I dont make mods but I love playing them! I get mods for sins of a solar empire and star wars empire at war mostly, but I also play Garrysmod, If that even counts.......

to my very basic understanding, all 3D models have polygons in them to form shapes, the higher the polygon count of a model, the smoother the edges look and the more detailed the model looks. However, this can cause performance issues, especially in older games not designed to have high polycounts in them, or lower end machines.
its not bad, it could be used for a specific regiment of troopers, but it should not replace the classic stormtrooper helmet completely.
well the box around the weapons isn't too bad, maybe reduce the opacity a bit, but I feel that the boxes around the tooltips on the top, and around the reinforcement and health bars are unneeded. There are no borders on those things in the vanilla game, just change the text color to white, or some other color that stands out, but is not too in your face or something lol.
there is a way to leave it vanilla still right? I don't like the big blue boxes on everything, like the unofficial patch includes. It is distracting to me.
I rarely use them, as I think it is pointless to destroy planets. Probably been about 2 years since I used one lol. Can the first one not destroy ships?

Its been quite a few years since I have watched the original trilogy, but I still don't remember having giant X's on the top of the ISD's. Weird, why do I never notice these things?
am I just un-observant or what, but when did they add those Giant X things on top of star destroyer bridges everywhere? The look rather ugly imo. Just the lower bridge is ok, but the upper one that makes it look like an X is distracting, at least to me.

yea it does look pretty different, it looks longer, and like the bridge doesn't stick up as much, or it could just be the angle the picture is taken on.
ooh, I see it now, do those flaps on the sides open when it shoots its missiles in cannon? Because I have seen some victory models where those are open, then ones like this that are closed. IMO they look better closed but it would be cool if there was an animation for them to open when combat starts.

oh no, I was just wondering. Some mods like RAW make me lag at the main menu horribly, and I have a GTX 760 4gb....so I thought it was an engine issue.

just a little thing I don't like in some mods, when there are blue lasers, it confuses me, as I cannot tell what is Ion cannons or just normal lasers. one side green, one red, share blue for ion cannons it what makes the most sense to me

what makes them less accurate right now anyway? in the default game and most mods, infantry almost never miss anything.
I actually like the aspect that infantry will have more of a role than cannon fodder like in most other mods, heck infantry vs infantry fights would actually be interesting instead of tank vs tank. (still want the AI in GC fixed too so we have something to play while we wait for this :p)

Harrowers are smaller than Star destroyers and Providences? never would have guessed, probably as they have never been put next to each other for scaling before (that I have seen at least)

hah thats normally the exact same thing I do, except I may build the space station If I have a planet like raxus prime or something that gives salvage, so I can just defend in space and get some easy money by warding off attacks and get credits from the salvage of the attacking force, as I am usually good at defending space.
by the way, what ships will you get as a garrison for the respective station level?
Though if it is possible, it would be nice to have at least a map with I dunno..... 50+ planets in this era? but keeping it like you said with gateways, everyone starts with one central cluster. If not, its fine, just a suggestion for people like me that like long matches.

I do like very large GC matches, where you start out with a spot all to your own. How many planets will your maps have when done? That is why I love playing EOTH in Thrawns revenge, you have good, cool looking unique ships, start off with a small amount of planets all grouped together, and awesome space defenses. Then there are so many planets you can play for a long time before finishing. If I play my cards right I can finish a vanilla GC in just a few hours, while mods like TR take days. Hope this mod will be one of the longer ones
I will be playing knights primarily, and I am a major turtler. I always build up all the planets I have, fortify the border planets and max out everything I can before taking a new planet. Also, I will probably be a sith purist, and only build sith like ships and ground forces (unless I MUST use other ones) as I love the designs from that era.
true, maybe its just that I never really liked small craft like that without wings, they look weird without them IMO. oh well, probably won't be building much stuff (if any) from mon cal anyway.

