Then you'd be wrong. The average Indie title price is 14.99$ to 19.99, actually.

As for 7 Days to Die, it offers much more content. As for Nether, it's 19$ as well.

And do the sales mean anything? I don't see why you brought them up. Has nothing to do with the people who see DayZ and believe it can do no wrong.

I almost hate the DayZ community, despite loving the game, because they will forgive anything, that for most developers, they'd be tearing their eyes out.

Also, this isn't an Indie game. I don't know why you said that. This is by Bohemia, Rocket has a full team, support, funding, it is shameful for what he has now.

Of course you wouldn't get the outdated department...because you think I meant graphics. I mean the Engine itself, which has **** poor multi-threading performance, forcing most things to one core and not spreading evenly, it is based on an out-dated Engine from 2001.

If he had chosen an entirely new Engine, and everything was built from scratch, I'd agree on the price and time to develop. But he hasn't.

So it will be 50$ on release?

The same price as ArmA3, but with a weaker engine, less content, and re-used content from the free mod? ArmA3 was 26$ on sale for it's Alpha. Yours is a mod using an outdated Engine, that you are selling, you added some HDR, it has less features than the mod, less content than the mod.

And what's that? It's not due out til Mid 2015?(Not even leaving Alpha for OVER a year.)

I'll wait for a large sale. It should've gone 10$ Alpha, 20$ Beta, 30$ release.

There's also that one Horror mod, which had a trailed over a year ago and has had no content since then.

As for a fighting game? Survival? We're talking still using the same content...they hardly made mods, they just added new game modes, which as developers is pretty easy to do when the content is already there.

I bought this game in 2010, loved the first NS1, had bee playing since 2004, and bought it thinking "Wow, it's going to be amazing watching this improve."

So, 2012 rolled around, and they said release was soon. Confused me. Because from 2010 to 2012, little had changed. It still seemed nearly incomplete. I imagined they must have some huge content patch they had been working on, and planned for release. Release came, it was pretty much the same thing we'd had for the last two years. Still buggy, still unbalanced. They said all this could wait til post release.

I realize they have funding issues, and that they are Indie. The #1 reason they built their own Engine, they said, was for Dynamic Infestation, a feature that is still, a year after release almost, recommended to turn off, because it "doesn't work quite right", and causes alot of issues. They should have stuck with Source, finished NS2, reaped the profits, then used those profits to start building their own Engine, without issues of funding, and NS3 could be their own game. They jumped the boat.

During the Steam summer sale, the game was heavily discounted. Naturally, one could expect a population boom, as we always see...yet NS2 saw a population drop, even during a Steam summer sale. It rose for a day or two, but is now going to soon be less than pre-sale.

I think something like that shows a huge issue. NS2 had a ton of hype...and a great premise...and's going to have less than an average of 500 players very soon...a year from now? two? NS1 will have more players soon. They touted mod support another reason for their new engine, allowing easier mods than Source...yet we're a year post release, and while I don't expect huge mods already, we've not seen any promising ones even pop up.

If the Netcode was good, it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

But, Skulks have a 120 degree wide cone in front of them < like this, anything in that chits, so they don't even have to aim, they can infact be attacking next to a Marine and still hit. At all tech tiers, Skulks can 2 hit Marines usually, 3 later on with armor upgrades. They attack super faster, no delay, and their movement speed is insane...coupled with poor netcode.

In contrast, Marines have their default SMG...which takes 10 direct hits to kill a skulk...the SMG fires in a straight line, with no recoil or spread...which would be ideal in real life, in a game with poor netcode like this...basically, you have to have perfect accuracy with the SMG to kill anything with it...while an Aliens skulk can kill your 70 resource Heavy armor like a total joke. ALl they have to do is run in a circle and due to the netcode, you'll likely never hit them, even if you predict their movements. So a 0 resource Alien creature can beat a 70 resource Marine unit, with ease...

