That guy who everyone hates and doesn't hide it, or they try to, but not very well. List of (known)people who hate me: Sacmo & Nivek(Possibly his gf too) Neo Tokyo's Dev's and Playtesters. Mother. Sister. My Ex's, Ex's BF's. And for anyone I forgot to mention, sorry, just post a comment or send me a email and I'll add you to the list.
Got to say that the fact a map pack took Best Upcoming Mod, when I've never heard of it...sounds like some fans rigged it to be honest. The video shows a new map and that's all lol. L4D Vanilla.
Map pack? A map pack? How is it a map pack?
While it is just another random DM, just models replaced and whatnot, you should at least try it out so that people can't use the defense of "You haven't played it yet".
It doesn't feel at all like the N64 version, it feels like some warped, gone wrong version, somewhere along the line the Devs said..."Well, we tried, let's throw the little work we've done together and release it".
Wow, you just learned what we've all known since the original HL. :P
I've been seeing so many mods like this lately. Some really good drugs must be going around. :P
You know, NeoTokyo has been used in many things. I've never even played TimeSplitters(though it did look good). NeoTokyo has been in movies, animes, music, ect, anything.
As far as I know, a few post downs, it's mainly Akira & Ghost in the Shell.
Lol. I'd love that if it were true, I'd have a whole new respect for Valve(It's already quite a high respect)
If they could actually say things like this, I'd respect them for not trying to be politically correct and all that. :P
Sorry, the guy hosting it took it down. We all played a few rounds, but yeah lol, he didn't like the game much, and he's the only one of us who had servers to use for such things.
Half-Life Source was never meant to be a full remake. They even said it was just a test to see if they could port it to the Source Engine with minimal work.
I'll agree that it was a disappointment, though. This looks orgasmic.
That Minerva guy got hired by Valve? I played his mod, it was good...but not 1/10th of the work that has gone into Black Mesa Source. It did fit the HL universe very well though, so perhaps that's why.
Valve is already well aware of what Black Mesa Source is going to be. Infact, they made them remove the "Source" part, because they thought it was so close to the original, they didn't want people CONFUSING it with a REAL Valve title.(You can google and see this information)
Overall, these guys deserve to be picked up by an awesome studio(if they aren't already), and if they are, then they deserve promotions. Work of this quality basically ensures yer future in the industry. Bravo. I'm sad that I never fully devoted myself to such talents, despite minoring in all of them.
Not true. F.E.A.R is really showing it's age. Any professional reviewer will agree. F.E.A.R can impress you at first, but I went to try it again a year and a half ago and it was fugly as hell, but I could still go back and play HL1 mods.
Why do I want to pay? Because these people worked -really- hard. This mod is pretty much up to Valve standards, and it'd anger me if a **** poor mod like Garrys Mod(Listen, it's fun, yeah yeah, but he didn't put in 1/10th of the work a mod like this did)
Also, if Valve buys it, they can add the Valve touch onto it. IT'll also get more media coverage, and the devs of this will make money, and can do more projects in the future. Sure, if you release a mod like this for free, you can use it as Sample work for when you join a studio - but if your SAMPLE work is this good and has been bought by one of the industries leading companies, I'm sure they'd get waaaay better offers. It's like the guy who made CS.
I actually HOPE they buy it. Also, Half-Life is not ugly, it's graphics have aged very gracefully, unlike games like F.E.A.R or Doom.
I'd pay 10, or, at the most, 20$ for this mod if Valve bought it. Poisonheadcrap is a funny guy though.
Srsly people. Check the OFFICIAL ******* WEBSITE, Moddb is usually not a BIG concern for modders, but the official website HAS recently been updated on the 7th of this month.
Just because a mod doesn't post updates, doesn't mean it's dead. Look at Neo-Tokyo, over 2 years of a shutdown forum and no updates - comes back with an awesome trailer, almost all the work done, and basically the second mod to have such intensive work done(next to BM of course)
What happened? I haven't played in a week, but there are like 60 servers last time I played, now 3? And laggy ones at that? Was it a one shot type of thing? Only filled up because of the release and then quickly died down? Hrm.
Their website itself just had an update the other day. You should really check there...moddb is a secondary concern for most Mod Teams.
You guys, and Neo-Tokyo show me how dedicated Source modders can be. They can truly create a Masterpiece. Honestly, if you guys don't get promoted at whatever Studios you work at(if you do, some of you might), or Valve doesn't send you offers themselves, I'll be downright shocked.
I'd pay 10$ for this.(As it's a remake...wouldn't pay 50$ for it though), and if Valve bought you before release and offered it for 10$, I'm sure everyone else would buy it still, and both you and Valve would have it made. :P
Fun mod. You managed to capture the feel somewhat, but with 16 player servers, it becomes so frustrating it's nothing like the original.
Good weapon models, nice sounds. Character models have been done nicely, though animations need serious work.
I'd say you deserve to be in the Top 100, but winning 1st...sorry, but I believe some other mods will surely deserve it more. You've done far more work than say a mod like ZP or so. Mods like AoC, Neo Tokyo, and Black Mesa Source will surely be the winners for 2009.
Good job though, I'm honestly impressed by yer attempt to remake Goldeneye. Look forward to future releases.
It's been stated...just below lol, and on the main site, that no, they will not be.
I've heard rumors they wanted them to be, but due to Source limitations or some such things, it was rendered not worth the effort or something. At least that's what I gathered from the forums. They're merely map objects. (It would kind of break the mood for Gameplay too...they look pretty powerful, and since the game is Round based...I'm sure whoever got the Mechs first would pretty much win)
I don't think everyone will move to the NS Engine for mods. Source is here to stay, and for awhile, like HL1 still has tons of mods being released. Lots of other games, like UT2004, Doom 3, Q4, and whatever, have almost no modding community and yet said they would surpass Source, lol.
Yeah, well, yer a prick Watch.
Limitations of the Source Engine, I'm afraid. :P
Source Engine never supported Vehicles that well. Mods like Empires and such, had to do lots, and lots, and lots of coding for mediocre Vehicles.
Vehicles will be AI controlled or so I've been told(Map specific I guess? Certain routes they travel?)
So no, as of now, they've said they don't plan to add Vehicles due to it would push the release back even farther, and it might not fit the Gameplay.(People can be Vehicle whores, you know? A good example of this is the recently released F.E.A.R 2. Get in a Mech in that, and if you play right, impossible to loose...quite cheap though)
Again though, I'm just a fan, so my information is based upon what I heard and may not be 100% accurate, so don't take it as absolute truth.
CR1 on Feb 20th! Be ready!
Wow. I can't believe this all happened just because of one paragraph.
Dedicated Server is now up, no idea for how long, but if you see this page, download, install, and play!:P
Yes, the Soundtrack is planned to be released on a CD you can purchase. Details on the main site.
Looked good from what I saw, but it's dead honestly. To bad, it looked like it had much potential.
Yeah, it does look very promising. IT looks like as much work as Black Mesa Source was put in, at least almost(BM:S is a 12 hour game though, so obviously) I've been spamming all my friends with it as of late. If you're to believe all the press coverage and hits it's been frequenting, you can just IMAGINE the amount of people that will play once released, and then the day it gets on Steamworks, it's popularity will soar.
The team has said themselves they are dead, lol.
I love this mod. I lost my UT2004 Key...if I hadn't, I'd play it again. I don't really wanna buy another UT2004 key for it either.
It really does have a strange ambiance that really freaks you out.
26? Wow, that's more than alot of commercial games...Good job.
Wow, that's amazing then, Golden Eye Source keeps Rank #1 every day, all day, so they must get buttloads of visits every minute.