Hmm that is interesting... never really thought about a mon cal specific fighter before, looks good now, but skinning it will be the hard part. the normal skins put on mon cal ships would look weird on a fighter.
I think they draw more attention to the lasers and make it look better, but that is just my opinion.

ah, so if it did not have all that extra stuff and was just the ships from these mods it would not lag nearly as bad? Makes sense. Explains why Thrawns Revenge is decent FPS most of the time, it does not have all the moving turrets and stuff

on a side note, when this mods for this game make my PC Lag a lot, is that because the engine cannot handle it, or is it a hardware problem? Like TORAW or RAW both lag horridly at the main menu, and my computer is mid range for a modern computer. So do you think its an engine problem, or are the ship polycounts and shadows so high my PC cannot handle it?
I meant as in, some mods for other games use their own sound files that are in .mp3, .wav or .ogg even though the original games files are different. What I mean by swapping out is like the mod has a track named Battle 1.ogg all I have to do is rename any music file I want to Battle 1 and make it .ogg and the game plays it like it would the original. I do that to all sorts of games, was wondering if it worked here.

As long as you are not making money or ripping models it is not illegal correct? I knew a few halo mods that got shut down by moddb staff for using all ripped assets.

damage wise sounds good, but huge clouds of fighters are rather annoying to me and make me lag, but whatever works. I always thought it was strange how tiny fighter lasers could damage a capital ships shields anyway, no matter how many of them you have lol.
so they wont launch all 10 at once? like 2 groups of fighters and 1 bomber per ship (except the CIS since they are fighter heavy) would make sense to me, maybe even 1 fighter/1 bomber at a time and as they die more get sent out until the total is depleted.

don't take this the wrong way but I think there are WAY too many fighters in this mod, I know others have a lot too, but for some reason its more apparent here. There are so many I can kill a station with the fighters and bombers before my ships even get there, they even take out the defending fleet on their own, making actual assault ships nearly useless (this is all as the knights btw) maybe consider toning down the initial wave of fighters, or maybe its just me

huh, I would have thought going 1v1 with an SSD would let it focus all its guns on 1 target instead of shooting at different ones, which would make it excellent against just 1 target.

I feel your pain with the swarming AI. Kinda why I stopped playing. Playing CIS and holding off 3 Republic fleets a galactic week/day of 2-7 venators 15+ acclamators and 10-20 of each frigate type plus all the fighters gets extremely annoying. I am not exaggerating, that is what happened to me. I can beat them off but it just takes 20+ min to do those battles, so thats an hour of battles like that in 1 galactic week/day. Not worth it Imo

But if these are all around better but just more expensive than the smaller ones, what stops people from just saving up for this one rather than the 418? Do they have separate abilities that make it worth having both in different situations?

Trying not to bring in a huge argument here, but personally I dont see anything wrong with the prequels, but I do understand why people hate the medichlorian (or however you spell it) explanation. If they would have just left that scene out, I think it would have taken a lot of the hate away.

I also really liked your music for nephilim I just have no idea where you found that music

what do you mean still diplomacy level? If I load up diplomacy with the latest version of your mod for that, all the ships are still super shiny so you can barely see the texture besides the base color, now they look amazing and barely shine at all

i think they just mean that since rebellion includes diplomacy stuff, that if you get high enough reputation with another empire they will send support ships to help you sometimes. that is my guess, dont know if they are making a more advanced support system

But a thing for heroes I do remember a few missions that you had to go kill ships from another faction that had specific names,their own description, and a huge bounty. But thats the only thing I could think of unless I completely make something up. Maybe the people from the pictures of the militia page?

the zombie race, (forget actual name now :p) they build capital ships like mad, they normally have all their capital ships in one or two fleets. they beat the crap out of the other npc's fleets and are quite a nusance for me because they keep running away, and I only get one or two before they get away.

yea, I didn't mean rome II lol, just been playing that recently. I was doing it on Rome I, was a typo
so I installed it correctly following the readme (even put the new fmv video in which worked) but for some reason, even with the folders in the right spot and the launch command in steam, the game launches, but when you select imperial campaign, it is just the normal Rome II factions. Can someone help?
its a shuttle, and this one doesn't even have guns on it like the alliance one from ME3, so I doubt its a fighter. Dunno what it will do.