Yet a Marines default unique cannot beat most Alien units...then we get Fades, then Onos...which it's just dumb when you consider how powerful an Onos is to a mech.

A Onos can take 10-15 seconds of being punished, even with shotguns, and GL, while killing structures and other units.

While, a much more expensive to get to unit, our Mechs, will die in 2-3 hits from an Onos, while even Mechs using up all their weapons til they over-heat, or even have an advantage of an entire hallway. I've had 2 mechs firing at an Onos, and that one Onos beats them both, even though all hits hit, for 30 seconds.

Marines still lose 3 to 1, and you nerf us more?

I swear the devs are just like "Official statistics show Marines losing 3 to 1, but the forum whiners say Aliens are weak and Marines are OP...lets nerf Marines."

As if needing to hold down the Flamethrower on a skulk for 5s wasn't already stupidly long(Considering he can still 2hit you while you do this), you made it weaker?

Two full Mini-guns fired until over-loaded at an onos will just get rid of it's armor...and you make them weaker? When One Onos can take on two more expensive Exos?

I agree, the amount of people whom bitch at this mod "Oh, the custom models suck, this mod sucks, the new models ruin the art style!"

I tell them they are completely optional and they just kinda go indifferent after that.

It's really sad. I've played through HL2 and it's episodes half a dozen times, and a few of those with your mod...and it really makes the experience come alive again.

The new music is good, some of the new models are ok, some of the new Combine / Citizens, some of the Kleiner models, and there was one, Alyx model, in like CM10, that got removed, that was an Alyx HD Mesh hybrid or something, that looked just like the default Alyx, but super high resolution and detailed, like she was remade in Crysis or something. Sadly it was removed, but I always wanted to find it again.

Thanks for keeping this up man. Really, there are people out there who DO appreciate it.

Logitech is awesome, their support that is, here is why:

1. My mouse feet were worn down, I wanted replacements. They were like 99 cents on ebay + 3-4$ shipping.

2. I decide to contact Logitech about the matter.

3. Logitech says they can't sell me replacement feet. I complain and ask why they can't just stuff some in an envelope and stuff a stamp on it. :P

4. They send me a brand new in box replacement mouse. My mouse is a G9x, by no means a generic 12$ mouse. 60-70$.

5. I now have two G9x mice. Even with the worn feet on the other...still usable.

6. Logitech didn't want the old mouse, as mentioned above, nor did they ask me to cover shipping, I didn't even provide proof of purchase. All I did was provide my Product's SN.

7. That is why Logitech is awesome and good on them for this Tournament.

Uh...dude. I know about SLI, I know about computers.

Single GPU or multiple, this issue persists. SLI has come along way from what I used to be.

It's not on my end.

If you SHOULD indeed play it, then you would see. Granted, they still have to the 31st...but seriously. If you check their forums, people with like a 7970's and such can barely play the game.

I will try emailing the engine programmer, but I am not so well versed as he, I imagine, I could tell him very little.

Also Scuba, this game uses alot more advanced effects than Borderlands 2. It's more intense regardless of optimization.

But my issue is the maps are smaller than Counter-Strike maps, the graphics look good, like a PC game should infact, but let me be perfectly honest - Metro 2033 runs better than this, and that is saying alot, considering what a mess that game is, performance wise.

I can forgive this quite abit though, due to their small time and yes, crazy idea that they should create a Triple AAA Engine without the funds to do so. :P

Not to mention, server performance affects YOUR performance, which I have NEVER seen in another game. For example, say you go to a high end server run on the best possible rig - Your FPS will be alright

But say someone is hosting on a slightly aged rig - which should completely be capable of hosting a dedicated server; your FPS suffers because the server. I have never seen that in any other online game.

And alot of not run well. You have to restart them every 3 hours or even the best of them just end ups low and laggy.

I know it sounds insulting, but I can't imagine this game is ready for release by the end of the month.

The UI for players has improved alot, but the menu layout and UI is still archaic.

