Games are great!! This is like a gaming renaissance going on right now. So many games, so little time.
Looks like Win XP is working !!
Come and get it.
I sent it via PM. I didn't see a way to add an attachment but the file was small and copy and paste.
Thanks for looking into this :)
I just run Microsoft Security Essentials. I have 65 games on Desura and around 250 on Steam and more on different services (origin, amazon, gamersgate, impulsedriven, greenmangaming, gog.com). I don't think I've ever seen a game do this and there is zero hesitation - it makes the folders in my last post and then it closes instantly. There are no files quarantined in security essentials history. I turned off real-time protection for a couple of minutes and tried it with same result.
Some of the games I have are updated through launchers/downloaders like minecraft (regular, magiclauncher, and technic-launcher), StarMade, Valley Without Wind, Gratuitous Tank Battles, Overgrowth.
I did add an exception for zombiegrinder.exe and desura.exe and desura_service.exe to Security Essentials but same result.
This computer only has 2 users - a guest one (which I should probably just delete because I don't use it) and the one I log into all the time which is admin. I don't think I have any unusual settings for the admin account - I don't mess with any settings I don't have to.
If this helps any - Running ZombieGrinder.exe creates -
C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Application Data\Zombie Grinder\Install\
There are no files in the "Zombie Grinder" folder or the "install" folder. Deleting the "Zombie Grinder" and "install" folders and running the .exe just repeats the process.
I'm in no hurry - I'm working. Just thought it may be the same problem someone else here mentioned and probably a Win XP issue.
Great game - maybe the best top down game I've played.
I did it both on Desura AND through Twindrills.com to try to get it to work either way. When I originally played the game months ago it was through Desura and it worked great.
I bought it anyway :/
The donator version is the same way but at worst there is another computer in the house I can use with Win 7 on it.
On the Twindrills.com site the windows file.
I click on it in Desura and it says "Please select the version of Zombie Grinder you want to play:" and then I click "play." A small Desura colored window flashes for an instant that says "preparing:" at the top but nothing in the window and it shuts down immediately. The same thing happens when clicking to play "SDK."
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from Desura.
I tried the download from Twindrills.com and unzipped it into a folder on my desktop called "zombiegrinder_stub_windows" with zombiegrinder.exe inside. Double clicking it nothing - not even a window.
I haven't played this for ages. Nice to see you have a paid version now. I fired it up to see what changed before I buy, but I am also having the problem with the game not launching.
Win XP 32 bit
AMD X2 4800+
Nvidia MSI 9600GT 512 MB
4 GB DDR2 RAM
I played it months ago just fine and see on your site under support that there are some "dependency" files that are supposed to be in the install folder. The only file in my Zombie Grinder folder is ZombieGrinder.exe. I have tried the download from your site also and still only downloads a zip with ZombieGrinder.exe in the folder.
Thank you for the free content and the great game :)
Thank you!! Just learned something new. Wish there was a way to +rep you. :)
God you type a lot :) It's nice when devs write up what is happening behind the scenes like this (and Space Pirates and Zombies devs on the steam forums).
I love the new look and will be buying another copy for LAN multiplayer and say thanks for the extra work on the art - may have to be a couple of paychecks from now :(
I bought on gamersgate - Is there any way to make the download file have the version number as part of the name? I never know what version it is until I uninstall and download and install "towns(alpha).exe." I end up having to wait a few days after release of a new version and hope they updated it :(
Anything that makes a server easy to create is great! Minecrafts new 1.31 release makes creating a LAN server out of any map you are playing sooo easy that even I can run a server and have family members join.
+rep for all your hard work :)
This game is like art. Glad for the sale and looking forward to playing this and trying to understand it. Really polished and it is clear how much time, effort, and love went into this title. :)
yes, a little bit :)
excellent work by the way
I am NOT happy about this game at all!! :mad face: Why do you tease us day after day??
PUT UP A BUY BUTTON ALREADY!!!
Just bought - Thanks for the great game!!
Everything about this - from the dev name to the idea of the game - great and weird stuff. Hope you get tons of sales just for creativity.
Okay, playing hardball. I will just make a second account to buy another copy. Excellent work and I hope you are either wealthy and can afford to do this as a hobby or . . . a vampire so you have no use of money. Either way, great job.
My god, do you ever sleep? Ever? Thank you for including an updater with your game or I could never keep up. Bet you have another update ready to go before I finish typing this. At least stop long enough to go to the bathroom. :)
So, can I buy a second copy for multiplayer through the same account on your website or do I need to create a new account?
I didn't know game maker could make something like this. Great job!!
This looks really, really good. Trying out the demo soon but a must buy for me on payday. Thanks for thinking of something completely new.
You are awesome, your game is awesome, this is just awesome!
This has really come along in the past couple of months. Runs like a dream on an old dual core. So glad I bought this ages ago. Nicely done!!
:) Better and better.
Mere words cannot describe my love for this game.
oops, double post - told you about that tiny brain
Amazing! My tiny brain cannot comprehend this.