Burn them all seems to be very warbbly for some reason, but since it is from the dominion trailer, did you attempt to get the whole track from the video and just use audacity to remove the voice? That usually degrades quality a lot.
I think I looked through them all, but I may have missed them, but did you add Green Nebula, Red Glowing Dust, Home at last, miner stories, or Smoke from Down Below? those are some of my favorites, and would make the slow empire management parts more peaceful
strange, my old PC was a dual 3.0ghz processor with only a integrated video card. I bought a dedicated video card (Only a GT 430, much better than nothing) and that sent me over 60 FPS, where the videos of the EVE mod I have on youtube were only 20-30fps and that was before my graphics card.
huh, back when I had my old PC and I without a graphics card, and then I installed one, I could have sworn my FPS increased a good measure.

you know what I just noticed? I got bored and was watching the TGN Top 10 RTS games, and one was sins rebellion. They mentioned an active modding community and listed several mods like star Treck, SOTP, and Sins of New Eden! They actually mentioned you guys :D That was September of 13 though lol.
I have seen other mods with multiple people marked as creator, so I assumed there was a way to do it.
As I said, I only played a few early hours as it was close to the holidays and with work and such going on I have been doing other things or playing other games in free time, and I only got several of the first few capships and I just noticed their shields and armor go down MUCH faster than vanilla capships.
I been playing a LOT of different games, bought a 3DS, my first handheld nintendo since the Advance SP, and been playing the pokemon remakes among other things.

Hey its MassDownloader! Its been a while! What have you been up to lately?
I have played a decent amount and I had no crashes, but that is probably because I LAA'd the sins.exe months ago for other mods.
Gameplay wise, this is rather refreshing. Since I have played so much vanilla, and so many mods I have gotten rather lazy in my gameplay style. Usually sacrifice all early resources for 3 capships (one being colony) and steamroll planets and rapidly grow my empire, building all 16 capships before even one frigate usually. Then fortifying the star and surrounding planets, where no AI fleets can get past me. I usually just put most of the capship abilities on autocast too.
Here you cannot do that. There is much more micro'ing to do, and capships aren't all powerful, and can still die to frigates rather easily. Have not built any major defenses yet, but I can tell already, this is going to be a different experience than most other mods just in the way the capships don't dominate the field and how much more micro management there is to do.
Great progress in just the few weeks you guys picked this up in, its amazing and I can't wait to play more and continue to provide feedback :D
Very nice, adds a lot of atmosphere to bases instead of them just sitting there. Gonna have something like a practice range next to the barracks or something?
I can't recall what planet it was so it probably won't be much help, but I just moved my fleet to a planet as Omega and it just crashed, before I even had a loading screen, just right when they went into the slot above the planet.
know this is late, but honestly, the Colored buttons looked better, made it easier to differentiate between which ones are which. All of them being blue annoys the crap out of me, especially when I know how it used to look. If someone new played it, they probably wouldn't have too much of an issue.

Will the Mandelorians have a defiler like unit? I could never play vanilla FOC against the Consortium because they would destroy buildings of mine ALL THE TIME. I am talking like up to 5 in a galactic day. Its more annoying than cool, at least for the factions fighting them

well the base troop is tan, but I could have sworn the upgrade troops were green with the red star on the chest, and I assumed you were changing them all to be this tan color

Oh, cool. I remember your ORAW had custom music in it, which is actually fine and pretty cool, because the old republic never had really any good battle music and stuff.
If I remember right a comment or one of your old videos actually introduced me to Sabaton, and for that I am grateful. They are one of my favorite bands now.
Its looking great, but as you said about the missile trails, they don't particularly look like missiles to me. When I think of missiles, I think orange, yellow, or white, not really blue.
And I like Sabaton music a lot too, but if this is supposed to be just upgrading the vanilla game, shouldn't it just use the normal star wars music? Not complaining, I like the songs personally, I just don't think they fit well. Though I am a stickler for that stuff.

Its awesome we are finally getting an old republic and sith empire in a sins mod! I remember how you kept saying you didn't want to do it because the technology difference in canon and the old era ships would stand no chance against the new ones. That may be true, but thank you for balancing them anyway.
So no more dedicated fighter/bomber harrower? The cool one with the red lights? Oh well, having a fleet of harrowers leviathans and such will still be awesome.