In buils 194 / 195,I had 100+ FPS at any settings. With a Q6600 @ 3.4GHZ and a GTX470.

Alot of builds ago. But the graphics have not improved much.

Now with 670 SLi and a 2500K @ 4.5GHZ, I get less than 40FPS, the majority of the time, hovering around 50FPS...AND the sound is ****** up. All my speakers, since the latest build, have sound channels reversed. No option I've found in the settings can help.

I'm sorry, but the game looks nice, but around 2008-2009ish. I realize you're indie and you made the Engine from scratch

But regularly my CPU usage sits around 30-40% and GPU around 50-60%, while I have as low as 30FPS. This is even if I lower the resolution, and graphics setting, my FPS barley raises a few FPS.

Infact, when I lower them, my GPU usage does go down to around 10%, but performance stays nearly the same. This has been across two formats, two full re-downloads, and multiple driver changes of which I cleaned thoroughly.

Clearly optimization is needed, heavily. This could break the game.

Red Orchestra 2, on release, had terrible performance. But 6 months of patches and bam, systems that could not run it before, now can @ medium with 40-50FPS. And that's UE3.0! Known for optimization!

So I'm just saying guys...I know you wanna keep the release date...but is it worth potentially destroying the game?

Next Monday I plan to take it out for some plinking. I'd like to get a scope on it, but I'd have to find a gun smith, I don't want to use a long eye relief scope with this.

Also got some stripper clips, a ammo satchel, and all the good tools. I am removing the steel butt stock in place of a rubber one though, they kick like a mule, supposedly, big round though, bigger than .308

You can get them so cheap! Mine was 149$, but a few months before that, they were 120, before that, as low as 80$.

If you turn this game down to it's lowest, it looks uglier than the HL1 version of NS1, and yet still performs very bad.

Tons of game websites, review sites, their forums were a mess...barely anyone played a month post release, until the recent sale / huge update, it was averaging under 500 players. Not very good for a game not even a year old; alot more now, but still, first impressions.

I love RO2, though you probably couldn't tell by that comment I just made. Just needed another 6 months and now that it has had it, it's pretty solid.

No, it's not a frame junkie.

The problem is the game is not smooth. It is jerky, and buggy, and Aliens are winning not just due to OP, but due to poor server and client performance.

MArines need to aim to hit. Aliens have a wide cone where their melee can hit, so even in low FPS, or if the server is lagging, they can still kill you, infact easier, since you can't hit them.

The thing is, performance was gradually getting better; now it's going in the -reverse-, I have a problem with that, is all.

Doesn't matter if it has tons of unique features if no one can play it, or won't stomach the poor performance.

Right now I would put the game in a early beta, 3 months from release...from a full fledged studio. However, Unknown Worlds is not, and they only have a handful, 4 people, last I checked, may have increased to 6, I think I read, not sure, but not alot of people...

So those 3 months for a large company...well..I'd say, I'm not optimistic about the summer release they talked about.

Performance should easily be double, and with some optimization, triple, what it is.

Most are 60HZ, LCD's that is, but on older CRT's, alot went up to 140hz, at lower resolutions, though some had good refresh rates even at higher resolutions.

These new 120HZ LCD / LED's are pretty good; if you've seen one in motion, it's almost CRT like. But still not there.

This is one of the best pictures to describe how higher refresh rates, alongside frame rates, can help.

This is a demo running in a 360 degree circle, capturing the blur on a LCD, a 120HZ, and a CRT monitor.

CRT is still king, though OLED looks promising.

And trust me; gaming @ 60FPS seems wonderful, but if you ever game on a monitor that has say, a 100HZ Refresh rate, and play at around 85FPS...then you will know incredible smoothness and fluidity.

I've disliked LCD's ever since I switched to one...but I had little choice in these modern times; the FW900 from Sony is still very expensive, though sexy...

Are you joking?

Those old myths are long gone. We see in light, not in frames, we can see the difference up to 200+ FPS, some studies have shown, if your eyes adjust.

