What's to be said? I just a non-regular 21 year-old Argentinian :P I have a sharp interest in anything related to science and I love to put my mind into any subject, so beware to start a discussion with me! (chadaFACE would know). well, what else... I've had over 10k visitors to date, so that must mean that I'm quite popular (or so does my ego like to beleive). what else, what else... Oh I almost forgot. I'm a modest mission maker for the game Nexus: The jupiter incident, but I'll expand my horizons sooner than later. I'm currently working in the mod Stargate: War Begins (yeah, you've probably guessed I'm a stargate fan by now) as a mission maker and mild coder, and also trying to finish a damn book I've been writing since I was 12.

well, I'm starting a close beta in a few weeks, with a crude version of the mod, to test it for bugs and hear out outside comments.
Let me know if you or anyone is interested in that.

The mod sizes are adequate, withing a certain limit. There are ships just too big for the game to handle, so we scaled them down a bit.
Take a look at this chart: Forum.gateworld.net

that's allright, but keep in mind that this won't be the only campaign we release, we are working on a sequel and a third installment too, so the work of the voice actors won't end here... it's likely that this won't be a one time thing... and we have many more characters in store :P

Like I said, names are not final. We can just as easily change the gender of one of the characters. But lets face it: female voice actors are much harder to find...

even with a crappy french accent :P As long as it's understandable, everything goes (keep in mind that by the end of SGU, the Stargate program was multinational, so it won't too extrange to have a non-american in charge of a space ship). Also, note that some of the names are not final, for example having a russian voice actor for a character named with a latino name such as "Rodriguez" won't be too suiting, so we may change them, if the need arises.
Just send a demo and we'll see what next from there.

Haven't manage to make the game work on linux, but I blame that on my computer. If the game works on *nix, there's no reason why the game mod shouldn't.

If only I can find the exact wheel I need for my problem I wouldn't have to reinvent it at every step :P
Sometimes is modifying and adpting other people's work is harder than making it from scratch, most often than not you end up with a mean looking frankestein monster in your table...

Yeah, as a dev you can answer a few questions, but you can't just teach.
I learned the basics by myself by seeing the work of others and working backwards from there.
However, I know now that I was an idiot back then. My code was completely inefficient, badly written, extremely hard to mantain and just, well, crap.
I learned how to code in college, and applied that knowledge in the making of my mod, and thanks to what I learnt there (and still learning) I'm a much better mod programmer.
So I'd say a mixture of self-taught and school learning.

Now reading A Song of Ice and Fire series, by George R. R. Martin, like pretty much everyone else in the world. Though I can see why. Already blew through two of the books, and I have to say that this is one of the best series I've ever read.
I'd make a summary of the story, but there's no way to dumb down the story to do so. Plus, it's famous enough as it is.

Loved every minute of it. The clothing in particular was superb.
The only thing that didn't quite add up to me was Nigel Griffin...
I know why John, Watson and Helen haven't aged a day... but Nigel? Shouldn't he either by extremely old or dead by 1944?

try running the game as an administrator. Either that, or just choose a instalation directory that isn't in the Program Files folder.