Sad they are so weak compared to SDs, if i had my way they would be even, if not better. They just look more intimidating, and look like they can carry more guns. Though, you are probably right as they had to be retrofitted and are old designs to begin with.

Exactly....I am very torn lol, I like having versatility and ability to make more ships on the fly and having sight of my enemy, but just having the raw firepower would also be great. If you produce ships from the station during a battle, will they stay in the fleet at GC? Or stay as a reinforcement unit when another battle in that system starts like TR? or will they just go away?
nearby as in one planet adjacent to the one its built in? if so, this is a really hard decision. Could put it at a choke point for extra reinforcements and being able to see enemy planets on the other side and from beginning of battle, or just have a crapton of firepower and a few reinforcements. Man, you made these one of the hardest things I have to decide between than any other mod has lol.
Hmm lots of reinforcements but weaker station, or strong station, but less reinforcing ships....choices choices....
also, does this actually give sight to enemy planets near ones you have these built on?
The compass thing shows other players? Not sure if I like that, I try to hide myself and my base as much as possible to avoid greifing and stealing in multiplayer, and with that they would be able to find you right away.
Does the compass show logged out people too?

halo 2 was my favorite aesthetically and in the one I played multi in the most. I am completely against remakes most of the time, but it should be interesting to see. from the footage at E3, sounds like the grunts are still using the voices from Halo 2 as well, I love lines they say. Halo 3+ grunts are boring and ugly (Imo)
I would still like a release of knights, the current one is extremely boring since the AI does not fight back at all. Even if it is a bit buggy (as long as it is stable) I would take anything at this point lol

so if i kept all the factions from the previous version you put out what is changed in this version besides compatiblilty with the DLC? also I sort of wish you would have let me know ahead of time because i found out where it plays the music and I wanted the files I gave you re numbered so I could have given them back to you. apparently it likes to play the first 2 tracks when in small combat such as fighting milita, and the second 2 are for idle. the way i had it when i gave them to you was randomly numbered, so it played higher tempo combat music during idle time, and quiet music when in a fight. I can get them to you if you want.

I don't have the dlc yet, so I don't know how you enable it, will it be a thing you can enable/disable in the mods screen or something? my main concern is if I have the DLC and a friend does not, and we go to play a mod like this one that is compatible with it and will use it but not be required, will my friend be able to play with me still? (hope that is not too confusing)
Those effect settings seem to let you go much higher than before. I thought they used to be lower. good thing you fixed the random minidumps, I would get pretty far in a game and have it randomly crash. also, did you get a chance to fix the galaxy files differing from host error on multiplayer?

if its a predermined map from the list, no. at least I dont think so. I know they are not affiliated with SOGE, but in thier star wars universe all the planets are named appropriately as long as you choose the star wars map from the list. this I think is a good size, compared to thier large map which has 500 planets :p
so just wondering, what made you change your mind and work on this some more? not that I want you to stop :p

What did you use to record your video and compress it? Fraps leavs a logo, and Xfire's sizes are huge. And only windows movie maker to render it....

cool, sounds nice. will they be on the appropriate stars? (gold sun on gold sky, blue sun on blue sky ect) but like I said, anything is better than default. the default skyboxes dont even work in the previous version, the structures would just glow the color of that sun.
If only the skyboxes would look as good as the EVE trinity trailer, but I know its not possible.....

In maelstrom there are planets that have animations besides just the rotation of the planet. Wish someone coulc figure out how to make turrets and ships have their own animations.
If he was paired with cheif they would have to be on the UNSC side, but I think they should be seperate because in halo 2 they didnt work together until the end. so unless you are going to have an ingame timescale that makes elites come to UNSC at some point I would keep them seperate.
I think he just changed the gun to match the armor color, I thought it was pretty stupid to have two of almost the same gun in halo 2, the brute one just shot faster and overheated faster.
so this Is going to have the one big turret from halo 3? those two small turrets that were automatic that were on each side of the front from halo 2 were cool too, but its your decision
hmm AI can be strange picking what it wants to be good at. Maybe the plague corrupted the AI making it work better for them but worse for the others >:)