The difference between 45FPS & 60FPs is very obvious to anyone not dead or half blind.

About 85FPS is where it becomes buttery smooth to me in video games, any higher is hard for me to notice, but several people in scientific studies have shown to be capable to notice up to 200FPS.

Listen, I'm going to list my PC specs in full, and this isn't bragging, but it's to show that a PC like mine has very poor performance:

Core i5 2500K @ 4.5GHZ
128GB Samsung 830 SSD
GTX670 @ 1282mhz core / 6900mhz memory
Windows 7 64-bit
850w PSU

Not a super high end system by any means, but still, a decently powerful rig, better than average, I'd say, and if my system can't maintain a decent FPS; what hope do many people with aging rigs have?

Mkilbride Jun 15 2012, 5:37pm replied:

I know graphics are not everything.

What I am saying is, not half my CPU or GPU is being used, and I am getting sub 60FPS, oft lower than 40 at some points.

The thing is, previous builds ran better, the last few, performance has been -decreasing-, which was supposed to be top priority, then they'd add game features.

Most fans of Natural Selection are older gamers who played Half-Life and it's mods, like myself, and find it just disappointing.

+2 votes   media: Docking Station Reveal
Mkilbride Jun 15 2012, 5:43am says:

But I have to ask you guys, though this not be the place;

What happened to performance?

Just a few builds ago, I was averaging 70-80FPS, even on a full server.

Now, I'm getting under 60, usually around 40-44FPS - And this is with a new GTX670, which so far, has doubled my FPS in all other games. My previous GTX470, was actually faster, last time I played NS2, that is, which is say, maybe two months ago, at most.

I average about 20% CPU usage and 30-40% GPU usage. This is due to release this year, right? But it seems you've somehow made performance worse.

Other than that, everything else is gravy. You've made much needed changes.

But performance on, well, I won't call my system "Top of the line", but definitely higher end than the majority of users, can't maintain 60FPS, with a game that, no offense, doesn't have tat great of graphics?

It has a wonderful art style; but graphics wise, it is nothing to spectacular.

Hmm, I kind of like'll be easier to allow you to know when the enemy will be coming, which is vital.

Alot of Alien players might not.

Don't know how I feel about Clogs. Seem really cool and had nice vibe.

From a gameplay standpoint though, they sound incredibly over-powered, especially considering how small and tight the maps are already and that Marines have trouble traversing even without Clogs.

But honestly right now, with Aliens winning 80% of matches, it's obvious something needs to be done.

Doubt we'll ever see 50 / 50, but I would be happy if we could get least get 60 / 40. :P

Really looking forward to see how you guys will have this ready for release this year. Lots of nice updates lately, incredible speed up from the usual.

However...from it's current state, I feel like this year is way to optimistic, unless you've decided to take the whole "Well fix it after release" approach, most developers have these days.

Performance is still nowhere near where it needs to be. If they even -think- of releasing it with current performance levels, it will do unrepairable damage to the game.

Even if you got that GTX680 and Sandy-Bridge E 6 core's @ 5GHZ, you're likely to dip to 30 FPS and under at times on 2008 graphics and maps smaller than Counter-Strike.

Needs massive performance upgrades.

CryEngine 3 is a crippled version for the sake of consoles. Key technical features were left out.

Go look at the DX11 tess shots, they aren't good, I'll tell you that, they tesselate everything, even posters.

Listen, the developers themselves have stated CE3 is a specialized version of the Engine designed to run on consoles. Unless a Engine is built from the GROUND up to support DX11, it will always be tacked on and not properly used, as you can see in Crysis 2 PC, with the DX11 patch.

Maybe make the tinder boxes more modern? Seems weird to see those around with the modern facility. You know, a match box or something.

Old flashlight was better, this one illuminates way to little, it's actually unrealistic. IF Night VIsion has been remove,d at least make the flashlight believable.

Also, please do not make batteries die insanely fast. One thing I hate about some games is how you find batteries and they only last for 2 minutes.

