Month of silence... hoping this isn't a bad sign.

I think a nice little addition to these screen updates would be to add a little box in the corner showing the previous update for newcomers to easily see the progress being made, maybe even date them. None the less, this is still a good steady speed you're working at.

Not going to bother posting a news item for this, just going to simply say we're picking up speed on pre-production. Trying a few different ideas.

Also twitter me:

I'll be posting mini-updates frequently there if you are interested in the going ons of our mod.

Mainly single-player.

We do have some ideas for multiplayer but haven't settled on having that in the initial release unless its something unique.

It is actually a fusion, I liked the movies, tv show, comics, and novel, so I want to incorporate ideas and designs from all of them. I'm aiming at making this a little more serious than the movies though I still will have moments of corniness, but only in the propaganda videos and posters.

I think the main idea isn't to use the same style of gameplay as Left4Dead with only four characters but to use the engine advancements to generate a large horde of creatures with little stress on a computer rig.

This is actually not a bad idea that slipped my mind. When the mod was first being made Left4Dead wasn't even around. I'd have to look into this.

I wasn't using the small team as an excuse, we were all reletively new to modding and we were actually producing some nice work at the time. What happened was events in a few members real lives that forced them to have to leave the mod causing us to grind to a halt.

The rest of what you're saying I'm a little fuzzy on but if your saying I should of put the work we had done up than you are right, that would of been a viable option.

With the addition of the news announcement I've also redone the main description to better fit the current direction of the mod. I will probably end up expanding the description even further when I have time. Also, if you didn't notice a new image has been uploaded which is of coarse the first piece of concept art for the new take on the mod. Nothing special really just a thank you to all those who still follow us or poked around to see if we were still kicking.

Now back to the Design Document...

The Starship Trooper Mod was closed down due to some tragic events on key mempers of our team (we only had a small team of five people) which lead to a temporay pause in production that ended up leading into a full on closing of the mod.

I still wish to make that mod and I have started to plan a new design document and story that I will begin to write today but I'm not sure I'd want to physically be the team leader as before as I'm not entirerly up to speed with EVERYTHING a team leader needs to know (I know mapping and conceptual design) so I'm hopping with a good story and design document I can get a team together and go again.

Very impressive work. I do however have to say there are far to many wrinkles in the clothes that they blend with the skin too much, this however could be forgiven if the clothes are made of the same skin the creature has.

We're going to be using the Episode 2 engine in the final product which we hope to get some nice texture and effects work out of.

Hey guys, just wanted to say I'm currently in love with our forum and would love if more people joined.

We're currently pretty active with only 10 members and I have been replying to almost everything. We tend to drop little tidbits of info more there.

Devblog #1 is up on our forum.

The Devblog will be a forum exclusive and will be a bi-weekly/weekly thing.

Regular media releases will still be made the Devblog is simply to give people a deeper insight into internal workings of the mod good and bad.

The first blog is just the story of how the original mod died and was reborn but still a good read if you want to get an insight on mods in general.

About the amount of bugs on screen:

We ran some tests on an average rig with everything on high and got about 50 antlions with little loss. I know we can get more out of it as well. The thing is the Warrior bug isn't very complex so we should be able to get the poly count low enough to squeeze even more bugs on screen (we had a crude temp model when it was Starship Troopers: Outpost which had the same poly count as a headcrab).

50 is actually a good number already. We'll get more out of it without hindering gameplay. The game won't be all about just gunning down the bugs though... my big complaint about the ST game by Strangelight was that after three minutes the novalty of a mass of bugs coming to me wore off as I was just holding down the trigger button. That is why it is very important to break up the action properly, something they tried but didn't pull off.

Sorry for anyone else who hasn't been able to register, this could explain the lack of new registrations since the forum launched.

We are unaware when or why this happened but it should be fixed shortly, once it is I invite you all to come and join us over at the forums.

A little more information on what is going on: Nothing (exaggeration).

Don't take that as the mod is dead because it isn't. As Protostar said me and him have had conflicting schedules for the past two weeks causing things to go as slow as malaises.

Thankfully, this is my second last day at my work before I leave for college where I will have more time to work on the mod. I have been running through some ideas in my head and have begun writing them up for something big.

I am struggling to find a concept artist so he can work with me on fleshing out ideas.

So, what I'm saying is that my last day at work is saturday and after that I am free for two weeks where I will hunker down and get things cracking to have a big media release before I head to school. After that I hope to have media releases every two weeks or so to keep everyone pumped.

The only thing I ask of the community is that you keep us pumped, keep active, leave comments, ask questions. I'd love if all of you would head to our forums (http://mobileinfantry.my20mb.com/forums/) and leave some posts. I'm on it everyday and love to see new messages over there and love answering all of them.

Someone asked me to do this once.

I actually considered it before realizing it just wouldn't work as well. The whole bugs with technology and weapons thing is what turns me off. I love the book but there are just so many games out where aliens fight you with advanced weaponry that I wanted to do something different. The movie is the right kind of different.

Reskinning the antlion wouldn't work as well as one would think but making reusing the A.I. from the antlion was a thought we considered.

The fluidity of the animation is amazing however for what you're trying to achieve which, I think is the combine trying to be stealthy I have a few pointers.

For one his right arm should be tucked in closer to his body to make him a smaller target. And two, he shouldn't sway back and forth so much when he's walking, he'd be more static with the way his upper body moves.

Short but it had high production values.

IT kind of left you hanging in the end and there are a ton of monsters you only see once. I also wished there were more notepads lying around because some stuff was left unexplained.
