Finally a breath of fresh air! MoW is too good to be only set in the WW2. If I were you I would pursue one project at a time though.
Sounds fabulous. Best wishes to you guys.
I'm afraid you will have to figure that out by yourself, my skills in this area are rather limited. If you could just find a way for the player not to be able to equip more than one (or two, some body armors allow a back plate I think) it would be nice.
Another way would be to implement it as an attachment to the suit, like weapon attachments. Again I'm not too sure how it would work in coding terms.
I have no idea about that, sadly. I was thinking you could configure it so it would occupy an artifact slot or something similar, and so temporarily boost armour protection and durability while degrading with damage taken. But yeah.
Awesome. You guys are great.
It would be cool if you could just swap armour plates instead of having to repair the whole suit sometimes.
Nice to hear that. I've been aching to play your mod since you talked about it on KC but I'm still without a PC able to run anything more demanding than solitaire. :P
Heh, looked like a Pz.IV at first. Nice.
Models are great, but I would opt for some guy without a gasmask or helmet. It's inside the bar after all, not outside in the wilderness.
This mod is a little gem rough around the edges. If you manage to polish it a little bit it will definitely become a hit.
Please don't touch the weapons too much. Damage and accuracy were spot on in 1.1; recoil was also, in my opinion, believable and important for the overall balance.
Also, I'm conflicted about the artifact detector. While it could in theory be a nice feature, I feel it does the exploration for you. Please don't make artifacts ONLY visible with a detector equipped, I'd like to be able to explore without one in case it spoils the exploring part a bit too much.
Great posts. Agree especially with your take on weapons.
Just stopping by to say I've voted you for MOTY. You deserve it. :P
Well, STALKER 2 will never come out, so you guys are our hope. :(
High quality and good looking as always.
Also, voted for MOTY.
Voted for MOTY. You guys are great.
I'm pleased to see you're still around, I'll definitely buy your game if it keeps the promises.
Ariete? Yay, cool.
Just stopping by to say I'm looking forward to 2.0, the earlier installment of the mod was very nice. :)
Nice to hear that. ;)
Holy ****, nice. So this means there will be fixed heavy MG emplacements in multiplayer as well?
Wait wait wait, a game that lets you shoot illegal immigrants? This is awesome. Thank you guys.
Eight and a half years? Now that's dedication. I actually got to know probably a year ago about this and I was immediately thrilled, Matrix and Max Payne were the coolest things for me... Eight and a half years ago. So I'm definitely going to play this. Eight more years, probably. :P
Keep up the good work, looks great mate.
Why not release it for SA and then port it to GTA IV then?
Great, I love early 20th century stuff. :P
So the zone will feel less empty than in vanilla? Awesome.
Wow. I thought you guys did come up with better ideas to keep players entertained other than the silly old tools treasure hunt.
And here I thought this could be a realistic vehicular combat mod. Oh well, seems nice anyway.
True power doesn't need to be paraded around, I bet loners respect him and go to him to ask favors or a hand in fixing delicate situations. I read a little bit about Russian criminal underworld and he really fits the stereotype. While STALKER doesn't feature much interaction between NPCs besides shooting eachother in the face, I bet a similar organization would be much less murderous in reality, bandits would become just accepted as a fact of life and tolerated rather than shot on sight, except by Duty fanatics.
The thing about the arena in SoC is that it's basically free money. There's nothing particularly hard about the fights, especially with realism mods that tend to highlight the AI's faults. They are over quickly over and the pay is nice. Will you balance this out, making it a little bit harder to profit off of it?
How much will three game hours last in real time? Just curious. And thanks for crediting me in the last ZoA release, I noticed recently. :)
Love the detail on the receiver.
Good work, I like it!
Basically instead of zzz you see stars fly around in a circle. Every few seconds one disappears until the last one is gone and the guy wakes up. :P
The correct Swastika is the one to left in the picture. The one on the right is reversed. :P
Hey man, glad to see you're expanding the project. Good luck, it sounds really promising. What about adding some maps from Clear Sky?
That suit looks fantastic.
And also to conquer new horizons.
I think the keyword here is "progression". As you progress through the game you find better equipment - artifacts, weapons, suits. In some games you level up, in others it's done differently.
AKM is a reliable and powerful rifle. It wouldn't look out of place in the hands of a rookie given its relatively high availability, but it would spoil progression a bit. I tend to stick to assault rifles, so I'm content with having to wait some more rather than having one straight out of Cordon.
Thank you so much, you guys are great.
If I were you I'd place 7,62 penetration between 5,45 and 5,45 AP. Also, lethality doesn't always equate to "stopping power" (what an ugly, controversial term). 7,62x39 is said to make cleaner wounds than lighter calibers, but but I believe it has a good record of incapacitating with very few hits. Which is understandable if you think how a heavy and slightly larger slug can shatter bone with ease, among other things. I would step up its damage five points or so, and let 7,62 be the more damaging round in AP variant.
As for your question, recoil seems spot on from the video in the mod's homepage, perhaps just slightly too much for the 5.56 weapon (SIG?).
When weapons have high damage values, recoil is an excellent balancing factor, as seen in LURK. Otherwise the gunplay feels a bit too easy and less... crisp. I'll finally be able to try ZoA out and see for myself in the next couple of weeks, when the new motherboard I ordered finally arrives.
Hope I'm not boring you discussing every minute intricacy of terminal ballistics, I guess I like the subject. :P
So is 7,62 going to be heavier to carry and less powerful? Will it have any redeeming qualities, like better availability or better reliability of the guns that use it?
Ha, that's great. You're doing good guys, I'm pleased to see the work goes on.
Actually spelled "Beretta". I should know, I'm Italian. :P
Agreed. If only for propaganda purposes, it should be renamed to emphasize that it's not the rifle of the Communists, but "actually" an all-american "variant" of it. Also adds to the exotic feeling of this all, heh.
So America got beaten up quite bad in the mod's timeline and is in need of help from the USSR? Then it kinda makes sense, still the concept of assault rifle kinda clashed with American doctrine of the time.
If I recall correctly the adoption of M16 rifles found strong opposition because its caliber was deemed lacking in power, range etc. Wouldn't a domestic produced .30 caliber battle rifle make more sense? They even experimented with full-auto garands that accepted BAR magazines.
Who needs stealth when you've got armor and firepower? :P
Nicely done, but doesn't look like a Cobra (the BF2 one at least) at all. I suggest re-texturing.
Well, its pretty nice for an early screenshot, dude. :)
Just give to the vehicles their real names...