Give them 5-10 minutes at the least. It's kinda weird for the experience for the Flashlight to constantly die...I mean even the cheapest 1$ Flashlights last 12 hours with a single pair of batteries. I understand it's for fear, making you converse the flashlight, but it does nothing but ruin the experience for me.

I don't see any banding in the flash-light like the previous videos, i.e, the rings. The quality of light it is putting out is unrealistic.

For an example of banding:

The light should be "dirty" also, with very light dark splotches in the light. Tell you what, fire up a flashlight and look at it, is it a solid light like what you've just down?

Maybe a brand new, high tech, high grade one, but this one has been rotting in a building it seems, so naturally it would have wear in tear.

The center of the flash light should be the brightest, with the rings generally getting lighter as it goes out for a more realistic effect.

Hmm, perhaps also in dusty areas, we can see air particles with the flash-light, it adds immense atmosphere.

Yes, it's one problem in Age of Chivalry, and many games. You swing and go towards the player, but the attack starts when you click, it doesn't follow the animation. So even though you can see the axe slice a guy down his face, you missed.

When I use a two handed sword, I often click then run at the enemy, so the blade comes down on them as I reach them, so I can attack faster that way...but due to the system...I missed. It sucks.

SO far this makes me think first person Assassins Creed.

Thing is, the Flashlight is great, but having to hold it with your hand like that is a pain...I think Penumbra handled it well you know. I get what you're going for here, but it kills atmosphere in my opinion to have to hold down a mouse button and physically see the flashlight out in front of you.

It looks weird, and forced, the way you hold it, even in Amnesia, you held the lantern up close with your hand.

Well, I'd say **** them.

I mean honestly, these modelers release their stuff to the net "Don't USE!"

You put it out on the net for anyone to use, going to happen. You could try to get permission, but I've always thought that permission thing was ********.

Once you put out something like on the net for free, it no longer belongs to you. Also, your mods aren't commercial, so it's not like you're making money.

You make awesome mods dude, I really enjoy them. Keep making them, but I understand if you don't want to.

The mod community these days are horrible. Way back when people used to just let people use their models, sounds, whatever, as long as credits were given, or even if not.

They're so anal today because of the potential to go Indie from a good mod being done.

Your English is better than many people who speak it natively, also. People so far have translated your work, so I don't think it's an issue.

Comatose was awesome. Don't let a few jerkoffs who get on their high horses because of stupid stuff. UnderHell is another mod where he had no programmer, no modeler, it was just him, using SMOD as a base, plus models off FPS Banana, and it was one of the best mods I've ever played.

Give credit where credit is due, is all that is asked from any GOOD modeler, or music artist.

Good article besides that. They admit GoldSrc's base was Quake 1, no big deal, why wouldn't they admit that about Source?

They have denied time and time again it is a heavily tweaked version of GoldSource. They say almost nothing remains. It is literally 99% rebuilt, with a few tid bits left over, which most Engines do.

Of course quite a few mods are coming quite close to doing that, ESF, Cry of Fear, and Arrangement most notably.

Grabbing the Sound track Tom, great job, but I say you should compose a few more tracks and sell them over at CD Baby. I know you didn't do it for the money, but these are beyond normal mod music tracks. These are professional.

Also, guys, to note, your House will be reset when you install this patch, so what you do is hit Continue, it'll start the game from when you first start in the house, this is normal, walk around until "Saved" appears, then go and reload the dual pistols save near the end of the game, beat again(Press Enter to skip cutscenes), then you'll be in the house, but you have to re-do all the stuff, but since you know how to do it this time...

Perhaps put NV Goggles in as a Upgrade like Flares ,make it like R2, you get them after-flares.

That'd be epic, way to many games totally ignore NV these days. Also, don't chime in on it's not realistic to have them; quite a few CODMW2 maniacs have them, quite a few gun nuts in general have em.

Also, you guys have a AK47 in the game, while common these days, no more common than Night Vision. Just make it a expensive upgrade.

