show us how much faster you are.

can you use hl2 demo to play the whole of hl2? nope. this is because things are missing, and so it also means things are missing that'll allow you to play DBS

follow the instructions on our website... thats what they are there for.

also i like how he leaves his email address for people to reply to :/ ... 99.999% chance that he never intends to return here and check for replies. so tbh, no one waste your time giving a more detailed explaination tHan i already did... tbh, he answered his own question in his comment

@ ronnie42: don't use online translators... no one can understand anything your saying... although the end sounds like your saying that yourassuming the moddb trailer they have up is how the mod looks... this is not the case, there is no way for us to replace or disable that video, so if you ant to see the game, download it and play it.

@ DevilDog6: Why does it look like a mod no one plays? moddb isn't our primary fanbase, our own website is, and it's a very active place full of players, plus if you visit this link, you can see the mod stats with current players and amount of servers. On peak times we are usually in he top 20 steam games, and in the past we've been higher up than dystopia ;) ... not comparing us with them though ;) we also don't have bots for our mod to jack up the player numbers like most mods do :D

@ vezzy: Thats likely a moddb problem, try again later or try a different mirror that can be found on our website.

@ sinful: sprites don't exist in HL2 mods, but if you wish to insult something that has nothing to do with our mod, please feel free to continue ;). if you have some constructive critisim about visuals in our mod, please visit our forums and offer an insight as to how we can improve and we'll do our best to fix up things for the coming full release (no date for that as of yet)

not sure yet, just finishing off the finer details with the Saiyan Saga, which'll include things like Kaiouken and Oozaru, with a few maps, amoung a few other updates and feature additions to the game.

on moddb, only download files that have been uploaded by myself (NAGASH) or Gundeh, and you'll be perfectly safe.

coldphire is the guy to be careful of and he has been reported to moddb

The team formed in April 2005. Worked on a single player version and it was put on hold, until god only knows when, in Oct/Nov 2006. Then Multiplayer Version was started in Nov 2006 and announced in Dec 2006 when the video on the mod profile was shown. Only things that were transfered over from single player was the roshi house (not the rest of the map) and like 3 or 4 player models, that weren't 100% complete.

So yeah, technically 100% of the mod isn't 5 months of development... well 6 months if you count the time before announcement of a release date... but 95% in 6 months isn't an unfair estimation.

Also... from the DBSource Staff... thank you for this "preview" :) it's much appreciated, and i hope you'll do a full review in the future once we are complete. thanks.