Great news! Great game made better with an editor.
I'm a man of my word - just added this to my collection :)
Billy would be proud!
I'm not gonna lie - Buying this game next payday just so I can listen to the female voice actor. I think I'm melting.
This is awesome, some sort of soda dispenser, laser weapon, turret or possibly ATM. Nice! Does that guy have new pants?
Sorry, feeling weird, worked too many hours. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for writing this kind of behind the scenes stuff. I'm dumb as a stump but fascinated with how smart you guys/girls are and good info for gamers who have no idea what goes into making a game. Now get this thing kickstarted!!
Such an amazingly well done game so far. Everyone has cool ideas, but not everyone can turn those ideas into a fun game. I really, really want to preorder, kickstart, early access, give you some money for this game. Looks like Rawbots (minus the complexity of visual programming) plus open world exploration and mining plus vehicle sim and combat in a nice fun package (oh and some Captain Forever). This has just become my #1 game to look forward to.
Nice :) The 360 and PS3 controllers have 2 joysticks already (as well as many 3rd party gamepads). Why not just let your controls use those? I would only advise to have solid controls. Controls make or break a game. If they don't feel right to you, they won't feel right to us the gamers.
Wow, very nice. Now I need to make some family members play with me . . . and find some free time :/
Just played a little bit. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE me some hoverboards!! Nice job as usual Phr00t. It's great looking around while moving in whatever direction the board is moving and changing direction with the hook or steering - Perfect.
I love great controls in games. Minecraft has that same quality of making ordinarily difficult tasks (in other games) super easy because of great controls. If you have to stop and think about what buttons to press then you lose the immersion. Gameplay and great controls > graphics all day, every day.
Can you actually drive around with the crane? That would be very fun. You could even have a mini-game moving crates from one area to another with a truck crane like that.
Looks great! The devs of Project Zomboid lost a bunch of their work when they had 2 laptops stolen early in development. BACK UP every time! (please, because this looks so great).
I need to check myself for online backup for documents in case of a hard drive failure. I picked up an external 750 GB drive for around $60 last Christmas just to back up steam games to avoid 2 months of downloading if one of our computers fails.
Really looking forward to this game/sim.
Great!! Been watching this game since your first outstanding demo.
I like the graphic touches a lot. Just having slight indentations on the buildings instead of completely flat walls adds a lot. I have fun just running around in these open world games looking around.
I haven't had much time to play and usually get killed early, but rolling along on the quests now. Appreciate all the work you put into these games.
You are a programming machine.
This is my most anticipated game on Desura. Great work!
You are a big tease. You need an alpha version. I have money :)
Okay, not a lot, but I would pay for this and eat noodles for a while.
Absolutely cannot wait for this!! Playing Rawbots and love games that give you this kind of freedom.
Looking fantastic - Really like the camera in the truck. Maybe you can have a user camera that can be placed anywhere - on the walking machines, on top of bridges, etc.
PC really needs a great sim like this.
Edit - Although, looking at other pics maybe you already have that :/
This map made me buy a second copy for LAN play. Thanks for the great game!
I bought this from devs website ages ago. Great game that you should definitely buy. One thing that bothered me was the washed out color look in the maps. It was kinda hard to see what was going on, although I think I am in the minority on that opinion :/
This map fixes that. The graphics are bright and clean and don't look washed out. This is a true joy to play with this winter map.
If you don't own this game - BUY IT NOW!!!
That's what was missing!
I was running the 1.25 version great. The new version gives me this error when starting the game -
"The application or DLL D:\Games\Masterspace\MSVCP100.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
I renamed it just to see if I could start the game and it gave me the same error but with "MSVCR100.dll." After renaming that file I was able to start the game but terrain is black.
This is on Win XP 32 bit. I have a Win 7 computer I will try tomorrow and see if it runs. This was using this download on indiedb. I looked at the files in the paid version online on your website but they say 1.3 preview and not sure if those are the final 1.3 files.
I'm real time excited. Next paycheck I'm picking up a second copy for multiplayer. Great job as always!
These videos were a great idea (almost mandatory watching). I didn't know most of this stuff. I just like hitting keys randomly and testing your damage modeling. Time to get serious.
Great looking game, best looking mahjong game I have ever seen.
The only thing I would change is the camera. I like that you can move it around with the right mouse, but when selecting tiles I think it should remain fixed and this would be perfect. It's a little nauseating to have it constantly moving as you pick tiles.
I would have definitely paid for this game.
Sorry, didn't add as a friend. I only game an hour here and there and usually disappoint when someone invites me to a game. I'm just going to keep this account friend free so I can escape Steam once in a while and get my indie game fix.
And yeah, Project Zomboid is great, hoping for that update soon. You should try out "Kerbal Space Program." The version on their website is the current demo. The next version will be for paid accounts, but for now everyone is on the same version. Only $7.00 to buy the full version and they have tons of stuff planned down the road.
Wow, nice job. Looks and runs incredibe.