And yes, there is something wrong with limiting guns. It's frustrating, not fun. Do you know how many times I've played ZP & ZP:S and everyone takes every gun, you're left with nothing, or a melee weapon? you're screwed!

You have 20 humans, and 5 guns, and 99 Zombies. NOT COOL. It's ANNOYING. The most played maps on ZP:S are all custom maps...which oddly enough, all have nearly unlimited guns & ammo. Seems people don't really like it^^

I kinda agree. In the old one, it only took like 4-6 hits to die. In 2.0, so far, it took me almost 30 to die. What the hell happened there? Was it a one time glitch? Cause I had alot of enemies constantly bashing me and I would not die.

New Ammo System is also kinda annoying. I didn't know you'd respawn either...that's so lame. It removes all of the creep factor. I only played for 7 minutes and liked most of the changes, but didn't know about the Respawn mode. I also think the current amount of Health you get is to much! I had 3 of those guys who spit fire breath it on me for like 10 seconds and it didn't kill me. In the old one, just one of them killed me if I let one get close.

Overall, great job, but you lost the horror feel. Now it's more like L4D with runnin' and gunnin'. I love L4D, but I like a little variety in meh Zombie games.(Or Demons, whatever)

Ok, let me correct that. Small "ACTIVE" Playerbase. I know it sold well, but usually not more than a few hundred playing UT3 at any given time. IF the games community is that large, I mean it's not like they'll all shift to this mod(even though it's awesome).

Once it goes retail, and it will, it'll probably balance a nice 1000 playerbase. Most UE mods to go retail average around that.

+1 vote   article: The Haunted v2.0 Impressions

It'll probably get on the Shelves like "Killing Floor", it has that quality.

I imagine the mod will never have to many people playing, due to UT3's small playerbase, but like most UT Engine based mods, eventually hits the shelves.

The quality is very intense in this mod. I agree on that. It's pretty fun, but nothing unique.(Yet)

I'd probably buy it if it went retail and had a full SP(doubtful) and some interesting MP, like maybe Survivors can do base buildings.

Played a lil bit the other day. You guys have to buy it. It's absolutely amazing. It renders large open areas which most people believe Source can't do well...but I suffer no performance issues in this.

As said, the Art Direction really shows how awesome Source can be.

Gameplay is pretty damn fun, I can imagine many more games trying to adapt more gameplay like this, made me think Butchers Bay.

Story so far seems epic on a scale rarely seen in most games these days. Technically, it's not their first game though, they released some for the Atari back in

Overall, I hope they'll continue and this will inspire other professional Teams to try out Source and not call it "Outdated", and "Overly complicated"

I've been seeing alot of Source based Retail games lately, and I say, it's ABOUT DAMN TIME. It's taken far to long for third party developers to really start chugging out Source games.

You should ALL try this, I didn't have any expectations, but as a rule of the thumb, I try out all Source based games, and like most, it rocks.

Also, are you seriously trying to say Fileplanet is some forefront of the gaming community, and that it can make or break something? Pretty damn arrogant.

Fileplanet is usually behind the times if I ever saw anything. They usually have files that have been on other sites for a week or more just show up.

Why isn't it satisfactory to just release it on all sites at the same time? It can be on Fileplanet and others, that's basically what I said, and I am asking, why do you want Fileplanet to have it before anyone that you guys will receive more attention and people would be FORCED to use you.

I'm one of the people who actually DEFEND Fileplanet against my friends. "It's not as bad as you all say it is.", I've said that so many times. I use it all the time, but releasing it as an EXCLUSIVE to Fileplanet for ANY degree of time only benefits you alone.

Ricecrispi has basically been saying that releasing it on Fileplanet alone, albeit, not forever, but for a short amount of time will be good for it...I can't see how it benefits the maker of this mod. It limits the audience and possible viewers.

