My name is Kenneth, I am an independent developer and artist who is currently in the process of trying new things to figure out what I am good at doing and what I enjoy doing. In the process I am tackling disciplines such as webdesign, graphic design, and the odd bit of programming here and there. MediaMajesty serves as a portfolio and showcase of my works, whatever type they may be.

So it’s been a few days since my last post so I decided to get on here and post an update on the situation. Well first as far as being sick goes I finally got over the flu, and get diagnosed with a GI tract infection a week later so… I’m sick again. So the majority of my time has been dedicated to catching up on my school work to stay the marvelous student that I aspire to be.

So I have also been attempting to work on a new minimalist piece but I have run into some interesting albeit funny problems. The first was that I wanted to make a minimalist poster of one of my favorite movies of all time: John Carpenter’s The Thing. When I started brainstorming and sketching out different designs I realized a problem with minimalism. After sketching 15 designs I realized that about 11 of them were absolutely fantastic and poster quality. The problem with minimalism is that I could literally do the same title over and over with so many different designs, and in this case I couldn’t force myself to pick one design yet as I haven’t found one to end them all, and my portfolio wouldn’t be too interesting if every piece was of the same movie.

So I decided to try for an original piece with a symbolic message. I was making a portrayal of the Biblical account of the Origin of Sin with Eve being tempted in the Garden of Eden by the serpent. My twist was that I was going to position the  serpent into the form of a dollar sign to imply that money is one fundamental source of sin and evil. I thought it was fantastic, that was until a peer pointed out a quite obvious sexual innuendo in my piece that I for some reason was completely oblivious to. As crazy as it is I want my works to speak for themselves and I don’t wish to include innuendos in them and in good conscience I could not publish that piece. I am brainstorming ways that I could maintain the symbolism but in a different form.

So that is where it’s at right now, I’m still trucking away at whatever it is that I do. I do hope to have a new piece soon but as any great artist would say, you can’t rush perfection. I guess in my case it is more of you can’t rush but you can kinda pressure mediocrity.

Stay tuned for updates!
