Description

Prototype weapons of WW2
MG-45. German general purpose machine gun in 7,92x57 Mauser which was being developed as a replacement for MG-42 to further lower the financial and material cost. Its weight was lowered in contrast to MG-42 as it weighted only 9kg. It used some parts from MG-42 though it had a different action - roller delayed blowback which gave it enourmous rate of fire - 1800RPM. Tested in June 1944 but not issued. Probably due to its parts and mainly barrel lifetime problems. Only 10 were made.