Just imagine, release day. It's on Fileplanet, FileFront, Fileshack, WHATEVER GOD DAMNED SITE YOU WANT. Just don't limit it to one site on launch. You'll regret it.

Uh, yeah, no.

I use FilePlanet all the time, unlike others, I don't have much issues with it, it's good for Mod PR and even if they're slow downloads, they're reliable, that's for sure.

Though I'll agree 100% with everyone else here, FileFront is better, any site is really better, being Exclusive is NOT looking out for their best interest. It's looking out for FILEPLANETS BEST INTERESTS AND NOT THE MODS. Blatant lies you are telling, my friend. Exclusive on Fileplanet is only good for ONE party.(You)

Like the dev said, I hope he can reconsider. Decadence, aside from it's other faults, suffered from being exclusive to Fileplanet for like 2-3 days, which in all honesty, hurt what it could do.(Throw in it's other bugs, and you've got a plan for disaster)

Wider-audience? How the HELL is it a wider audience if it's Exclusive? Why not release it on Fileplanet AND other sites, then it'll reach a even WIDER audience and help the mod developer out MORE. IF you TRULY wanted to help them, you'd understand that.

Hope everyone that bought the OST is enjoying it. I'm sure Ed Harrison really appreciates the support.

We're steadily attacking the last few things needed to be done before release, as well as ramping up our playtesting with larger player counts. 32 player NT is fun, but it's looking more like a game that's better somewhere near 16-20 (or 8v8, 10v10, etc.)

We have 20 maps ready to go, but have decided on 10 for first release, maybe 11. The rest of the maps will be released with whatever patching needs to be done in the weeks after that. (bug fixing, fixing exploits, etc..) Big thanks to the ZPS testers, TDR testers, and all the people from the forums and IRC that have jumped in to help fill player numbers, it's very much appreciated.

Thanks. I just mean, it's bad enough some mods are ripping models and even animations from other mods(Zombie Mod), but they're mostly going unnoticed by the community at large. DBD is gaining a large amount of interest and people are constantly praising him for work that he did not do, and even the way he presents his stolen work is sub-par...

The only reason it's so freaking popular is because L4D has grown stale due to waiting for updates and whatnot for so long, so people just want anything that's half decent. I can't understand how people could even enjoy something like that, I mean sure, it'd be cool to play those old movies, but the whole time, I'd be thinking "Stolen work", and find it not fun due to that. It's just how I am.

Uh, I'm a huge fan of NT, and a fan of a BMS, but uh, you see, BMS could not win or even rank in the contest due to winning previously and no major updates released. Many speculations place it as winning #1, merely due to the trailer.(IT was also said the number of votes for it would never be released, pretty suspicious to add onto that, so most consider it the unofficial first)

Also, they've both been in development for around the same amount of time...and both are *supposed* to be released sometime in 2009, I think that says pretty well on how high quality both are.

You can put out your official projections that it's 50 / 50 Aliens & Marines wins and losses, but that is not the reality I see in game. I join dozens of servers, and out of maybe 5 games, the Marines win one. Usually by either out-numbering the Aliens, or a Rush tactic.

And the UI, was actually, and I can't believe I'm saying this, better in the beta. This new one, looks neat, but it's functionality is CRAP. A basic one like the beta, while not having really any features, at least worked. Hell, most community made UI's, are far superior to the default, it's amazing you don't just contact one of these modders and make it Official. You did it in the past, with several community members during the beta.

I keep wanting to like this game - I have only 41 hours in the game, and I keep thinking "It will get better, it will get better."

Then another month passes and I see tons of updates, with long lists like this, that make me hopeful. Then I go into the actual game itself...and it's the same.

The stats, right now, Officially, are 60% Alien Wins, 40% Marine Wins. When it started, it was 47% Marines, 53% Aliens. Prior to the full release it was 68% Aliens, 38% Marines. Somehow, you managed to balance it near release, but you've been getting progressively worse at it.

This would be OK, if it was still in Beta, and it wasn't release, but these are major shifts.

