I'm a gaming and modding/development enthusiast. I am currently studying Game Design in Berlin, Germany and in my free time i'm working on different side-projects - and mods of course. I finished an apprenticeship in movie postproduction (Editing, mixing, delivery)before applying for the game-design program, and I'm eager to continue working in both fields.

Hey, did you correctly extract the .zip files? they have to be extracted before they can be recognized by the game - you should get a .pk3 after extraction and put that in the base directory. If that is not the problem, chack if you have other texture mods which maybe override the mod.
Let me know if it worked ;)

Hey guys, this looks like an interesting project, especially building everything from scratch - but there's one thing I noticed: on the first screenshot of the news-post the scale of the environment textures (expecially the grass and daisies) seem a bit too big in comparison to the person. maybe that's an easy fix - just to rescale things a bit. This would improve realism quite some bit ;)

Besides that things look very interesting! Keep up your work!

Cheers!

Hey, thanks! Well currently this project is strictly focusing on textures but there are plans with a fellow modder to improve map objects and weapons in the future, maybe even player models. We'll see ;)

Hi, I'm sorry I never heard of this error before - can you give me more details? which level did this error occur in, what sort of graphicscard do you have and do play on a 32 or 64 bit system?
Cheers!

Hey ZikShadow, thanks for the great post, these are exactly the solutions I had planned to include. The next release (very likely next month) will come in two version, "Full" and "Lite". The "Lite" version will incorporate those fixes aswell a higher compression for all textures. The "Full" version will retain the huge sizes for those environment textures aswell as visually lossless compression settings for best quality.
Also a single .pk3 will be released with only the 4096x4096 fixes, for those who wan't the better compression as in the "Full" version.
Cheers!

Hey Killaine, I think we narrowed it down! I will defenitely rework the pack with a "lite" version, so this issue will be hopefully solved with that! Thanks so much for the feedback and support!

Hey Killaine, thanks so much for your feedback regarding this issue, it's highly appreciated! I'm thinking maybe it is a problem with windows 32bit and in that case the engine not being able to adress enough RAM/VRAM or so so that some of the textures don't show up properly? Do zou have a 32bit or 64bit system? (I've got 64bit) Cheers!
oh and checking with the other mods did not cause prblems for me...

Another question - how much video-RAM do you have on your graphics-card?

Mr.Zz Nov 13 2014, 8:51pm replied:

Oh, but they are compressed although I have to keep some balance between best possible quality and compression (artifacting etc.)
Also the biggest environment textures in the game (Hoths Snowy-ground-textures and the canyon-wall-textures on Chandrilla) were 2048x2048 in the first place and looked horrible. So yeah to get them to look ok I had to replace them with such large versions.
And I thought about possible Engine-limitations too, so you have a point there. Strangely enough on my PC everything works fine, but I will create a "light" pack with reduced texture-sizes (stil better thatn the original of course) for those who have the same problems as you do!

It's really strange, missing textures in the outdoor regions is the only error with my pack, I'm still trying to figur out the reason for that - probably texturesize of more than 8000px x 8000px often Hoth and Taspir...

I always like to be close to textures, so that's no problem for me ;)
No, seriously thanks for the feedback, the tiling is always a big problem.
Sadly, if you stick much more detail on the same spot, tiling will be more obvious from far away because all of it gets repeated just a few steps next to it, but that's nothing i can change really - it's determined by the level itself and how it was textured originally - I only replace the textures and although I always triple check and repaint them to not have such obvious tiling it always occurs from far away since the engine doesn't support mipmapping... *sigh*

But I am a bit confused, did you refer to the pics in this news post or the ones in the gallery?

Cheers!
