There is a demo: Skynations.net
Since the games player base is only small it will flag as a false positive some Antiviruses which simply check if other people have it. It is not a virus. Just add it to the allow list in your software.
Seems to work for everyone without any error reports. Could you email me the error from windows event viewer at ben@skynations.net?
There won't be a singleplayer mode. Almost all the game is geared towards multiple players. You can however play on a server by yourself if you set it up locally.
Download the latest version from the website at Skynations.net and make sure you don't have a firewall blocking the game. Also make sure you have the required runtimes installed.
Trees are incredibly common. You can also grow them with a log on dirt. You can also just uncheck the bing option when installing DirectX.
It's probably best to post your suggestions on the websites forum. Like I've said to a few people, next update ships will not be visible if all their thrusters are turned off on Radar.
You can download the demo from the website: Skynations.net
Make sure you have the required runtimes installed from the download page.
The crew requirements are intended to encourage you and balance larger ships rather than having one player control a giant ship. The game is a lot about interaction and teamwork between players.
You can fly in the ships you build. You can try the demo if you're unsure your computer will run it at: Skynations.net
There are a few weapons planned that will fire vertically. To help defend against players dropping down onto your ships.
I'm currently working on a limited demo which will be released in the near future.
The update button is on the bottom of the login screen. Next to the wiki and skin buttons.
I'm hoping to eventually have a Mac and Linux port. I'm waiting for some changes in the API Sky Nations will use for those platforms.
The game is about building airships and using them to explore and battle with other players. It might be more beneficial to read the website and ask on the forums if you'd like to know abit more about the game.
Sounds like you're on a slow connection or a slow server. Does this happen on the Official Server? Give it a few minutes and let it load if this is the case.
Due to the type of game it is it's not really possible to provide a cut down version of the game for trials.
Thanks Brandon! You are correct, there will not be a F2P version.
There is a official server, to make sure theres always somewhere to play. But players can download and host their own server. The server can be set to private so it does not appear in the server list so you can play with your friends. There will be other weapons both for players and different kinds of weapons for ships.
Ships have a central weak point called an Energy Well. It is in the middle of your ship and it's best to build around it to keep it protected. You can destroy a ship completely by destroying it. However you can also disable ships by destroying it's thrusters or power sources so it can no longer move or fight back. Damage is done to the ship per block i.e. A cannon ball hit damages the blocks in the wall it hits. Block damage is persistant and can be repaired with tools. Depending on your intentions you know you've won when you've disabled or totally destroyed your targets ship. Or the players have surrendered.
Hope that answered your questions!
I plan on multiple platform release in the future. For Mac and Linux desktops. I'm still waiting for some things to fall in place for that though.
Glad you got it sorted, if you experience any bugs it is best to post them on the forums. Community.skynations.net
The core gamplay is quite a bit different to Minecraft. The majority of your time is spent on your ship, sailing, finding machines, weapons and other such things for it as well as building onto it. I've never used "ship mod". But the world generation is also massively different with quite a few different large scale structures generated . It is primarily PVP with a bit more depth than clicking to swing swords. Especially ship PVP where a lot of design can go into it. In the future their will be a nations system allowing players to capture islands and ships and do a lot more things together within their group. If your looking for a Minecraft experience of simply just building things, this probably isn't it(not that there is anything wrong with that).
The desura version is out of date: Get.skynations.net for latest version.
You can craft an item kit which will allow you to use the item sculpter by selecting it and left clicking. The recipe is here: Wiki.skynations.net
