So i think i am going to have put the rest of this mod on hold for the time being. i have some serious real life issues to deal with for the next couple months. if hoho has the time maybe he can retake the reigns but i will not be doing anything on this for a little while atleast.

i do expect it will get finished eventually, possibly not by me.

sorry for the bum news. it bums me out too, i hate how little i can spend on it right now and you few readers know how poor my updates have been. must deal with life though, despite my best efforts to avoid it.

If you right click the ability you can turn it off. I recommend this when defending a grav well to prevent your ships from auto attacking and getting wiped out by an enemy fleet.

If the abilites aren't on auto the ai doesn't use them very well or at all. sins ai sucks, and maybe my ability making also sucks.

You can adjust ships speeds when you start a game. big ships in freespace didnt move very fast(unless jumping). Compared to fighters they were almost stationary. Try out the higher speed setting and let me know if thats too fast/slow for you. maybe i should move the current normal speed to be the slow one, will have a look but not for the next release, which should be up shortly.

if you want to change it just go to the Gameplay.constants file and change the physics speed there. takes 2 minutes.

ok update time. sorry but the last 3 weeks have been insanely frustrating. I had the vasudans about 60% done but introduced a late game mini-dumping bug that i could not for the life of me find until this evening. of course its obvious and silly and simple. oh well.

so as of now i have to finish filling out the tech tree and add the voice files to the ships. and of course a whack load of texture mismatches to fix, good times.

i figure 2 to 3 weeks and i should be able to get a new version of the mod out with 2 races, decent tech trees and fixed starbases. yay!

- i have read that sins requires a certain number of ships in the game to allow the ai to work properly so to fill the ranks they became support vessels as closely as possible following their traditional roles.

- yes one of sins' limits are 3 main weapons per ship. thats why flak, as well as super beam weapons are abilities.

- trade and resource ships are 'nice to haves' that may get added far down the road.
- will add more appropriate abilities over time.

1 - hmmmm, you know i cant even find where the health would be in the files. weird, will have to look for that.
2 - i am working on that. i have bumped up the speeds a bit already.
3 - ah, ok will have to have a close look at those too.

Sorry i had a hard drive failure last weekend in the middle of testing / bug fixing. Luckily no mod stuff was lost, just the OS. i think the torrents killed my drive.

i will put up some proper news here shortly. basically im struggling to get the AI to use abilities properly. I had everything working nice but noticed the In System Jump ability would break the AI's Explore ability so it couldn't get out of its home system (via wormhole/jumpnodes) very frustrating, much more so than the drive failure.

once i get these last few gameplay bugs fixed the rest of the work will go much quicker. I think i will have a GTA only test release just to see what people think of the jumping abilities and whether they should be kept at all.

sorry that older FS1 mod is pretty much dead(to me) now, meaning that i will not be doing another update for it as i am focused on the new mod. It is only a couple versions behind if someone wants to try using one of the mod updater tools that are kicking around the inter-tubes. might work.

if you can run regular sins : entrenchment then you should be able to run this. thats my goal anyway, i figure my PC is old now so if i can still play it, most other people should be able to as well.

Im not sure what we'll do for releases just yet. maybe a GTA/VAS release could work since we have some vas voice files already, but probably no GTA/NTF only, sorry.

New images up showing off the scale of the ships in game.

I have the gta about 75% complete. need to add sounds, research and a couple more abilities. so 2 weeks give er take.

Following that i will do the gameplay changes, new planet types, etc and get the NTF worked in as the pirates. thats another 1 to 2 weeks.

The other races will be atleast another month, not including all the vasudan voice files that will need to be created. And something for the shivans. Those are 'nice to haves' though.

lots to do but its coming together nicely. if work wouldn't get in the way all week it would be a different story but those dam banks want their money.

quick update. i have looked over the files from Hoho and am working to get the GTA finished up. lots of little things yet to do so it will be a while yet but its looking good. the scale between the various ship classes is pretty awesome. The colossus is really, really BIG. I think we'll have to make the planet grav wells quite a bit bigger to compensate.

i think it will be worth the wait though. :)

As Hoho5000 mentioned we are back to a solid 'In Progress' status. I am getting familiar with the files again, the great work he has done so far and hope to be getting full into it this weekend. No eta yet, need some time to absorb it all, but its happening.

I know im brutal for updates but will try to put some up more often. Thanks for the continued interest.

Hey all. just an update, i am working on getting the files as they stand and will then be starting up the work again. no eta but we're still alive. about the only thing i can promise is that i do intend to see this mod completed, at least for entrenchment.

wow hey guys. sorry, but yes the mod has been put on hold for a while now. i will try get a hold of hoho to see how he's doing. i was going to get the files off him when he had to take time away but i guess he never had a chance to send them over. i figured he had enough to deal with at the time so i let it be.

im sorry but i dont know when we'll have a release. there's not a huge amount left to do so i would say its far from dead yet, just taking longer than we originally hoped. oh well. real life > video games, unfortunately.

The NTF are taking the place of the pirates. All FS2 ships combat ships will be in game, some support ships. no knossos yet.

Hey Bloodfleet that ravana looks great. do you have that model in a pof or cob format? if so i could get it into the mod. Just have to combine the textures together. i did it for a bunch of the other HQ models.

No no still working away on it. ship models and textures are about 70% done. We are fleshing out the weapons and abilites now to get the points on. Once thats done we should have a flurry of activity until we hit the tech tree, which will take some thought. Still hoping for a November/December release, maybe minus a full tech tree and polish.

There is a new 'final' version of this mod that should be posted soon. It has the update, a couple more fixes and the maps will now work with 1.17.

Next we will be working on a FS2 mod for entrenchment. The ships will look much nicer than they do now, more FS like tech trees and lots of beam cannons. It will probably be late in the year when we get something out.