Imagine if you could have an animation with the hand actually reaching for the switch and pulling it down...

Prey had animations like this, it adds immensely to the atmosphere. Also, perhaps give the character a voice, if you can find a good one. Instead of just saying stuff during cutscenes, how about when they encounter a monster, have them say like "Ah, ****!"

Or when they see a grusome scene, like blood all over the floor, have them go "What the hell is going on here?!"

Or you can just do the text thing, like if you examine some blood stains, your guy can go "Ugh, that's disgusting", in little white over-lay text, kind of like in Penumbra. That'd be awesome.

Maybe for example, have the camera take control when you pick up an item and have your hand grab it. I've seen some games and mods do this, and it's interesting.

I really want to see this come full form, there are a lack of scary games these days. Amnesia brought back the chill I hadn't had in years.

Trust me, I've followed BB:S closely.

And yes, more mods is good, but I'm saying when you've got so many mods with what looks to be similar gameplay releasing in probably the same time stretch, it will split the already thin community further. Lots of awesome Source mods these days...yet no players...seems they only play mods that make it on Steam Works.

I've never seen fans like Warhammer40k, who refuse to believe that Warhammer 40k didn't invent the concept of evolving, swarm like aliens with a hive mind, and claim that any game such a race = copied Warhammer40k. Imperial Guard? Cmon, there's been numerous sci fi movies dating back before it's creation using similiar outfits and themes.

Space Marines? Well, yeah, Starship Troopers was mentioned, that was one of the first books that popularized "Power Armor."

Believe it or not, while Warhammer 40k may be a well established franchise, it is hardly known. I could ask people in my town, 9/10 wouldn't know that it was, or they'd think that Dawn of War, from 2004, started the series. Heck, most of the fans of the Dawn of War game don't even know it's based on an established history.

I mean hell, everything in Warhammer 40k is just a copy of something else...infact, Gamers Workship cites Lord of the Rings, and their desire to make a Space Version as the inspiration for Warhammer yeah lol, Warhammer 40k is incredibly unoriginal.

Like I said, it's how how Valve said it, they said it'd be the next generation, and yes I know about Source 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010, but I'm just saying this is what Valve says. They labeled it as Source 2..

So yeah.

Source has licensed it's Engine out to quite a few people, not to mention Source is a cheap license I've heard, compared to something like the UE3 Engine(Full license),

But yeah, Epic is well, being Epic!

Valve already offers Steamworks free to developers, so they have done something similar.

Obviously, that was not the case. Also, ESF is another mod looking AMAZING on the old Half-Life Engine

Still disappointed so much work is going into Naruto. Honestly, the series would have had a chance if it didn't have Disney level fans, and people who defend it to the death as the most hardcore, dramatic, action packed series ever.

I like Dragonball Z, but I also admit it has several faults. I realize it has some childish parts, and the story is entertaining, but nothing amazing. I -admit- that, I have yet to find a Narutard who doesn't think Naruto is the great thing to ever happen to Anime and that every new anime that comes out is copying Naruto.

I've also met kids who THINK Naruto INVENTED Ninja Arts, or that Ninjas really acted like the show. That's my main concern when I heard someone citing that Naruto contained historically accurate Ninja's. They weren't joking either.

Sorry for the rant, you guys always put in good work, but it's infuriating to see such awesome work for something I despise so much. :P

A Campaign? I doubt it. Almost no backstory to the mod at all, it's just a setting, and SP camps take a lot of time, and for a mod that's nearly dead, the payoff just wouldn't be worth it. They're probably better off working on a new project. They have alot of Talent and I'd like to see some of it go to good use.

FFVIII, the under-rated, superior to FFVII, Final Fantasy.

Short list of better RPGS:

Breath of Fire 3
Any of the Chrono games
Legend of the Dragoon(Albeit, it did come out a year or two later, so it had that advantage, but still, it was superior in almost all aspects)

And that's just a few I can name off the top of my head, RPGs at that.
